with $ 5 Savings on Doggy GOO.

When you Think American, you think Mom, Apple Pie, Hot Dogs, Baseball, Football, NASCAR and of course PB & J ! Found in 75% of American homes, Peanut Butter is as American as it gets. What child or adult, in the gut wrenching ravages of hunger has not grabbed a jar of their favorite peanut butter, their sweet tooth craving jelly, jam or preserve, maybe a little butter and a loaf of bread and hunkered down to make their favorite tasty snack on the planet… PB & J !

To call Peanut Butter a Food is a vast injustice to this humble appetite quenching, protein filled powerhouse. For many, Peanut Butter transcends the definition of a Food. It moves beyond a Snack, to a state of nirvana. Satisfying a craving, what does it better than peanut butter?

In 1890, a St. Louis physician suggested processing and packaging ground peanut paste into a nutritious protein substitute.  Now, Top Chefs all over the world have embraced this GOOey substance for its taste, versatility and creative possibilities in some of today’s most innovative dishes!

In symbiosis with this Peanut Butter Renaissance, Healthy GOO, an innovative Pet HealthCare Company has embraced 100% Natural Peanut Butter as “The” critical patient compliance ingredient in its Canine Allergy Product, which is Cute & Playfully called Doggy GOO.  DOGs just go Craaaazzy for Peanut Butter.

Healthy GOO’s Medical Director and Veterinary Dermatologist Dr Kristin Holm explains why there is a Canine Allergy Fighting Method to its Peanut Butter / Doggy GOO Madness. “We chose 100% Natural Peanut Butter for a number of critical reasons. To begin, DOGs just Luv Peanut Butter, which ensures high “Patient / Dog Compliance” for Doggy GOO’s allergy focus. And because Doggy GOO is regarded as a Tasty Treat by your Dog, Pet Parent compliance is also virtually guaranteed to keep both the Pet and Pet Parent’s GOO Allergy Fight going!”

Dr. Kristin further explains, “But there is more to GOO than meets the Dog’s Taste Buds. You see, Peanut Butter was not only chosen for its Tasty Treat appeal, but for its Lick / Lick / Lick GOOey-ness. You see, Doggy GOO employs what is called a Sublingual Delivery methodology in its fight against Canine Allergies. Pet Parents spread a small amount of Doggy GOO onto a clean bowl or plate, so that the Dog has to repeatedly Lick / Lick / Lick up their GOO.

But while this is a GOO-Licious Tasty Treat for the Dog, with every GOO Lick, small amounts of Enviro Allergy ingredients are brought into the Dogs mouth, and the mouth is slathered with GOO Juice. It is via this GOO Juice presence to the thin mucosal skin of the Dog’s mouth that the Allergy ingredients are Sublingually absorbed into the bloodstream. It is via this GOO Juice presence, followed by absorption, that the Bio-Availability to the BloodStream begins to leverage the adaptive power of the immune system to build tolerance to these offending allergy sources and begins to work its Allergy Magic.

Given Peanut Butter’s critical patient / dog compliance role in Doggy GOO’s Allergy Fight and in Celebration of November Peanut Butter Lovers Month, Healthy GOO offers its Spread the GOO Promotion with a $ 5 Savings ( Promotion Code PB&GOO5 ) toward each Doggy GOO Purchase thru December 5 2011. Please visit www.DoggyGOO.com and enter your GOO Promo Code.

Dr Kristin shares ” A Dog’s Healthy Immune System can Fight Off much of what Life Throws at it Everyday. But when it comes to a Mis-Wired Allergy Immune System, Mother Nature can’t do it on her own, she needs a little extra Doggy GOO Re-Calibration Help. Doggy GOO celebrates Peanut Butter for making Fighting Canine Allergies FUN for Pet and Pet Parent.”.

magical mystery mutt tour

sgt peppers lonely hearts club band, it’s wonderful to be here, you’re such a lovely audience, we’d love to take you home…

Cici is a mixed breed. I was told that she was Dalmatian and ?  Since then, so many people told me that she looked like a pit bull that I did research and came around to the idea that she must be part American Pit Bull Terrier too.

But the whole pit bull designation is kinda mystery mutt because a bunch of breeds are called pit bull.

BadRap had a whole post about it if I can find it.

Generally pit bull like dogs are American Staffordshire Terrier and American Pit Bull Terrier but there’s a whole bunch of others thrown into the mystery mutt mix.

http://badrap-blog.blogspot.com/2010/12/ins-and-outs-of-language-for-2011.html

Here’s the bottomline… can you find the pit bull here?

http://www.pitbullsontheweb.com/petbull/findpit.html

Thank you, Will My Dog Hate Me?, Peggy’s Pet Place and I Still Want More Puppies for putting this blog hop together!

