Give a bow wow of a paw print lavendar scarf… for the dog mama …  Think Green

this scarf is made in the USA, made of eco friendly fabric and printed with water-based ink… it is soft, shiny, and this company also makes tee-shirts for a cause (endangered species, eat your veggies and other great topics)… tees are made either 100% from organic cotton,  a blend of recycled plastic bottles (RPET)  and organic cotton, or other eco-friendly materials. To make the RPET, recycled plastic bottles are melted down and then processed into a fine yarn which, in turn, becomes a soft and silky t-shirt. They are made with No pesticides, less plastic in landfills.   It takes between 3 to 5 plastic bottles to make each RPET/organic cotton blend tee.  After the bottles are melted, the plastic fiber is blended with organic cotton to give these tees their soft, silky feel. These tees can be washed and dried over and over and they won’t shrink, fade or lose their shape.

spring break 2011

Note: We have NOT stayed at any of these hotels or inns so we cannot vouch for them and they are not rated for dogitude. We have been to Sedona and Pyramid Lake, and feel they are worth exploring as possible fun Spring Break getaways with your pets.

Sedona, Arizona
Owners Steve and Connie Segner built a luxury boutique hotel with the idea of catering to discerning guests and their pets. Segner has had a longtime involvement in the pet care industry, as owner of a pet food company and developing one of the first premium dog foods in the industry. To the Segners, there was no question that an upscale, luxury inn could provide style, amenities and personalized concierge services for guests and their pets.

El Portal is Sedona’s original pet friendly bed and breakfast with four enclosed pet patios.

Pyramid Lake, Nevada

Located about an hour from Reno. It is a great place to camp out with your dog, if the weather is good.  Unlike Lake Louise, Lake Tahoe and other famous lakes, Pyramid Lake is a completely natural environment. The Paiute people take a lot of pride (and care) in the lake, and they are reluctant to turn it into the next Lake Tahoe.  The Lake is 125,000 acres, lots of beach to explore. There are no homes or businesses crowding around the lake. The land around the lake is home to several caves with ancient petroglyphs, and artifacts.

Be sure to visit The Stone Mother. There have been reports of people hearing the cries of an invisible baby when they’re at the Lake. Some have even heard the laughs of children.  The legend: after traveling to Pyramid Lake to meet the man ruler of the lake, the Stone Mother was in awe. The man ruler was so handsome! They were married and had many children. Many of their children were unruly and the man ruler became angry. He decided to separate his children. The man ruler sent his oldest son west with one of the girls. They became the Pitt River Indians. He sent another couple east and they became the Bannocks. The remainder of the children stayed home. The woman was so upset over the separation that she wept.

Aside from the mysterious pyramid and Stone Mother, there is also a small island in the lake (close to the Pyramid). This island doesn’t look like anything special, that is until March/April each year when thousands of pelicans fly in. The pelicans hang out for a couple of months on the island so check them out.
You can purchase a pass for Pyramid Lake from most businesses in Reno or Sparks. Or, you can purchase your pass online. Day use passes cost just $6 per vehicle. There are also options for camping and fishing. It is dog friendly, dogs must be on leash, and you and Fido can camp out.

For more info, visit http://www.pyramidlake.us/

By the way, in Reno, there is a very peaceful haven of a lake Virginia Lake Park, where I took Cici a few times. She liked to chase the ducks. Dogs are supposed to be on leash. It is a peaceful place for a picnic or a walk with your dog in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the city.

Asheville & Wilmington, North Carolina

If you must go to the beaches, go to Wilmington.

Asheville, near the mountains, seems a lot pet friendlier though. Both may have crowds of spring break partiers.

dog days of summer …

it was hot hot hot today, even hot at the beach… we stayed indoors mostly, then went to a place where there are ducks and cici just jumped into the water and had a blast… there was a puppy tied up she wanted to play with and the dog was more than willing but it was too hard with the puppy being tied up for them to play, but the owner was afraid the pup would run away…

cici got lots of attention at the mall, ate about 4 dog cookies, plus ate hot dogs from the doggie buffet (ground) and gave away many slobbery kisses and did her usual floor show and lickby’s…

anyway, summer is officially now here… finally… here’s a dog who is cooling off…

Does your Dog have what it takes to become a mooovie star? you’re the one that I want…hoo hoo hoo

another Pup-Lick Relations tip from Cici the wonder dog…

Maybe you have a doggie business, are a dog owner with a business, or just love animals and have a business. Whatever your situation, you might consider branding your business with an animal mascot, animal media spokesperson or by training your animal to become a media star, to do commercials, movies, or TV shows.  Shades of Lassie, Rin Tin Tin, Petey, Benjie, the dog on Frasier, Paul Anka on The Gilmore Girls, the cat on Charmed, Mr. Ed (the horse that spoke to Wilbur), Air Bud, and many others.

There is a good reason why Geico has a Gecko in their TV commercials as media spokesperson. How about Tony the Tiger, Morris the cat, Ford Mustang, Taco Bell’s Chihuahua or Smokey the Bear. During the recent Superbowl, the average price for a 30-second spot was $2.5 million. In these ads, many companies had memorable cute, fun, cuddly, furry animals convey their message.

Animals, dogs, cats and others can enhance the message that you use to tell the world who you are and what you represent. Why? One reason is that Americans love animals.

Now is the time to train your dog to become a celebrity, bring home the bacon, work for their keep and supply you with an abundance of bling bling bling…

Charity Rents Animals Out for CommercialsBy PHILIP H. DOUGHERTY
Published: December 19, 1984

Because charitable organizations are always in need of funds and since commercials frequently need animals in their casts, Green Chimneys, a treatment center for troubled children that is also a working farm, has gone into the rent-a-pig business. And that is only the beginning, since there are also horses, cows, sheep, goats, donkeys, chickens, ducks, geese and rabbits.

Robert Schechter, who is on the board, promises that the prices will be reasonable and that handlers will be provided. One of his fellow board members is Gordon Bushell, recently named chairman and chief executive of the William Esty Company. So with that much recognizable talent on hand, no wonder the new program has been named ”Farm on the Moo- ve.”

Now, this dog has all the right moooves…
