Thanksgiving Part 2

I was so happy to have Friday all to myself.  Well TNT was home working in the shop, but I didn’t have to leave the farm once. So I burned DVD’s from my Flip Video and then I dove head first into scrapbooking.  When the weather turns cold its my favorite thing to do.  I also watched Gossip Girl all day long while I was scrapbooking.  It was a good day.  And all I can say about Gossip Girl, I really hope that high school age kids don’t watch that show.

Anyway, on Saturday we drove the 4 miles over to the in-laws house for Thanksgiving with them. My MIL cooking spaghetti and lasagna.  The FIL decided Friday evening that they would make Italian rather than their already in the brine turkey. I think I know where TNT got his “let’s not plan anything” attitude! lol

The man who changes his plans 6 hours before the turkey goes on the Treager.

It was terribly windy and the gust were hitting 56 mph. Not a fun day to play outside. So what do farm raised kids do when it’s crappy outside. We play basketball in the shop. Yes the toolbox, work bench, pickup and welder are out-of-bounds.

After games of PIG the Brother-in-law decided we should play some real basketball. The BIL and niece teamed up against the nephew and I.  The nephew and BIL are wrestlers and the niece wasn’t too thrilled about playing so I pretty much gave the ball to the nephew all the time. I didn’t want to skool them! lol Just kidding.  The game was 5-4 with the BIL & niece winning.  The niece decided next point wins so I bounce passed it to the nephew and we won!

Molly is a baller too!

After the game we all went back to the house and the FIL kept telling me that I have one hell of a jump shot.  After the 5th time I finally said, “I sure as hell better have a good jump shot since I spent 8 years trying to perfect it!” lol

We spent the rest of the day playing board games and just visiting with TNT’s two gma’s.  It was a great day and my MIL makes the best pecan pie (made with Splenda) you’ll ever eat. I actually prefer the Splenda pie to the regular one!

Sunday we gathered at my Dad’s house for the only turkey meal we had. TNT and I were craving us some turkey and let me tell you my dad didn’t disappoint!

Thanksgiving Part 1

My family is a little weird when it comes to the holiday season.  For my mom & step-dad the perfect Christmas is just being together so this Thanksgiving we decided to combine Thanksgiving and Christmas. We just exchange a few gifts and then spend the afternoon together.  It was a great time and I love my family.

My presents this year are so pretty. Or so I think.

My favorite uncle stopped by to say hello.

TNT and I bought Mildred’s bff a Swamp People shirt. He loved it.

Of course my hubby can’t smile for a good picture.

My step-dad opening his tool bag gifts.

Mildred’s bf bought her hunting gear since they are going deer hunting next month.  I think she prolly needs different shoes though. lol

We took Molly along with us to my parents house and if you saw the first picture on this post you’ll see the gift tag was all glittery.  My mother decided to rub that gift tag all over Molly.  So she could have been the Cullen’s family dog since she sparkled in the sun. (okay I feel really juvenile that I even know who the Cullen’s are.)

Someone is going to steal my bone

Molly makes a BIG production out of hiding her bones. I call them bones but they are hard chew stuff with dried yogurt in the middle.  Not rawhide! I do not feed my dogs rawhide. Ask my mother and boss what happens when their dogs eat rawhide and can’t pass it. $1000 worth of vet surgery bills. Anyway, Molly takes her bones and runs around the house searching for the perfect spot. When she finds the spot it’s so much drama to watch her “dig” then cover it up just right.  Sunday night she found that perfect spot under the blanket and pillow on the couch. After supper TNT, the kids and I settled downstairs.  Tails was sitting on the end table and TNT was telling Molly she better go check her bone cause Tails might have stolen it. She’d look from TNT to Tails then to where her bone was hidden. She knew exactly what he was talking about.

After that TNT sat on that couch where she’d hid the bone and acted like he was messing with it. He got up and moved to the other couch and she was right there to check it out and decided it wasn’t a good hiding place.  After 30 min of deciding just the right place for it she came back downstairs.  Around 9:00 we headed up to bed. Pulled back the covers and there beside TNT’s pillow was her “well hidden” bone!

The whole time this is going on I always think of the investment commercial on TV where the dog hides the bone then dreams the cat steals it.  I just know that’s what Molly is thinking. lol

I miss my little Molly, but she sure was ALOT of work back then.  She’s behaving so much better, THANKFULLY!