The rules for the Magical Mystery Mutt Tour are as follows:

  • Write a post about your dog
  • Include at least two photos
  • Include height/weight
  • Include personality traits

Supposed to have at least two photos of my dog here as well as her traits as part of the tour, hmmm… I don’t know Cici’s height but her weight is about 52 pounds.

well, she is stubborn, silly and sassy.  She LOVES people and children, loves to play, wags her tail and licks her tongue incessantly and showing off her belly is her floor show.  Goofy as all get out.  A very snuggly cuddler. She is always up for a party (with pizza). An adorable polka dot princess of the mixed breed kind.  Ya think?

Pet Blogger Challenge

Edie from Will My Dog Hate me told me about this Pet Blogger Challenge with Amy, so I decided to jump on in. Why not? I have been following various pet bloggers on Twitter who all seem to know one another. And I think since I have been kind of a loner pet blogger, looking from the outside in what the crowd is doing and decided to join in. So these are the questions I am to answer and this is only my third pet blog hop, and don’t have all the techie details down. With code, it either comes out right or it doesn’t. And I don’t know whether it will or not come out right nor how to fix it if it doesn’t.  In other words, either I get a blobby bunch of weird symbols or I get what I am supposed to have on the page. Please bear with me as I learn.

1. When did you begin your blog?

In October 2007. My dog Cici was recovering from three surgeries on her leg after being hit by a car. She was required to be confined for several months and I was living in Gardnerville, Nevada, staying home taking care of my dog. People kept telling me, you’re a writer, you should have a blog. I had no idea what a blog was at the time. But I’m adventurous so I jumped right on into the blog pool.

2. What was your original purpose for starting a blog?

it was a lark, did not know what a blog was at the time, people kept telling me to write one, so i did. Was not sure what to write about but since I was taking care of Cici and she was not well I started writing about her. And I also wrote about our previous travels, since I am also a travel writer and co-author of five romantic travel guides. Thought it would be fun to write about traveling when we were confined. Dreaming of greener pastures and beaches.

3. Is your current purpose the same?

No, am not confined any longer, and after starting the blog, we did travel for almost two years.

If not, what’s different?

now I blog for fun. It is a good writing practice to write every day and enjoyable to write about my dog, dog travel and other topics near and dear to my heart. Writers write.

If so, how do you feel you’ve met your goals?

what goals?

4. Do you blog on a schedule or as the spirit moves you?

If the former, how often — and what techniques do you use to stick to it?

i write every day usually except while traveling, sometimes 2-3 times a day depending upon what’s going on. Writers write so I don’t need techniques to stick to it. I am pretty passionate about my dog and constantly find things to talk about. Health, food, travel, as well as controversial issues. Since she is Dalmatian/pit bull mix, that is a whole other arena to express my opinion about and try to raise awareness and educate people about the breed. Before I rescued Cici I knew nothing about pit bulls. I just knew that this sweet, loving dog was in a very bad situation and I had to do something so that she would not get hurt. So I rescued her and all I knew at the time was that she was part Dalmatian. Then people started telling me that she looked like a pit bull. Like everything else in my life, I learned step by step by reading and research including talking to other people.

If the latter, do you worry about… well, whatever you might worry about (e.g. losing traffic, losing momentum)?

No, i consistently from the beginning have obtained an ok amount of traffic over 3 years, usually 200 visitors or more a day. At first, I did some publicity, got published in newspapers and that led to a lot of traffic. One time there was more than 800 in one day. I just go with the flow and don’t worry about traffic. I have tried other people’s ideas and sometimes they work and sometimes not. I know how to promote and obtain publicity and usually am MUCH better doing that for others than I am for myself. You know, doctor heal thyself.

5. Are you generating income from your blog?

Not really. I have to switch over to the other word press to do ads to generate income… maybe, we shall see… don’t like ads cluttering up the place, i do product reviews, closest thing to monetizing and i accept donations for pet food, etc. I am currently talking with someone else about the possibility of a joint venture to generate income. That would be great. I have also considered doing an online magazine. I love writing and being an editor, too. I would need a terrific graphic designer and ad salespeople to get that up and running. I also would like to do a cross country trip with Cici in the spring/summer. If I am up to it healthwise. I have fibromyalgia and arthrits and am in a lot of pain, am not on disability. All of the government programs I’ve ever applied for tell you to apply and then tell you the reason you are applying is why they are denying you benefits. Grrrrr… I’ve got all sorts of ideas for other blogs, and started them but have not been consistent at all with any of them except this one.

