The Animal Doctor

Yes, he is an animal Doctor.

No, he does most of his work outside the vet’s office.

Yes, he seems to have a natural gift as a healer.

No, he charges very little for his service.

Yes, he has a great bedside manner.

No, he doesn’t explain really what’s wrong.

Yes, he just fixes the pain and goes on.

No, I haven’t seen his license.

Yes, he does resonate in abundance.


No, I don’t know how many clients he has.

Yes, I’m really thankful he’s my doctor.

No, I’ve never seen his Doctor’s office.

Yes, I’d recommend his services to anyone.

No, he doesn’t require medical insurance.

Yes, it does sound too good to be true.

No, I am not mistaken.

Yes, he is my cat.

This poem was written after I had told him that I had a tummyache one day and my cat Abundance came and sat down on my belly for awhile. When he got up, I realized that my stomach no longer hurt. He truly was a healer that cat, written in honor of my handsome cat Abundance

Putting on the Pooch

Update about my Cici girl….

SHE HAS GAINED SIX POUNDS… she had lost 14 pounds. Now to recap, she had fleas and possibly a tapeworm so I tried EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN and nothing natural really worked for her, the aromatherapies just made her rashy and itchy. Finally, I took her to the vet.  She is still somewhat itchy but I have ordered some doggie shampoo for her and an anti-itchy spray (herbal) that hopefully will take care of the issues. I talked to the company and found that I could get the products at a slightly better price and no shipping charge on Amazon.

I have been giving her an extra meal a day to put the weight back on and it is working.

No more fleas.  Now the vet gave me drugs to give to her including antibiotics. I gave her them for a couple of weeks but then it seemed to me that the drugs were making her rashier and itchier so I stopped.

And the medicated shampoo she gave us got Cici all greasy and did not stop the itchies.

So now am giving Cici the Herbal Internal Powder and No More Flea Drops from earthanimal.com that Kate suggested and it appears to be working since she is due for her flea medication and has NONE.  We shall see.

The powder and drops adjust the blood chemistry so that the fleas do NOT like the taste of it anymore. The powder is filled with good stuff like alfalfa, kelp, blue green algae, and the drops have wormwood (good to taking care of tapeworms), and other ingredients. I still have the confortis from the vet if necessary but am hoping that the powder and drops will work.

And we are not due back to the vet for a month and Cici should be back to her normal weight by next week. Am back to feeding her Canine Health by Dr. Harvey’s and a can of dog food (a huge can from Trader Joe’s). The rabbit and turkey burgers are great AND kind of expensive.

Voila.

and the big lump you see hiding under the cover is Cici LOL… If/when I put a cover over her, she will just stay like that until I take it off again… what can I say, she’s weird that way…

RIP sweet Lucas

An anthropologist proposed a game to the kids in an African tribe. He put a basket full of fruit near a tree and told the kids that who ever got there first won the sweet fruits. When he told them to run they all took each other’s hands and ran together, then sat together enjoying their treats. When he asked them why they had run like that as one could have had all the fruits for himself they said: “UBUNTU, how can one of us be happy if all the other ones are sad?”

‘UBUNTU’ in the Xhosa culture means: “I am because we are”

“Garcia doesn’t seem to mind the interruption, and we’re ushered through the door. The first dog we see is a large, dirty blond Pit Bull with a huge head and knowing, resigned eyes. His face, torso, and legs bear the unmistakable scars of fierce battle. Clearly, this dog hasn’t been in just a scrape or two, he’s had to fight for his life. Yet, as we step closer, his whole body wiggles and wags.

“This is Lucas,” says Garcia. “He’s a grand champion. He’s probably been fought more than 25 times.”

Lucas nuzzles his head into the crook of my elbow. He darts over to greet my husband, all kisses and play bows. It’s hard to imagine a dog being any friendlier, and we fall all over him in return. He’s irresistible.”

The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a beautiful place called “The Rainbow Bridge”.

When a beloved pet dies, that pet goes to the Rainbow Bridge.
It is a land of meadows, hills and colorful
valleys with lush green grass.
There is always plenty of food, water and sunshine
and our little friends are warm and comfortable.

There all the animals who had been ill and old
are young again, restored to health and vigor.
Those who have been hurt or maimed are made whole and strong.
The animals play all day and are happy and content
but there is one thing missing.
They each miss someone who they left behind.

Someone very special who loved and cared for them on earth.
Then the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up.
The bright eyes are intent and the body quivers with excitement.
Suddenly that one runs away from the group
flying over the green grass, running faster and faster.

You have been spotted.
And when you and your special friend meet again,
you take them in your arms and embrace.
Happy kisses rain upon your face. Your hands caress your beloved friend.
You look once more into the trusting eyes of your faithful pet.