The Tickets Have Been Ordered

In 204 days my Mom, Mildred, MIL and I will be packed and ready to head to Nebraskaland Days once again. I’d like to turn it into a yearly event for us girls, but we’ll see who they bring in for entertainment each year.
I got word last week that Toby Keith & Brantley Gilbet. (Brantley is actually on the radio as I type this!) Last year we saw our main man Blake Shelton, fellow Kansasan Jarrod Neiman and then some other guy named Brad Paisley (literally, yawn). I have to say I’ve been a Blake fan since 2001 when he topped the chart with “Austin.” But to see him in person. He blows you away! I’m not kidding. Everyone was dancing and singing along then Brad came out and you could see the people leaving. It was sad. Although something happened at that concert that I have never seen before. Brad was deep in his guitar solo showing off then he just stops. He laughs and says, “Well this is a first, a junebug just ruined my solo.” lol

Over the weekend had to search for Brantley on youtube and I was surprised to see his song is #1. It’s funny cause I know the songs just not who sings them. So I’m pretty sure we’ll be in for a treat with Brantley.

Anyone gonna be in Western Nebraska in June? Come on out!

Shoot Me

Forever In Blue Jeans

Mildred took this of me two weekends ago when we were at the lake.  It’s my MIL’s wig and her crazy glasses. lol I can pull this look off right?  Hello….is anyone there? 🙂 Happy Thursday everyone. Not only is it only 2 more days until the weekend, but it’s 5 days until a FOUR DAY WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you see all those Coke products in the background? Well this is in the cabin at the lake. My MIL does not particularly care for Coke memorabilia. However, the previous owners had those Coke trays along the ledge in the kitchen. Over the years the rest of the cabin area people, thinking the MIL collected Coke things, keep giving her these items.  She’s too nice to throw them out so she happily accepts the gift and puts it with her collection of items she wishes she didn’t collect. lol Now that my friends is a super nice lady!

Winner

Sorry guys. I know I was supposed to announce the winner last Friday.  But to be honest I completely forgot. Then TNT and I headed to Denver to see a cardiologist. TNT’s dad had a heart attack at 35 and TNT thought it would be a good thing to have his heart checked. He did some tests on Monday then told him to come back Tuesday for a heart cath. uhhhhh!!  I was scrambling cause I was lucky to get one day off work right in the middle of harvest and then not being home elevated my husbands’ stress.  We finally left Denver last night at 7:30 central time and home at 11:00. It was a long drive home with my husband complaining that it felt like a constant kick to his Wobbles.  But good news his arteries are clear. When the doctor came into the room where TNT was he said, “And now we have the third generation of the T Family.”  The doc came out to talk to me after the procedure and said TNT has his mother genes thankfully!

So now to the winners.  Tami Weignartner , danielle &  Janet Phillips.

Thanks guys for playing. You can email me at carrielynn80@hotmail.com to claim your link.

Friday Five

Today I’m thinking about gifts I’m buying for the holidays.

1. I bought my FIL a cool fishing rod organizer. It fits around a 5 gallon bucket and has pockets for all his fishing poles and then the do-dads that go with fishing.  I’m also going to buy him a Cabela’s gift card so he can buy all that cool fisherman stuff.

2. I’m getting my MIL a firewood caddy. She uses one of those big wagons to go up and down the stairs. Crazy woman!! This thing has big wheels so it should work really good like a dolly but with a rack on it to hold firewood.

3. I’m getting TNT tickets to the PBR (Professional Bull Riders).  Not sure which one cause it’s a good 4 -6 hour drive no matter which event we go to.  We watch it on TV alot and I know he’d enjoy the live event.  That’s one of those events if you have good seats its a good live show. Mildred and I went to an event in KC back in 2004 and we had a blast.

4. I’m getting my step-dad a subscription to Netflix. Him and my mom watch lots of movies and really is there anything better than Netflix? I think not.

5. I’m giving Mildred……hahahahaha……Mildred did you really think I would reveal your awesome present on here? Nope you have to wait until Thanksgiving when we exchange gifts.  [evil cackle] 🙂  My mom reads this too so that’s why I didn’t say what I’m getting her either.

Oh crap what do I get my dad?

Mildred and I went to a college volleyball game on Saturday. We got there about 10 min before there was hardly any people there. Just a few students and a few fans.  I was thinking, uhh this’ll be fun. Then the game started and the fans started coming in. I actually think it’s sad that not more people came out because the vball team is alot of fun to watch and in the next two years they are going to be good.  Their team consists of 4 juniors and 1 senior and the starters were mostly freshman and sophomores.  So there is definately potential there.