6. What do you like most about blogging in general and your blog in particular (bragging is good!)?

No one tells me what to write, how to write, when to write, etc. am my own boss, except when cici my polka dot princess tells me what to do/say… I enjoy the opportunity to express myself creatively, in words, graphics, etc. and reach an audience directly without having to go through the whole publishing process (writing query letters, getting accepted by an editor/publication, waiting for pub. date, etc).   Have gotten a lot of good feedback from readers how they find my blog useful, funny, heartwarming, valuable, so that’s really nice. As a journalist/reporter and travel writer, you don’t often get that feedback unless you did something wrong.

7. What do you like least?

Lately, spammers commenting on my blog, wasting my time, having to delete them. I got my first two hate comments, too due to the Lost Dogs project yesterday. Ignorant people spewing garbage. What was most terrible, I thought, was this is what they choose to do/say  after the terrible thing that happened in Tucson. I don’t understand people who say that pit bulls are just dogs, or that pit bulls are vicious so it’s ok to kill and torture them. Dogs are dogs and pit bulls are just dogs. Cici gets a lot of positive attention usually so this type of dog discrimination and banning of a breed is baffling to me.  Pit bulls were trained to be nanny dogs. They love kids and people so much. It is sad because these dogs are singled out and put into such bad situations and end up damaged (dog fighting) and/or euthanized in shelters. It’s a people problem, not a dog problem.

8. How do you see your blog changing or growing in 2011?

Am thinking of taking a cross country road trip this spring/summer with cici, to broaden the travel aspect, but we shall see… right now, my health would not allow it, and would have to obtain sponsors to do it.  love to be able to educate/raise awareness about pit bulls to eradicate prejudice against dogs in general and pit bulls in particular.   Cici wants more treats, as always and she loves the open road.  She is always up for new adventures, new dogs to meet and greet and especially new people to lick their feet and to show off her belly.  There are places I’d love to visit back east, where I am from (New York) and in the northwest and south. I’d love to do a million dog march, hah. Cici has played with more than 600 dogs of all different sizes and breeds so she’d like to get that number up to 1,000 or more.

Now here am supposed to have code but where do I get it from???  Did not see that… oh help…  I copied this from Doggie Stylish, maybe it will work???

Pit bull mix attacked by Beagle

I live for the day this type of story is commonplace and makes the news.  It makes me ill to constantly see “news” stories that report that pit bulls mauled somebody or their dog. This story below is actually based upon an experience Cici and I had just yesterday. And Cici has been attacked at least five or six times. After she was thrown down on her back, throat attacked, blood drawn, Cici still wanted to play with the dog that attacked her. After her head was bitten by another vicious dog, she still has scars, she did not thankfully want to play with that dog.  Sometimes I think she is too forgiving. Don’t know if the dog yesterday was actually a Beagle because it was sort of old and brown and mangy looking. But suffice it to say that these types of stories never get reported, ever. Not now. But maybe someday they will.

Woman saves her pit bull mix from beagle attack

The Astute Press
SEASIDE, Ca. — A Seaside woman was walking her pit bull mix dog down San Pablo Street going to the store on Noche Buena when an 8 year old mangy-looking Beagle attacked her dog through an old dilapidated wooden fence. The owner of the Beagle apologized for his “overprotective” dog.  “He’s just an old guard dog doing his duty,” said the neighbor.

The Seaside Sheriff’s Office reports that 61-year-old Sue Grace was wary of walking on that side of the street because the Beagle had viciously tried to attack her dog once before. But the owner of the Beagle insisted that his dog was safe. She proceeded to the other side of the street after the man closed the fence door leaving the Beagle behind it. But as she and her pit bull mix proceeded down the street and passed the fence, the Beagle went crazy Wednesday afternoon.

Grace quickly pulled her dog away and went on her way. Her pit bull mix had been wagging its tail and wanting to play with the Beagle. But the Beagle growled viciously and tried to bite the pit bull through the fence.  Her dog, Cici, whines every time she goes by the street.  She still wants to play with the mean old Beagle.

In the past three years, 4 year old Cici has been attacked by a nasty Shiz Tzu, Cairn Terrier, mutt of unknown origin who got her by her throat drawing blood at a dog park, two Labrador retrievers, an unsocialized Jack Russell, Cocker Spaniel, and a Border Collie. She has played nicely with more than 600 dogs of many different sizes and breeds including poodles, Yorkies, German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Doberman Pinschers, Dalmatians (she is part Dalmatian), Boxers, Great Dane, hound dog, Golden Retrievers (her favorite), Labradoodles, an Australian Shepherd she loved the most and many others.

