I found this little guy the day before our “big” snow storm last week. The snow storm we were suppose to have anyway.
Poor thing was too cold to jump away from me. So I took advantage.

TNT and I worked in the tree row sun up to sun down the weekend of the 8-9. It was a lot of work, but we are making progress.
Before

We couldn’t pull this one out with the pickup so TNT

got the chainsaw out and went to work.

Then it was time to bring the tractor in. We used it to push down the dead trees.
By that Sunday night it was looking better. There is suppose to be 7 people coming out to cut firewood, but we’ll see if they really do it. We’ll probaby have to dig a big hole, push them in and burn it. Anyone up for a bonfire?

I love working in the shop with TNT. When I found out he had a plasma cutter I was thrilled. Or over the moon as dumb celebs say about their new babies. Hate that phrase. Anyway I tell him I married him for his welder.
My dad makes a lot of metal yard art for people. He’s made me many items and I always feel bad since he won’t take anything for it. So I decided I’d do it on my own.
You start out with a sheet of metal.
Then you use an overhead projector to project the image on the metal. I had already copied the images I wanted to a transparency. Here you can see a pumpkin wearing a witches hat.
Then I draw the image on the metal.
Now I have all the objects transferred to the metal. I try to get it as full as possible since the sheet metal is pricy and I don’t want to waste very much.
Then I took the sheets of metal to the shop. The most important thing is the ground clamp. You have to do this before you can anything else. It’s for safety reasons and you won’t get a good cut without it.

Here I am cutting out the corn stalk.
Then I cut out snowmen. I love snowmen and they are the only thing I’ll use to decorate at Christmas.
Here’s the corn stalk finished. We are putting it on TNT’s grandpa’s grave.
In the two pieces of metal I had I did the corn stalk, a 5-foot Christmas tree for a friend, Halloween pumpkins, a ghost, Easter basket, a Santa, a Santa hat, turkey, and a few other items. I got them all painted on Saturday. Even though I’m not an expert on making these I think I do an okay job.

We were getting engagement pictures taken. And its been 1 1/2 years ago.
The prom pose.
This is the picture I used on our invites. I did the invitations, reply cards, info card all myself and saved huge amounts of money I spent less than $100 on them. I thought they turned out really nice and I had a lot of compliments on them.
What we have to kiss in public? Our photographer told us to kiss and we both had to laugh since our joke was when the minister tells TNT to kiss me we’d just shake hands. (He did kiss me at the wedding though) Someone might see us kiss, ohmy! I’m rolling my eyes.
The only time he got down on his knee. Then I had to help him up. 🙂
No touch up was added to this picture. The sun hit it just right.

Our soybeans have been harvested for three weeks now. But I was able to take a few pictures before. I don’t know much about soybeans other than each pod should have 3 beans in it. That is if the growing environment was good. Not enough water and the pods won’t fill out.
Here’s a half circle of beans.
Close up of the plant after it’s dried.
A pod with the three beans in it.
We didn’t get the snow storm they had predicted. We only got about 2-4 inches but the wind is blowing really hard. The roads are very slushy and can easily pull you if you get out of the track. If it gets any colder I’m leaving work early. There is no way I’d be able to make it home in my car if the roads got icy with as much slush that’s on there now.
*Winner of the give-away will be announced on Saturday!*

To honor all the people (family & friends included) who have been touched by breast cancer I am giving away a breast cancer ribbon lawn art made from metal. I made it myself and it isn’t the best, but I’m getting better.
But most important SQUEEZE YOUR BOOBIES!!!
To enter leave a comment on how breast cancer or any cancer has affected you.
*We are in a blizzard warring until tomorrow night at 6. We are suppose to receive 5-8 inches of snow with 30 mph winds and 60 mph gusts coming out of the North. Last night at 8:30 a thunderstorm came through and dropped 1.45 inches of rain on us and lots of hail. Hail in October! If I get snowed in at home I sure hope the electricity stays on so I can get on the internet.*

In the spring of 2004 my mom found a lump in her breast. Even though she had a normal mammogram the month before she still did a daily breast exam. By doing a daily breast exam probably saved her life.
Her and my Step-Dad (SD) went to a specialist who deals with breast cancer. The doctor and nurses working there are all breast cancer survivors. One nurse had survived a few bouts with the disease. After a biopsy my mom got the news no one wants to hear. However, she never said, “why me?” That night after they got home she asked Mildred and I out to their house for a family meeting. Without shedding a tear this brave woman told us she had stage 1 breast cancer and that she was going to beat it. At first I was shocked and wanted to cry, but my mother wasn’t crying so I wasn’t going to either. However, once at home that night I cried like a baby. “Why my mom,” I kept asking. She’s been through so much already in her life, our lives. But then I realized if anyone could make a positive role model out of fighting cancer then it would be my mother. Makes me wonder if God was preparing her for this huge fight for her life all those other times he threw tough times her way.
Mildred, my SD and I went to every appointment with her. She was never alone through any of it. The day of the surgery we were all very tense. The 1 1/2 hour mastectomy turned into 2 1/2 hours. That waiting room clock just wouldn’t move. Finally the doctor came out and told us the cancer was only in her breast and hadn’t spread. Relief.
When we got to see her the first time after the surgery she was groggy and didn’t really hold a conversation. She kept feeling where her left breast once was but now just a huge bandage. We left her that night and in the morning when we walked in there was out bright and beautiful mother. She was joking and laughing and SO ready to leave the hospital.
Through the six chemo treatments, the baldness and the sickness you never heard my mother pout or ask “why me.” If I have half the courage and strength she has then I’ll be ready for anything.
Can you tell this woman is about to get another round of chemo.

Three of the most wonderful onocology nurses you’ll ever meet. They not only treated her but also our whole family.
She wore her wig sometimes, but it was too itchy for her. So she wore her KU baseball cap everywhere.
Mom and I.
Our family deals with everything with laughter. My mother has no problems pulling her fake boob out and throwing at someone. Mildred, TNT and I went to a Dierks Bently concert one night. Dierks wanted Mildred to flash him, she didn’t of course. When we told mom she said she would have pulled out her boob, licked the backside of it and slapped it up on his bus window. Thankfully she wasn’t there because poor ole Dierks would have been scarred for life.
Mom is now the Relay 4 Life director of our county. She loves giving back and helping people.
Today, October 21st is the fourth anniversary of her last chemo treatment. We always celebrate this wonderful time.
In honor of my wonderful mother I will have a giveaway tomorrow.
