Finally getting around to a weekend recap from our trip to North Platte, Nebraska for a concert.

On our way up there. Mildred, my mom, my MIL and me.

Jarrod Neiman started the shindig off and he got us up and dancing. But then our main man Blake Shelton came out! He was freaking awesome. If you get a chance to go see him get your tickets right now. Even if you are not a country fan you will like his music.  We sang and danced through every one of his songs.  I did not want him to quit singing.

Then Brad Paisley came out. And pretty much we sat down and just tapped our foot.  I know he’s won Entertainer of the Year a few years back but I don’t know how.  I saw him back in 2001 and we left 1/2 way through his show. This time we did stay the whole time, but so many people were leaving. It was kind of sad.

The best part of Brad’s show was when Blake came out and sang “Don’t Drink the Water” with him. lol

On Saturday morning we went to what they called a Buffalo Bill Cody museum, but it was really a tourist trap.  It was free to walk around and look at stuff, but they expected you to buy things. We laughed so hard at those dumb mirrors that distort your body.

Then we did some shopping and had to stop a the Dollar Store cause everything is a dollar. Just a tip. Those paint brushes they sell are the best ones I have ever used. And trust me I’ve used lots and lots of paint brushes. Anyway my MIL found these cool Swamp People hats. They’re not really swamp people hats, but that’s what we called them since we LOVE that show on the History channel.

We wore them all the way home. Even into a stop-2-shop to use the restroom. Here we were waiting for my step-dad to open the door. I think he was scared!

Another First to add

Yesterday I did a post on firsts. Well last night at softball I had another first but there wasn’t a question about it on yesterday’s survey.  I played co-ed softball last night and we lost the first game pretty badly. In the second game we were playing really good. When I came up to bat there was a guy on first and a guy on second.  I made solid contact with the ball and it flew to right field.  The right center fielder dove and missed it which left the ball rolling almost to the fence. The right fielder then ran to get it but isn’t very athletic and couldn’t throw the ball more than 10 feet.  As this is going on I’m huffing and puffing my way to second base. I hear the our third base coach holler to come to third. Okay by this point I need oxygen. Then as I get to third Pete tells me go home.  Are you kidding me? A in THE PARK HOME RUN!!!! I hit a in park home run. lol  I’m not really sure how the game ended cause the paramedics were waiting for me at home plate with a stretcher! Just kidding. We won 12-2.

Firsts

I’m stealing this from Life of a Doctor’s Wife.

1. Who was your first prom date?
At the high school I went to if you were and underclassmen you had to be asked by a Jr or Sr to go to prom. Well my sophomore year a guy in my  Ag class who was a Senior asked me to go. He was kinda nerdy and we didn’t date or anything, but he was my first prom date.

2. Who was your first roommate?

In 2001  I moved with my then bf and our mutual friend to KC while they both had internships. I worked at a dollar store and hate every single minute of it.  I mean living with two guys is fun, but living in the city isn’t.  It never gets dark or quiet.

3. What was your first alcoholic beverage?

Gosh, I was probably 24 when I had my apple martini. It was really good, but I’m not much of a drinker.

4. What was your first job?

I worked with my mom at a trucking company. I answered phones and entered driver logs into a computer. It was an okay job. Got paid good for a sophomore in HS.

5. What was your first car?

I drove a white 1980 Olds Delta 88. That car was a beast and I loved it.  My nickname in hs was Tank because my car was like an army tank! Flattering I know!

6. When did you go to your first funeral?

The first funeral I attended was for my grandpa and I was 5.

7. How old were you when you first moved away from your hometown?

I went on a custom harvest crew between my Jr and Sr year and we lived north of Limon Colorado for 1 1/2 months. It was one of the best summers of my life!

8. Who was your first grade teacher?

The witch Mrs. Dorothy Keith! She will rot in hell for the way she treated me! I’m sure of it.

9. Where did you go on your first airplane ride?

Mildred and I went to Dallas, TX for a NASCAR race in April 2004. Had a wonderful time.

10. When you snuck sneaked out of your house for the first time, who was it with?

This will show I was a goody-two-shoes cause I never snuck out and I didn’t even have a curfew. I’d go out with friends and we all usually ended back at our house watching movies with my parents. I remember Mary, my step-dad and I stayed up watching Simon Birch and all three of us cried our eyes out.

11. Who was your first Best Friend and are you still friends with them?

That would be Derek. He was the athletic trainer for my basketball team and we worked together at Dairy Queen. He flew from Atlanta for our wedding. He means so much to me and I’m so thankful for our friendship.

12. Where did you live the first time you moved out of your parents’ house?

I moved to KC summer of 2001. When we moved back I lived about 6 miles from their house on a horse boarding ranch.