Animal control does nothing about dogs unless they are pit bulls or pit bull mixes. The pit bulls and pit bull mixes are blamed for the wrongdoing of other dog breeds such as malevolent Beagles even though American Pit Bull Terrier and American Staffordshire Terrier’s temperament testing studies have concluded that Beagles, Lassie (collies) and Toto dogs (cairn terriers) tested with scores below that of the Pit Bull breeds and mixes.

http://www.atts.org/stats2.html

The American Temperament Testing Society (ATTS) conducts annual evaluations for all dog breeds, and pit bull mixes consistently rate higher than some of their more popular counterparts, including the Golden Retriever and Collie. Bully breeds also excel at the American Kennel Club’s (AKC) Canine Good Citizen (CGC) training, which is a program that teaches good dog manners and responsible pet ownership.

According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), many dogs involved in attacks are incorrectly identified as bullies in media reports, which fuels the belief these breeds are always to blame. But the Center for Disease Control reports that the chow chow, German shepherd, Rottweiler and even the Yorkshire terrier have all been responsible for fatal attacks throughout the years, so it’s not a breed-specific problem.

Six US presidents have had bullies.
The executive pooch to Theodore Roosevelt was a bull terrier named Pete, but Pete wasn’t the only bully to garner good favor with a commander in chief. Calvin Coolidge, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Warren Harding, Woodrow Wilson and Jimmy Carter have all called a bully breed their First Dog.

Nanny dogs
Bully breeds such as the Staffordshire bull terrier have a long history of being good with children and are often called “Nanny Dogs” in England thanks to their sweet and nurturing demeanor around kids. Bullies that are well-socialized and properly cared for are generally wonderful pets for children, as they are able to handle any rough-housing and are drawn to kids’ carefree dispositions.

can pit bulls even be heroes? yes, say many people who know and love them.

And the lesson learned from the supposedly most vicious dogs from Michael Vick’s Bad Newz Kennels have taught many is that even fighting dogs can become good canine citizens, therapy dogs and service dogs.

cici’s new boyfriend…

Oneill is a rat terrier, five months old… cutey pie… his mom works at the Verizon Wireless store. Cici and O have been playing together the last few days … then she gets treats from SPCA ladies and others… she has a very tough dog’s life…

today someone gave me a lecture on her being an American Staffordshire, who knows… pit bull terriers he said have larger heads than Staffies, and she is just too beautiful/gorgeous so she must be a Staffie, ok, I think that she looks more like an American Pit Bull Terrier than an American Staffy… all that is confirmed is the Dalmatian part, see polka dots run…

what do you think ?

all white dogs all the time…

Congress has passed a new law requiring all dogs to be painted white. The purpose of this is to increase road safety by allowing dogs to be seen more easily at night…

so get out your paint and paint brushes…

Cici and I, we thinks all dogs should be painted white with pink polka dots … that way all dogs will be white and pink polka dot dogs like cici…

and CIci and I are getting a cat companion…

on second thought, APRIL FOOL’S DAY !!!

cici is unique and does not want other dogs looking the same as her, she prefers being a rare pink polka dotted princess…

Waking up on the woof side…

Loyal and faithful customers say bow wow to personable, friendly service

The LaQuinta Orange County chain hotel is very conveniently located near to the John Wayne airport (5-10 minutes), they offer an airport shuttle service and you can leave your car in their parking lot and it will be here when you return. The inn is business class AND they also offer pet friendly lodging. Need to bring your bird, cat, rabbit, ferret, or dog on a business trip? No problemo !

we stayed on the top floor (third), above the heated pool and jacuzzi in a king suite, with fridge, microwave, king size bed, couch, desk, nicely furnished, with wireless, free local phone calls and TV… The rooms (183, all of which are pet friendly) and lobby are very clean and comfy. We received a nice box of chocolates, good for me, not for cici… no dog treats but four times a year, when there are dog shows in town, the pets receive pet goodie bags and the inn is sold out.

During the week, most of the guests are business people traveling to and from southern California but on the weekend, visitors are more family oriented. The Magic Kingdom (Disneyland) is only 15 minutes away and the inn is four miles from shopping malls, (The District with shops such as Pet Smart), post office, banks, fast food and several restaurants. The Inn also has four meeting rooms for business conferences and workshops.

In the area, there are numerous pet shops, pet sitters, doggie daycare and groomers as well as dog trainers.

LaQuinta also provides a delicious hot and cold breakfast with hard boiled eggs, fresh hot waffles, muffins, cereals, juice, donuts, yogurt, and hot coffee from 6 – 9 am.

this hotel is budget conscious and a great value for the pricey area near Newport Beach. Other hotels in the area do not offer pet friendly lodging. A couple of lower priced motels do but the service and amenities are nowhere near the quality that LaQuinta offers. In this economy, why not receive the best barks for the bucks. Cici says four paws up !

woman bites dog…

In Journalism 101, they teach you that dog bites man is not a news story but man bites dog is… well, this woman bites her dog every day and has proven the point and made the news… is she weird and proud of it? seems to be that she does not mind the limelight…
