Cats and cows and bells, oh my

The thing about both of these products are they are both equally good for use when traveing with your pet and at home. You can take them along with you on a trip, no muss, no fuss.

And these toys are just so doggone cute. Cici has been very gentle with chewing hers up, too… She has received the cat and the elephant and we have been playing tug of war with the cat. I have not allowed her to just chew it up on her own because it’s just so darned cute and it has a squeaky inside.  Kinda fragile, unlike most dog toys, but one of our favorites.  When you get one, be sure to supervise your dog so that they do not swallow the squeaky or other stuffing.

The Monkeez Makes a Difference pet toys feature a wide-variety of squeaky characters, including cats, alligators, monkeys, cows, dogs, elephants, frogs and dog bones. Each toy retails for $7.49.

In addition to pet toys, Monkeez Makes a Difference features kid-friendly
toys and tools that teach children to give back, including the best-selling
Genuine Monkeez and FriendsT plush characters, online games, real-life Do
Good challenges and a special 10% donation on each child’s behalf to one of
three nationally renowned charities of his or her choice including Best Friends Animal Society.

“There are so many children, families and animals in need not only around
the world, but in our own communities,” Chrysti Carol Propes, director
of Monkeez Makes a Difference says. “Parents are looking
for ways to teach the values of thinking of others and believing every
person can make a difference, and Monkeez Makes a Difference fulfills that
need in a unique and interactive way. On behalf of the entire Propes family,
we believe that even though they may be small, kids can make a big
difference and by creating opportunities like Monkeez Makes a Difference, we
can instill philanthropic values to last a lifetime.”

There are more than 90 plush designs in multiple sizes to choose from, including monkeys, owls, bears, lions, dogs, cats, pigs, cows, octopuses, panda bears, kangaroos, turtles,
koalas, alligators, hedgehogs, elephants, hippos, zebras, frogs, bunnies and
raccoons. Each specially marked character comes with a unique online game
activation code on the tag.

Another adorable product is the PoochieBells®, the original dog doorbell… It is a training tool. Cici is already potty/house trained, she is six years old. And I could see where the Poochie Bells could be a very useful tool for a dog / puppy who is learning and maybe not vocal nor persistent about their needs. All you have to do is train them to touch the bells to alert you that they want to go outside. Of course, hang the bells onto the door and voila. Instant alarm system. What I like about them is they are pretty, useful, and the bells have a nice sound and there are enough of the bells so that you would definitely hear them go ring a ding ding… but in a nice way.

Each PoochieBell comes with simple, clear training instructions.

PoochieBells are for any age, size or breed.

Pet Food Revolution

love Jamie Oliver and his Food Revolution, saw an episode last night where he dressed up as a tomato and other outrageous stuff in Los Angeles. The LAUSD blocked him from going into any of the schools / kitchens, what are they hiding? UGH…

He did a demo with a cow showing people what the disgusting pink slime crap is that is fed to kids… leftover scraps from cow meat goes into a bucket, ammonia is poured over it and then it is minced or something and that is what is fed to kids, mystery slime…

and he made a comment that made me ANGRY. He said people can feed that garbage to dogs because they can eat it. NO WAY.  I wrote to him and told him there is NOT a chance I would feed that to my fur baby… She deserves better, too.

In fact, I find that attitude reprehensible. People have an idea that dogs and cats, hey they’re just a dog or just a cat, NO RESPECT, Jamie Oliver, for the animals. Our pets are four legged friends who deserve kindness, too. And better diets than the crap given to them from the grocery stores/pet stores.

In the 90’s I did some research about cat food since my cats kept throwing up. I almost threw up when I found out what was in most commercial cat food.

Ok this is graphic and disgusting so if you do not have the stomach, see ya later.

what do you think that they do with the millions of dead dog and cat carcasses from shelters across the country. Yes, indeed they send them to rendering plants. And the rendering plants turn DEAD DOGS AND CATS into dog and cat food. I kid you NOT.

Not to mention all of the other shit like feces, pus, hairs, and stuff, yummy.  From that moment on, I stopped buying commercial cat food and started feeding my cats Flint River Ranch. My knowledge and research has evolved since then to feeding Cici grain-free foods and organic foods, meat from free range cows, not factory farmed cooped up and bred to die animals who are full of antibiotics, hormones, fear and terror and sickness.

http://www.hugsandstitches.com/petfood.htm

Research done on rendering plants that sell meat to pet food companies found that the rendering plants accept everything from road kill, dead zoo animals and euthanized pets from both shelters and veterinary clinics. One such plant was found to have rendered 11 tons of dogs and cats in one week! Another plant in California reported processing an average of 200 ton of dogs and cats per month.

Foods your dog should not eat

Our animals deserve SO MUCH BETTER than to eat dead dogs and cats.

Here is a list of companies and the pet foods they manufacture. Huge food manufacturers use pet food companies as a cheap and profitable way of disposing of the waste from their human food manufacturing plants.