13. Who is the first person you call when you have a bad day?

Either my sister or mommie dearest.

14. Whose wedding were you in the first time you were a bridesmaid or a groomsman?

I was a Junior bridesmaid for my cousins’ wedding in 1994.

15. What is the first thing you do in the morning?

Since we have Molly I’m the one who takes her outside to go potty. Before Molly it was hit the Snooze 5 times. lol

16. What was the first concert you attended?

Oh gosh….go back to Friday’s post to read more about this topic. But my first concert was Rascal Flatts and Brad Paisley in Topeka, KS 2002.

17. First tattoo or piercing?

I have my ears pierced, but that’s as exciting as I am.

18. First celebrity crush?

Zach Morris of course!!!! Zach Attack!

19. First crush?

I would say J. Mattson. Oh he was so dreamy!!!

20. First real love?

The first time I realized what real love is was 6 years 6 months 23 days and 8 hours ago when I met TNT!! Okay so maybe not that exact moment, but that’s when I met my real love.  I thought I was in love when I moved to KC with that boy, but I was young and dumb. Then there was another one who turned out to be a cheater cheater pumpkin eater!

Once Mildred gets pictures posted from our wild and crazy weekend I will do a post on all the fun we had at the concert!!!

Friday Five

For more Friday Fives visit Kat @ Living Like the Kings.

Today at 1:30 is the official start to a Girls Weekend with my sister, mom, mother-in-law. We are heading to a Blake Shelton, Brad Paisley and Jarrod Neiman concert. We are all so excited. So I thought I’d do a post about the funny things that have happened when I go to a concert.

1. Has to be the Carmex incident. For those that don’t want to read the long post I’ll do a short one.  I’m addicted to Carmex and I left it at home.  My friend stopped at a Stop2Shop so I could get some.  I was being silly and grabbed a box of condoms and ended up tripping over a milk crate and falling up against the glass window with a store full of people. The cashier was laughing so hard he was snorting!

2. On the same trip to Omaha as #1 after the concert  we went bar hopping at the different clubs in Omaha with friends. My friend might have had too much to drink so we stopped and got her a Love’s sandwich and a bag of Doritos. As we were walking the steps to my other friends apartment there was a humongous spider on the wall.  My drunk friend was on the top step and fell back down the stairs. WITH OUT SPILLING HER DORITOS!

3. I took Mildred to her first concert a few years back. We got there early found our seats and enjoyed people watching. Before the concert started we ran to the bathroom and when we returned there were people in our seats. I was kind of rude to them and smarted off to them. Then I realized those the right seats, but I was in the wrong section! oops!

4. I went to my very first concert in Topeka, KS back in 2002. Topeka is a 5 hour drive from the NW corner of KS so me and my friend were going to leave early and do some shopping before we went to the Rascal Flatts/Brad Paisley concert.  My friend called me at mid-night and she was so sick. At 1:00pm she was finally well enough to be in a car. She slept the whole way and we arrived just in time to grab a quick bite to eat and hit the concert. We were in our t-shirt and jeans and didn’t have time to get all gussied up!

5. ……..I guess we’ll see what tonight has to offer!

The funny thing is all 4 of those “incidents” happened when we were going to a Rascal Flatts concert. Coincidence?

Puppy Overload

To please two of my readers (Kat and Mildred) get ready for some puppy overload. I caution you now if you don’t like puppies better click that red X up in the top right corner.

She looks so grown up. 😦

I had a talk with Molly last week that she has to stay wittle forever and ever.  She’s not listening! See how wittle she was two weeks ago in the below two pictures.

These were taken 2 weeks ago. TWO WEEKS!

Now she’s all big.

Huh? You talking about me?

Tails giving Molly the evil eye! And maybe even the paw.

I know super blurry, but super cute. Her tail is really long and she’ll chase it a lot, but her new thing is to act like she’s trying to bite it, but will let it tickle her nose.  Then she looks up at you like, “look what I can do.”  It is so stinkin’ funny! You know Tails is just rolling eyes! 😉

TNT asked if I’d mow the old place the other day (it’s a 4 hour job) I told him no cause Molly will grow so much while I’m gone.  He just rolled his eyes.

It’s raining!

Yesterday morning the severe thunderstorms started early.  I was up at 7 and the warning bells on the radio were already going off for hail storms.  Luckily we only received rain, lots of it, but no hail. I took this when I left the farm on my way into work. TNT left about 15 minutes before me and got into 1 1/2 inch hail.  Beat the pickup up. 😦

After 3.49″ of rain this is what the country roads look like. Calling Miss Mildred for Big Red muddin’ time!!

