2016 Week 26

The kitties received their meowbox on Monday.  Pinot Meow so you’re not drinking along! OMG!! LOL  And anchovies. EWWWW.

Tuesday brought wheat harvest along with TNT’s 43rd birthday. The nephew gave him a present of a plugged combine.   BIG TIME!IMG_1912

There is so much straw this year (chest high wheat calls for lots of straw) and since this is the first time I’ve driven grain cart with straw like this I got it stuck between the wheels. All of this I dug out. Took forever and the combines had to come to the truck to unload.IMG_1927

Friday night sunset over our house.IMG_1936

Saturday my dad came out to drive truck and helped my nephew unplug his combine YET AGAIN!IMG_1940

The MIL didn’t want me to take the grain cart on Saturday so this dude and I napped before my senior session.IMG_1944

Sunday I went out and started putting straw in my garden.  With all the straw I don’t have to ration it.  Found 2 cucumbers.IMG_1948

I’d like to see weeds get through knee high straw. May have over done it but it’ll be great mulch for the garden next year!IMG_1951

How to tell if you live in a small town?

This store has these setting outside 24-7 without being tied down. Says a lot about our town….now don’t get me wrong that doesn’t mean things don’t get stolen, but these have been here for a while now.IMG_1849

2016 Garden

It was going to be a small garden this year. Really it was, but then……..

It became this huge monster.

THE.BAKER'S_0043

Five rows of potatoes. I think they are about 10 feet long.THE.BAKER'S_0043

3 plants of hot peppers and 4 of sweet/bell peppers.THE.BAKER'S_0037

Six tomato plants. My dad made me new cages for them. THE.BAKER'S_0035

A few volunteer pumpkin plants. I’m not sure if they will produce anything, but I’m leaving them. THE.BAKER'S_0034

I tried planting cucumbers from seeds this year but the darn rabbits dug them out of the ground before they even broke the surface.  I bought 5 new plants from the greenhouse and started over. But those rabbits didn’t get the two seeds here on the right. I have 3 plants of pickling cucs and then 2 of salad cucs.THE.BAKER'S_0023

I also planted 8 rows of zinnia’s.  Yes they are a flower, but they bring in good insects and it makes me so happy to see flowers when I walk back to the garden. Rabbits are eating them also! grrrr.THE.BAKER'S_0036

I pulled out my mantis tiller on Sunday and went to town getting rid of all those damn weeds.  The rains have been wonderful but they sprout weeds.  My potato plants had so much grass growing on the mounds so I weeded them all on my hands and knees.  I was actually surprised I wasn’t tired or sore after spending 2 hours like that.

2016 Week 25

Broke my toe nail. 😦 I had been working in the garden…which is why my feet are dirty……and when I used this foot to slip off the other shoe snap.IMG_1825

Senior session Tuesday night turned out amazing!IMG_1834

Friday night this little dude showed up at the farm.  Looks like he’s had a hard life so far. Something to a hold of him and messed up his lower jaw, but he seems to be doing better. Very loud and hungry.IMG_1874

I had sessions Tues, Sat and Sun so there was mowing, watering and lots of picture editing.

This Girl!

I caught Molly trying to crawl up a cedar tree to get to a nest of Doves.

THE.BAKER'S_0057

I think she is laughing at me.  I’d rather have her go after rabbits so they stay out of my garden!THE.BAKER'S_0055

2016 Wheat Crop

Memorial Day I took these pictures of our wheat.   You can take a look at where it started back in October.

The kernel is filling out and will start to harden the longer it sits.  IMG_1778

TNT is guessing early next week the field will ripen and we will start rolling in with combines.

2017 Seniors

Here are a few of my favorites so far this summer.

IMG_1792-2

I have no words for this one.IMG_1802-2

Funny thing about this session. I had bought this dress last year and never wore it so I gave it to Mildred. She wore it for her wedding rehearsal then left it at our house. She asked if I could bring it when we met up for this session and I asked her if she would mind if Callie wore it. She said no.  I was thinking no way would Callie like something an old lady bought, but she asked to wear it not once but for two clothing changes. I couldn’t believe it.IMG_1811-2

I will arm wrestle anyone who says their clients are better than mine.  Mine are the BEST!IMG_1804-2

2016 Week 24

Senior pics started and I had two this past week. Phew! It has also started getting hot. VERY HOT, but this lady will NEVER complain about it.

Friday night I mixed ham, asparagus, green beans, onions and garlic. TNT turned his nose up to it at first but then admitted it was pretty good.

IMG_1796

Ran into this dude at a session. I’m easily distracted when I see livestock.IMG_1790-2

Molly was cooling herself off while the soaker hoses were going in the garden.  Rabbits have pretty much mowed my garden. So strange since they don’t normally eat most of the stuff they are eating…….not like they are starving either.IMG_1786

Tails helped me edit pictures Saturday night.IMG_1801

Around the Farm

I rented a new lens for the month of June to take senior pictures. It is a Canon 24-70mm f/2.8. It’s a great lens so I took it out to play with it.

My clementis is beautiful!THE.BAKER'S_0005

I had this pot made up by the greenhouse for the wedding. I am loving how it is growing and blooming.THE.BAKER'S_0007

The newest additions to my front porch.  I love these little chicks.THE.BAKER'S_0096

And another addition to my fence that hides the propane tank.THE.BAKER'S_0014

I headed back by the trees and our pine tree row is slowing growing.THE.BAKER'S_0019

But our cedar trees are looking amazing! ❤

THE.BAKER'S_0020

Found these beauties.

In my flower beds I think I finally got this ground cover to take off.  It is from my grandma’s and this is the first year I could get it going.