* Nestle: Alpo, Fancy Feast, Friskies, Mighty Dog, Purina

* Heinz: 9 lives, Amore, Gravy Train, Kibbles-n-Bits, Nature’s Recipe

* Colgate-Palmolive: Hill’s Science Diet

* Proctor & Gamble: Iams, Eukanuba

* Mars: Kal Kan, Mealtime, Sheba, Waltman’s

and Jamie Oliver deserves a swift slap upside the head for saying that dogs can eat pink slime.

Thank you.

This video is not about pet food but it is important to learn this info about Aspartame, Chicken McNuggets, GE/GMO Frankenfood (corn, cottonseed, soy) and other so-called food stuff that is ILLEGAL in other countries around the world.

According to Rachael Ray’s pet blog, the above are the dog friendliest dogs… is your dog the social butterfly of dogs, very friendly to other dogs?  is it one of the above or another breed?  Do dogs of a feather stick together?

Cici has played with more than 600 dogs of all kinds of breeds … her favs tend to be Golden retrievers, labs, German Shepherds, Boxers, Labradoodles, Australian Shepherd, Border Collies (BIG dogs) AND she has best lil pals too, mini poodles, tiny terriers, and other breeds.   She has issues with bull dogs of all types for some reason. She used to have issues with other pit bull terriers but has had a few pit bull puppy friends, too.  Depends upon the individual dogs.

plus, she has met/sniffed/chased or stalked bees, birds, bugs, bunny rabbits, cats, chickens, chipmunks, cows, deer, ducks, elk, fish, geese, goats, horses, lizards, llamas, peacocks, sheep, skunks, squirrels, wild turkeys, yaks, and zebras…

and she LOVES kids… the other day she played with a bunch of kids at the neighborhood park playground, licking them, showing off her belly, the kids were on the swings, she was a bit leery of the swings, but she ran and chased and raced with the girls and they enjoyed playing with her.  She wanted to stay and play all day.

what other farm animals or other pets does your dog play with?

Today is saturday, sheeeesh, where does the weeks go?  So fast. Maybe it’s the rain which is pouring again. And of course, Japan, do not pass by this blog without checking out what you can do for Japan (last blog post). Do not pass go, do not collect $200…

ain’t just horsing around…

You know that I love horses and so does my dog… every time we go for a walk, there is a horse down the road from us and she loves to stop by and say neigh… yesterday, we also drove by some horses and she looked up with definite interest. When I was in Solvang, I stopped off to visit the Horse Whisperer’s ranch and visited with the horses there and saw my very first up close and personal zebra.  And last summer, I took care of a horse, sheep, cows, llamas and chickens. Still, I am not a professional horse walker or horse exerciser.

According to professional horse walkers and horse exercisers, many horses stand up in their stalls for 23 hours a day. It is important to get the horses in shape before training. A fit horse is less likely to have injuries so that’s why when I found out about the EuroXciser, a treadmill for horses, I thought this will help horse walkers, horse trainers and horse exercisers save on vet bills. Seems like a safe way to get horses into shape.

Besides, EuroXciser is the only company operated and owned by a successful horse trainer. EuroXcisers are handcrafted in Los Angeles by a group of certified and experienced welders. Now if I could find a way to exercise my dog with a horse, that would be great… dog runs with horses… that would wear her out… she went out twice yesterday for long walks and one long walk today, but she wants more… she is exploring the BLM land behind this house and enjoying sniffing the bushes and grass. There are supposed to be wild horses around here but so far, we have been here for six months and we have not seen one. Although one night, I did hear a few wild horses. And every night we hear the coyotes. Get along little doggie… Yee haw…

Does your Dog have what it takes to become a mooovie star? you’re the one that I want…hoo hoo hoo

another Pup-Lick Relations tip from Cici the wonder dog…

Maybe you have a doggie business, are a dog owner with a business, or just love animals and have a business. Whatever your situation, you might consider branding your business with an animal mascot, animal media spokesperson or by training your animal to become a media star, to do commercials, movies, or TV shows.  Shades of Lassie, Rin Tin Tin, Petey, Benjie, the dog on Frasier, Paul Anka on The Gilmore Girls, the cat on Charmed, Mr. Ed (the horse that spoke to Wilbur), Air Bud, and many others.

There is a good reason why Geico has a Gecko in their TV commercials as media spokesperson. How about Tony the Tiger, Morris the cat, Ford Mustang, Taco Bell’s Chihuahua or Smokey the Bear. During the recent Superbowl, the average price for a 30-second spot was $2.5 million. In these ads, many companies had memorable cute, fun, cuddly, furry animals convey their message.

Animals, dogs, cats and others can enhance the message that you use to tell the world who you are and what you represent. Why? One reason is that Americans love animals.

Now is the time to train your dog to become a celebrity, bring home the bacon, work for their keep and supply you with an abundance of bling bling bling…

Charity Rents Animals Out for CommercialsBy PHILIP H. DOUGHERTY
Published: December 19, 1984

Because charitable organizations are always in need of funds and since commercials frequently need animals in their casts, Green Chimneys, a treatment center for troubled children that is also a working farm, has gone into the rent-a-pig business. And that is only the beginning, since there are also horses, cows, sheep, goats, donkeys, chickens, ducks, geese and rabbits.