Today we keep Handsome Dan’s family in our thoughts as they say goodbye to Jake. we are thankful to them to have the strength to ease the pain of many. we are thankful for the love they have that fills the hearts and souls of all beings around them. Today please send them strength and love to ease their pain and fill their hearts and souls as they go through this tough time. We love you guys!

Cici and I are sending lots of love, comforting thoughts, healing and prayers to Jake…Handsome Dan, Heather and Mark… this morning as Jake crosses over to the Rainbow Bridge… blessings, run free Bluegrass Jake… run free… into the light, hear the music… good boy…lots of friends and family waiting for you there…

Tornado survivor dogs in Alabama

Friends, on the show Pit Bulls and Parolees last night, they showed how tornadoes devastated and killed people and dogs in Tuscaloosa, AL… A dog rescue there, K9 Camp, lost 22 dogs (out of 50+)…  they are in the process of rebuilding the buildings they had, and dogs and humans are now living out of tents…

for me personally, watching the episode, it was intense. One family lost EVERYTHING except each other and they had already been through a lot personally.

They need a lot of assistance… donations of food, treats, leashes, dog bones, crates, kennels, building supplies and cash are welcome and volunteers to help them rebuild.  Please do what you can to help, and please let others in your network know too.  here’s info.

Are dogs religious/spiritual beings?

Such a question may seem silly, sacreligious and/or sacred, depending upon your point of view… people have their own beliefs and opinions about animals/pets and they run the gamut as you will see below…many pet owners/animal lovers believe our pets to be angels, divine creatures, and/or treasured family members. But are they sentient beings with a soul?

Dogs are 100% impure, whether you agree or not. On medical grounds and several reason which could only be understood when your spiritual purity is intact. Yes, Islam doesn’t allow to kill dogs or torture them. Islam allows to keep dogs but outside your premises. You can feed them you can take care of them but you have to be careful for yourself too. Saliva of the Dogs is believed to be highly dangerous for human and causes extreme impurity. It is a Satanic tool to keep angels away from you who are always praying for your salvation and saving you from possible threats (much to do with the reflexes). A judge in Texas just decided that dogs are NOT property…

In Texas a state appeals court has made a groundbreaking ruling that a dog’s value is greater than the market value.

…The Second Court of Appeals in Fort Worth overturned a lower court’s ruling that a couple whose dog was wrongfully euthanized was entitled to damages for only the dog’s monetary worth. The new ruling allows for a dog’s true worth to be considered.

soothing the holiday doggie blues

ok, tis the holiday season, ho ho ho is upon us and I bet you are racing around for bargains from store to store and other madness. do you and your pooch get the blues around the holidays?  maybe it’s all that food and fun you are supposed to have but maybe you’re not having… maybe you are alone, broke, and/or just plain blue …

no worries…we’ve got some tips for you.

Spend quality time with your canine
According to research at the State University of New York at Buffalo, being around a pet provides more stress relief than being around a two-legged companion. As if we needed a study to determine that.  Good for them, good for you.

My #1 tip for addressing the holiday (or any time traveling) doggie blues is simple.  the dogs  you to want focus on them, so spend some quality time with your dog, do something just with your dog.

Most of my guests come with their dogs almost exclusively because we are incredibly pet welcoming, and most of them are doing a getaway which definitely includes (or is because of) pet dog recreation.

Yet some folks travel with their dogs physically with them, but totally ignore them once they’re here. That causes the doggie traveling blues, no matter whether they’re traveling for the holidays or a family reunion, special event (wedding, birthday, graduation), a special relaxing destination (like Crater Lake), etc.

How to fix that? Easy. Providing some FOCUS on the dog, and quality time (just taking them out to potty doesn’t cut it) will eliminate the doggie blues and also unwanted behaviors like barking, whining, scratching, chewing, clinginess, etc.

Give your dog some loving ME time and attention, belly rubs, massage, play time…

Spend some time each day really focused on your dog. Dogs can tell if you’re going for a walk but not really there (texting, chatting on your phone, thinking about how to fix the holiday dinner, worried about what to do when you get back to work, etc.). That focus, and intention of really being present with your dog will go a loooong way to keeping your pooch happy since that’s how dogs live their lives. they really appreciate and respond when we do the same for and with them.

So DO something with and for your dog, with intention and focus…do some training, and make it a game. That lets your dog exercise their mind as well as their bodies, and it’s fun play for both of you. Teach them a trick or behavior that makes you laugh. Be there for them 110% during that time. See how this little bit of focus time really enhances your bond with your dog, and makes you BOTH feel a heck of a lot better…a great way to have a little bit of sanity with all the holiday traveling craziness.
