This was Molly this morning.  I think I heard her moan when my alarm started going off at 6:40 am.

Last night I took her along when I road my bike. When Trixie was still alive she  would run as fast as I could go. I kept a retractable leash on her.  We’d make it 4 miles and she wouldn’t be tired. Yet I’d be pooped. So last night I decided it’s finally cooling off temperature wise  to ride.  Molly runs one speed and right beside me. We got 3/4 of a mile from the house and Molly was slowing down. So we slowly made our way back.  It’s just so weird that I use to have to hurry to keep up with Trix and now when I get done I think I could have gone another mile at least. But 1 1/2 miles wasn’t too bad for my first time out. I think I might leave Molly at home the next time I ride so I can get a good workout.

Yesterday Mildred and I went to our cousin’s great grandma’s funeral.  After lunch we went out to the farm where my uncle lives and was the place my grandma lived until she retired and moved to town.  She had an upholstery shop and all that material is left over. I decided instead of buying all those expensive backdrops online I could just use the material she had and cut the backdrop to whatever size I want.  Anyway, on our way out to the farm I may have let a tiny little stinky go. Just a little one and it may have smelled up the car just a tiny bit. I really think Mildred overreacted to it, but whatever. Anyway, I opened all four windows in my Terrain to let that tiny not so bad smell out.  After the car was aired I rolled up the windows.  We heard this weird noise and kind of looked at each other. Then I looked in the side mirror and Mildred looked to the back seat. The dress I wore had a jacket that went with it and since I wasn’t sure if I was going to wear it I just hung it up in the back seat on the clothing hook. Well when I rolled the winda down the jacket (thankfully still hanging on the hook) flew out the winda. Then when I rolled it up it was flapping outside of the car.  We start laughing and Mildred yells, “don’t roll the winda down.” Well duh!  I had to pull over because I was laughing to hard I couldn’t even see the road.  Happy to say the jacket was rescued!

PS How many of you watched “Saved By The Bell” growing up? I know I did and was devastated when Kelly broke up with Zack for Jeff.  Anyway, on one episode Screech had a gf named Linda. The whole gang was in a car and Screech was talking on the cell phone which was as big as my office phone. Lisa piped up if Linda don’t shut up she’s gonna go out the winda.  So now window is always winda!

Lending a Helping Hand

Last Wednesday Mildred had a jewelry party. I told her I’d make a veggie pizza for her if she made the crescent roll crust. After work on Wednesday the MIL, (Ali) a friend and I headed over to the town Mildred lives in.  We couldn’t find the crust. In the fridge there was a can of crescent rolls so I hurried and got them in the oven thinking Mildred ran out of time and didn’t make the crust. While it was baking I cut up the carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, onions. I was ready for the cream cheese & sour cream mixture, but the cream cheese wasn’t room temp. I opened the microwave to throw the cream cheese in and there was the crescent roll crust. She’d stored it in the microwave instead of the fridge.  ohhhhh! I went to grab the pan out of the microwave and I slammed my forehead right into the corner of the cabinet above the stove. You know how it is when you do something stupid in front of people you act like it doesn’t really hurt.  Ali kept asking if I was okay and I said oh yes I’m fine. Then I turned around to look at Ali and her eyes got big. She said I can see it growing. I reached up and there was a huge goose egg and blood.  Luckily it wasn’t a bad cut, but there was a bruise along with the bump.  After the food was done I sat on the recliner with an ice pack.

You can see the bruise and ouchie on the right side of my head!   The next morning the swelling went down, but it’s still really sore to touch. I still have an indention were I nailed the corner!  I tried to hide it, but my comb over didn’t look very nice.  My boss and I were joking about something and she goes do you want another goose egg on your forehead cause you’ll look really funny with two comb overs! lol

See what happens when you help someone? You get a big ole goose egg on your forehead!

An Invader

There was a new kitty on the porch Sunday evening.  We haven’t had a farm cat for about 2 years now which means Molly has never seen one roaming the farm.  Since we live on such a busy highway I never want to come home to find one of the kitties dead.  So I don’t want outside cats.

This is what they did for 3 hours.