The ditches between our house and the highway.  The town I work in just built a multimillion dollar aquatic center, but after this much rain we had 4 swimming pools in our yard, we don’t need no aquatic park. lol

I will post a video later of the frogs croaking. We had severe storms all day long. Tornados all over the place. Only heard of one farmstead getting hit . My aunt shared this picture on her fb and she got it from her friend. Her friend took it of the tornado that was close to her home. So I’m sharing this with you. I did not take this photo! Taken by M. White.

Last night I let TNT open his birthday gifts.  Today is his bday but I’m going to be gone for a photographers club meeting tonight. I got him a K-State shirt, a grilling basket (not the hot dog thing shown in the pic) and a rack to hang up hot wings when he cooks them on the grill. I bought both the grill items at Lakeside Collections. I think they were $7 each.

Molly & Tails played with the box and wrapping paper.

Check back later for the frogs.

Father’s Day Weekend

What a wonderful weekend I had.  Saturday I did the usual; laundry, clean house, mow, garden work and even watched it rain. Sunday was a full day. Mildred, TNT and I took my dad out for brunch. Then we went to visit my step-dad and mom. We got him a collage of pictures of Mildred and I.  My mom said he doesn’t have anything on his office walls so what better way to decorate than to put pictures up of us! lol

After an hour visit there we went to a baby shower for Mildred’s friend. Nik and Mildred were friends first then Nik and I became friends. Nik and I use to ride to the volleyball league we played in together.  We were both in the club of never having babies, EVER! But then last year almost to the date her brother fell to his death in a grain elevator leaving behind a 3 week old little girl and a new wife of 10 months.  So her life has changed so much and she decided not to renew her membership our club. 🙂  Her little girl is due middle of July.  I don’t know if I’m getting older or if this baby shower was just better than others I’ve been too, but I had so much fun!

Seems like yesterday Nik and I were planning our weddings and now she’s having a baby. Mildred was in the wedding as a bridesmaid and now here they are days away from the birth of Nik’s little girl.

We played the funnest games! When we first got to the community center we signed the book and then were given stickers with baby items written on them. I was Pacifier and Mildred was Burp Rag.  Throughout the whole shower if you talked to someone you had to use the name on their tag otherwise you had to put a quarter in the baby’s piggy bank. I think I owe $10 and I’ll have to write a check. lol

The second game we played was place a balloon under your shirt and walk with a quarter between your knees and drop it in the bucket. My team didn’t win. Of course I was busy taking pictures so I didn’t pay that close attention. The third game we played the girls brought around cups of water and then ice cubes with plastic babies frozen in the ice. I know weird, but once your baby was free of the ice you yelled out “My Water Broke!” to win a prize.  While we were waiting for our water to break they handed out envelopes with a number written on the outside. I got #3 which meant that the baby would open my envelope on her 3rd birthday. Inside the envelope was a piece of paper that we wrote a letter to her. Super cute idea and there was enough people there that she’ll have a letter until her 32nd bday I think.  Mildred and I got teary eyed just thinking about the little girl opening letters from her great-grandma’s (they are up there in age) long after they are gone. I wasn’t paying attention to my surroundings and after I finished my letter I realized that my water had broken. So I yelled it really loud.  Then everyone started laughing at me. Someone had already won the game 5 minutes earlier. lol

My beautiful sister writing her letter to the baby.

Opening gifts. I gave Nik the same monthly birthday stickers that Kat @ Living Like the Kings has for Addison. Definitely something she hadn’t received yet. On some items I’d ask Mildred what that was and she’d shrugg so I’d ask Nik’s aunt sitting beside me. The one that really got me was sassy bags.  Never heard of them before.

The little redhead is Nik’s niece that her daddy died last year. She is so freaking cute.

Most baby showers I go to I have no clue when we play games. The last one I went to they had put baby items in a white baggy and you had to answer what it was just by feeling it.  Uh….I got 5 out of 20 right and I cheated off my neighbor for three of those answers.  So this one was really fun. I wasn’t put on the spot once and I felt really comfortable.

Another reason I went to the shower was because there was going to be cake. Not just any cake, but Wilma cake. Nik and I both had the same lady make our wedding cakes and Wilma didn’t disappiont this time either. I whispered to Nik that I came for the cake and she said, “ME TOO!” lol Do we have our priorities straight or what!

SOOC Sunday

I found this great link up called Straight out of the Camera Sunday. Most of the pictures I take are SOOC. I don’t do a lot of editting on any of my pictures so I think this is an awesome post. To see more SOOC shots visit Murrieta 365

Old farmsteads make me sad. I know a lot of promise and love was put into this farm, but for some reason it is abandoned. It could be times got tough on the land, people passed away or the farmers got too old to farm anymore.  With so many young kids moving away and not coming back this type of thing happens more and more in Kansas.  If no one moves into these farmsteads then slowly the farm start to fall apart.  Really sad.