Robert Schechter, who is on the board, promises that the prices will be reasonable and that handlers will be provided. One of his fellow board members is Gordon Bushell, recently named chairman and chief executive of the William Esty Company. So with that much recognizable talent on hand, no wonder the new program has been named ”Farm on the Moo- ve.”

Now, this dog has all the right moooves…

dog meets sheep, a goat, a cat, llamas, some cows, a skunk and chickens…

This summer, we were living on a farm in Genoa, Nevada. It’s a very small town and affluent. Very peaceful and quiet.  Part of the living arrangements, was to feed the animals on the weekends or whenever the owners went away. It was fun for me to lift that bale of hay and for my dog, she was often frustrated because I didn’t let her run about and play with the other animals. I did let her sniff the horse’s hooves as well as let her near the fence to commune with the cows and sheep. The horse looked like big whup, he liked the apples I gave him so he put up with the sniffing dog.

One time, I came outside the pool house and lo and behold, the horse was outside the fence. He saw me and ran back inside immediately. Funny horse. But he knew he was not supposed to be there. The sheep were not that aware of the rules. Or the sheep are not too bright. They decided to wander all around the property at a ieisurely pace. At one point, my dog and the sheep met up close and personal. She was thrilled. They seemed unaffected. The llamas almost bashed / kicked her head in. The chickens ran inside the hen house, and the skunk ducked under the house. The cows couldn’t have cared less, all they wanted was their hay, moooooooo.

Later, we were in Susanville, CA for a couple of days around the 4th of July. One morning, we went out for a walk and coming back, my dog spotted a goat. She decided to go play. I did not let her get near to the goat. The goat was tied up and looked like it could eat her for breakfast without a blink. She was very disappointed but survived the incident without a scar. Unlike the dog in the video below… it’s in German, but you get the drift…Moral of the story is some animals do not cohabitat well together.

Oh yes, I was hoping that I could get her a cat for a playmate. But when she found a stray cat hidden beneath the shelves at PetSmart, and she totally freaked out, that hope died and I fell on the floor, literally, holding onto my dog for dear life. The cat escaped and we lived to tell the tale.  Wonder what would happen if she met a bunny rabbit?  Oh that’s right, she did just the other day and she wanted to chase it. She loves to chase birds. Where we are living now, there are HUGE rabbits and quail…  When we go outside, I hold on tight for dear life. Tchuus or however you spell it… ok, the German video did not embed, so here’s a link to saving farm animals, some organizations are adopting farm animals, good and worthy cause and it’s in English…

Restitution: And the People Said Amen…

My wish tonight is for everything
to become upside right
again

instead of inside out
and tumbled like weeds

that is where
i draw my personal line
in the sand

and hope and pray
and wish upon a star
that everything will right
itself again

Dogs are not cats

and cats are not birds

and never will fish be

leopards and porpoises

are not horses and cows

are not sheep and monkeys are not

caterpillars and squirrels are not camels

and chickens

are never gonna be

alligators

no matter how many of us wish and pray

for them to be so

the world should not have
gone awry
our meters on empty
our fortunes unkempt

Destiny awaits us
dare we rush away
from its call
hurtling ourselves deeper
into darkness and spaces
that were never meant to be
so painful

we should not have bent
and crawled and run and tangled
ourselves up into big blue balls
twisted with grief and sadness

do we have to wait for
the end to come
in order to be free?

for the world to be so
fragile and scattered
and shattered

for truth to be so obscured
and muted
for losses so permeated
and permeable

for people to shout to the heavens
save us
and the heavens
cry out with answers
but their cries fall on
ears that have not heard
a word in years

why is a child crying
when his mother
should be bawling
her very heart out

how can our leaders
fall so far short
of greatness
and dare to pluck their power
off of our trees
and stick their noses
so far out at us
like children and Pinocchio
saying nah nah nah nah

nanny nanny boo boo
the preschoolers wail
but is this proper behavior
for grown-ups
never mind our fearless leaders

where is that light in this dark tunnel
how do we find our way
when we are grasping for air
like miners looking for canaries
in caves that never should have been
tampered with

there isn’t a breath in sight
but there is California burning at night
with fetid air
and Arnold spraying poisons into our
atmosphere
in order to make money
for people who don’t deserve it
and to make things worse for the rest of us

how can we the people breathe
when there are so many untold truths
unburied bodies
and bold lies
that stick at our craw
and won’t go away

is it not better for us to
hurl ourselves into the wind
then to knock our heads
against the stoneheads of
the powers that be

we must hold onto each other’s hands
and never let go
for in our unity
there must be peace

We will find Peace
even if they don’t get it
and never will.

There’s a chance Peace will come

in our lives… John Lennon

All we are saying is Give Peace a Chance…