I put Molly in the harness and took her outside to “meet” the kittie.  Well this kitty has claws where Tails doesn’t so Molly wasn’t quite sure about this invader.  When Molly goes to the in laws house they have barn cats, but they are not tame and they hide as soon as Molly arrives.

You can kind of see the kitty sitting on the patio furniture. She’s grey & white.

Frugal shopper

I went to visit my gma this past weekend in Central Kansas. I had to stop in a buy in bulk at Sam’s Club. It’s a must.  Here at home I pay $5.50 for 3 boneless chicken breasts at Walmart. If I go to the grocery store I will pay close to $8. So when I have the chance I never pass up Sam’s.  I was able to buy two containers of  boneless breasts for  right around $23.  That’s 18 breasts.

I make 3 boneless breasts when I cook for TNT & I. That’s $3.60 a meal when it comes to the protein.

Then I use my food vacuum storage device so I can freeze everything.

I also bought some pork chops. We don’t eat a whole lot of pork, but it’s nice to have something different every once in a while. I bought 9 chops for $8.55 which is $0.95 each. Or $2.85 for the protein in our meal!

We eat a lot of steamed fresh veggies (carrots, green beans, cauliflower, broccoli (TNT, not me), sugar snap peas.

4 miles per hour!

TNT decided to pull the old Model D John Deere tractor out of the Morton building. Here is this post and this post I did two years ago when we got it running the last time. It usually takes a while to get it started.  A tractor that is 76 years old sputters and coughs a lot before it’ll start. After two hours of pulling TNT around the yard he finally got it running. TNT cleaned out a shed at some land we own and decided to store it in there instead of at our place.  It’s 1 1/2 miles over there.  This is what I saw for 16 minutes.

You look to the left. (that big building is where the tractor had been stored.)

Then to the right.

Then behind you.

Then TNT kept looking behind him to see where I was. AND he kept making sure his butt crack wasn’t showing! lol

Then I’d mess with the windows while Molly was looking out.

Then I’d look to the left again.

Then over to the right again.

Then I’d get real close to him and he’d look over his shoulder real fast. You have to make your own fun when you are idling at 4 mph.

Vet Day

Last Saturday was vet day. Molly was up for all her shots and Tails had to have his 6 month blood work done.

Molly is a good traveler. She usually lays down to sleep.

Tails isn’t real happy about traveling.

See Mom I’m behaving!

I want to go home. He looked out the back window like Noooooooo.

I’m happy to report that Molly is a healthy dog (sniffle she’s no longer a puppy!) She now weighs in at 52 pounds. No wonder it’s so hard to push her off the bed!  Molly wasn’t very nice to the Dr. Tammy or the vet tech. She nipped at them. Not a snap but a warning like I don’t like this at all. So she had to wear a Hannibal Lector mask. Molly’s one of those dogs that likes to come to your on her own terms and that doesn’t work in a vets office.  So from now on I’ll be sure to tell them she needs a muzzle.

Tails was the one I was really worried about. Back around Thanksgiving he got really sick and lost 4 pounds. His liver counts were pretty high so I’ve been sweating this appointment. Plus he just turned 12 years old and I’m always so worried what his blood work will come back as bad. But this time the results were great! He’s as healthy as can be and for his age she’s really happy with how healthy he is!

A Few Things….

These are some things I’ve thought about or came across these past few weeks.

1. Two days in a row I left laundry in the washer (darks with towels!) I blame it on hurrying home from work to start working on the garage then rushing to get dinner going and laundry done. Two nights in a row I went to bed without putting the laundry in the dryer.  Which means I didn’t find it until I got home the next night from work.  Everything smelled so badly.  I rewashed it and still it smelled bad!! They all had a really bad body order smell to them. I should mention they DIDN’T have that smell when they went in! So I went to the internet to find ways to remove the sour smell.  I filled the washer with the hottest water (for your clothes type) completely full. Then added baking soda & the clothes. Put a cup of vinegar in on the rinse cycle.  My clothes came out smelling really fresh! I’m not kidding when I say I thought I was going to have to throw them away!