Okay now to the entertainment.  On the end of the court the bleachers were pulled out and that was where the students sat.  Three students went ALL out and dressed up. One guy was dressed like Chris from JackAss and wearing shorty shorts and tennis shoes.  And during a timeout or between sets he’d get up and dance and that boy could move. Well then these two guys came wearing full body suits.  One was dressed in all black so you couldn’t really distinguish different parts. But the other boy was wearing a bright yellow body suit. And well things were poking out in plain sight to the whole  coliseum to see.

Mildred and I decided he either had a mirror that only was shoulder-high or his roommate said, “oh you can’t see Mr. Wiggly.” Well the guy would try to hide it by holding his hands in front of himself, or leaning over and then scrunching up the area. We were laughing so hard and kind of felt a little sorry for him. Here he comes to support the vball team but then has to sit down most of the time because he’s embarrassed.

During intermission he had gathered with his friends and they were all looking down at his Mr. Wiggly and trying to come up with a way to “hide” it. Remember he’s wearing a FULL body suit!  We were watching this exchange very closely as were most of the people in the stands.  One of guy circle of guys said, “tuck it” and did the motion with his hand.  Mildred and I were not the only ones laughing about this exchange.   The poor kid finally gave up and just sat on the bleachers the rest of the game.

Fun Weekend!

Have you entered my 25 free Christmas card giveway?

I have been super busy at work with sunflower harvest.  Things slowed down on Friday which meant I didn’t have to work late! I got home cleaned house, burned some pictures to CD’s and got supper ready.  Mildred came out to spend the night around 8.  We watched Fashion Police on E! and then headed to bed.

Saturday morning Mildred made her famous omelets. Seriously they are awesome!!!!  After we cleaned up the kitchen we headed to the lake. Side Note: I should mention that normally guests don’t have to cook when they come to our house it was just that I had a breakfast bake all ready to go for Sunday morning at the lake and we decided since I have a dishwasher at home it would be easier to make the omelets at home. I go to the lake to relax and not stand in front of the sink washing dishes! The breakfast bake only required a spatula since we used a throw away pan, plastic forks and paper plates.

Once down at the lake Mildred started scrapbooking and I started editing pictures.  TNT showed up a little bit later for a “relaxing’ day. Haha My husband can’t sit still and within 30 minutes he was starting to pace.  At 3:00 Mildred and I drove to Hays. While she was in the shoe store I went over to Christopher and Banks. They were having a big sale. I got two $80 sweaters for $22 each. I was pretty happy with that.  Afterwards we ate supper then headed to my alma mater Fort Hays State University to watch them play a team out of Missouri.  It was an awesome game that went to 5 sets with FHSU coming out on top.  I was really surprised at how into the game we got.  We cheered right along side the die-hard fans. Tomorrow I will detail the entertainment that kept us laughing not only during the game but most of the day yesterday!

Mildred and I went back to the lake to my husband who by this time was going completely crazy cause there is so much to do at home and he’s just sitting around watching Late Model racing and watching the Wildcats lose.

Sunday morning TNT took off at 7 cause he just had to get home to work!  I finished editing pictures then Mildred and I dove into scrapbooking.  By 4:00 we were on the road headed home.  I can say it was a great weekend and much-needed after how busy I’ve been at work.

Friday Five

Five signs Facebook is slowly making me go insane.

1. When you are talking to someone IN PERSON after they something you agree with your brain starts searching for the “LIKE” button. Or you say like like like in your head. Luckily I can usually stop myself before I blurt it out.

2. I’m not playing any farming games right now (FarmTown, CountryLife or the most recent Frontierville)  but when I was full on Frontierville mode I got into my MIL’s account and set it up there too.  The scary thing….Mildred now plays both mine and the MIL cause she’s obsessed with the dumb game!  To be fair if they hadn’t changed the format of it I would still be playing too.

3. When you play these dumb farming games you start seeing things in real life that are in the game. My dad had some bushes that looked just like the wheat in countrylife. Everytime I’d walk up to his house I’d look at them and think harvest time.

4. Another one about farming games.  You friend people just because they are friends with your farm playing friends so you can have more neighbors.  Sad but true.

5. My gma says, “can you get on that book face thing and find Leona’s granddaughter.” Sigh!