2. Until last night I hadn’t washed my car in about 6 weeks.  Normally my car gets washed every week. During the winter every other week. I was going crazy with how dirty it was, but too many other projects going on to deal with that. The sunflower plant I work at the fine sunflower dust gets on your vehicle and you have to wash it by hand to get it off.  It’s an oily substance. It can do a lot of damage to your vehicles paint if not washed frequently.  When it gets on your windshield you don’t want to turn on your wipers, but there are times you have to so you have a greasy streaked windshield. Not fun!

3. How can we be in the middle of August already?

4. My garden is done for this year, except for the potatoes. Has been for a while.  When you have weeks of 100+ degree days there’s no chance even when you water every day.  I had given up on it and last Monday walked out to to dig some potatoes for supper when low and behold I had lots of red tomatoes ready to be picked. So I guess the secret this year is to ignore them and not water.

5. When I read Katie’s post on Marriage Confessions about her Dad passing away I bawled like a baby. Isn’t it weird how all us bloggers and readers become family?  I called Mildred right away and she cried too.  Just so sad!   Prayers with the family!

6. Mildred and I talk on msn messenger all day long.  This is what she wrote to me the other morning.

Mildred: I have 2 kitties for sale

Me: Oh no what did they do

Mildred: They played tag alllll night long and used Mom as base

Me: hahahahahahahahaha welcome to motherhood!

7. I started watching One Tree Hill on Netflix this Spring, but I became hooked immediately. I was going through the episodes so fast I decided to take a break from that show. Then I started watching Bones. OMG! That show has consumed me too!!  I love it!! There is so much dry humor in it and I wipe tears some times because the “Squints” don’t get it and Booth is like hello!  My favorite is that the FBI agent Booth is scared of clowns! OMG! Makes for some funny scenes!

Anyway, one evening I was sitting on the porch with my Nook watching an episode about these college kids who went out in the woods where the headless lady legend lived. It’s getting really scary and then I realize I’m sitting on the porch and all these weird sounds are coming from the yard. I made world record time sprinting to the house.  I finished watching it the next day when it was still light out.

Please Explain to me……..

Why I’m the one who worked my butt off on finishing the garage and these two are the ones worn out?

Why do they get to sleep?

It’s Finally Finished!

After 40 days our garage is finally finished! I am so happy.  When we started this project on July 4th I told TNT this was not a good time to start such a big project since we had a mini vacation, wedding, a bunch of photograph sessions, a birthday party, every day normal life to attend too and of course a girls night to see Magic Mike.

We went from this.

To this. New side door, two new garage doors, all new hardy board siding and a good cleaning.  We closed up the windows at the peak because it seemed the glass always got broke so we’d have birds, bats & owls in there.  One night I opened up the side door (that also got replaced) and there was a bat showing its fangs at me.  Scared me to death. Then another night I opened the door and there was a great big white owl. I slammed the door real quick then thought maybe it’s Hedwig and maybe he’s brought me a letter saying I’m really a wizard.  No such luck. TNT said we need to put something above the doors since it’s a lot of bare space and I suggested a large Jayhawk.  He didn’t like my idea and I didn’t like his idea of a Wildcat so we’ll compromise and put a big T up there.

(haha my spell checker didn’t like Hedwig and it suggested Dwight! I would think Dwight K Schrute would be happy that it suggested his name for a Harry Potter word!)

This was during the painting process. I primed everything then painted. I used a brush and not a spray gun. I think the brush is the better way to go especially with this being new siding. On Sunday I was up on the forklift painting. TNT left the farm. Uhhh how am I supposed to get down?  I had to climb down the forklift down onto it.  So I moved the forlkift to the other side and climbed back up! lol  I had a session on Saturday night and the gal brought her horses out. Well the tire on her horse trailer broke off and we can’t find it. So TNT went to look for the tire while I was up on the forklift.  While he was out looking he met the gal who’s tire had fallen off, she was searching for it too. She asked if I was home and TNT started laughing and said, “she’s not going anywhere. I left her up on the forklift to paint!.”  Smart butt!!

No my husband does not smoke….not sure what was in his mouth.

I’m so relieved it’s finished.
