Pet Food Revolution

love Jamie Oliver and his Food Revolution, saw an episode last night where he dressed up as a tomato and other outrageous stuff in Los Angeles. The LAUSD blocked him from going into any of the schools / kitchens, what are they hiding? UGH…

He did a demo with a cow showing people what the disgusting pink slime crap is that is fed to kids… leftover scraps from cow meat goes into a bucket, ammonia is poured over it and then it is minced or something and that is what is fed to kids, mystery slime…

and he made a comment that made me ANGRY. He said people can feed that garbage to dogs because they can eat it. NO WAY.  I wrote to him and told him there is NOT a chance I would feed that to my fur baby… She deserves better, too.

In fact, I find that attitude reprehensible. People have an idea that dogs and cats, hey they’re just a dog or just a cat, NO RESPECT, Jamie Oliver, for the animals. Our pets are four legged friends who deserve kindness, too. And better diets than the crap given to them from the grocery stores/pet stores.

In the 90’s I did some research about cat food since my cats kept throwing up. I almost threw up when I found out what was in most commercial cat food.

Ok this is graphic and disgusting so if you do not have the stomach, see ya later.

what do you think that they do with the millions of dead dog and cat carcasses from shelters across the country. Yes, indeed they send them to rendering plants. And the rendering plants turn DEAD DOGS AND CATS into dog and cat food. I kid you NOT.

Not to mention all of the other shit like feces, pus, hairs, and stuff, yummy.  From that moment on, I stopped buying commercial cat food and started feeding my cats Flint River Ranch. My knowledge and research has evolved since then to feeding Cici grain-free foods and organic foods, meat from free range cows, not factory farmed cooped up and bred to die animals who are full of antibiotics, hormones, fear and terror and sickness.

http://www.hugsandstitches.com/petfood.htm

Research done on rendering plants that sell meat to pet food companies found that the rendering plants accept everything from road kill, dead zoo animals and euthanized pets from both shelters and veterinary clinics. One such plant was found to have rendered 11 tons of dogs and cats in one week! Another plant in California reported processing an average of 200 ton of dogs and cats per month.

Foods your dog should not eat

Our animals deserve SO MUCH BETTER than to eat dead dogs and cats.

Here is a list of companies and the pet foods they manufacture. Huge food manufacturers use pet food companies as a cheap and profitable way of disposing of the waste from their human food manufacturing plants.

* Nestle: Alpo, Fancy Feast, Friskies, Mighty Dog, Purina

* Heinz: 9 lives, Amore, Gravy Train, Kibbles-n-Bits, Nature’s Recipe

* Colgate-Palmolive: Hill’s Science Diet

* Proctor & Gamble: Iams, Eukanuba

* Mars: Kal Kan, Mealtime, Sheba, Waltman’s

and Jamie Oliver deserves a swift slap upside the head for saying that dogs can eat pink slime.

Thank you.

This video is not about pet food but it is important to learn this info about Aspartame, Chicken McNuggets, GE/GMO Frankenfood (corn, cottonseed, soy) and other so-called food stuff that is ILLEGAL in other countries around the world.

If the video makes you mad/ill, then STOP BUYING FAST FOOD, COMMERCIAL BRANDS AT GROCERY STORE CHAINS, TAKE YOUR POWER BACK and join the COFFEE PARTY MOVEMENT… Just found out about this on Facebook.

A river in Carmel?

carmel river inn The Carmel River Inn was built in 1934. In 2003 the property was purchased by Moonstone Hotels Properties and plans for renovations and additional cottages are in the making.

95% of the cottages are pet friendly… and have white picket fences, too…

cottage-with-fence

The Cottages

Nestled throughout the 10-acre grounds of the Carmel River Inn, are cottages. Several feature a white-picket fence, others a wood-burning fireplace, and some have a kitchenette. Each of these eclectic cottages is named for a well-known character in California’s colorful history. Among these famous names, you will find such California historical icons as conservationist and photographer Ansel Adams, and controversial author Henry Miller.

we stayed in the newly renovated steinbeck cottage… with its own patio, whirlpool tub, fireplace, coffee maker, came with pet amenities, dog bowl with treats, waste bags and a ball, which cici loved… they also gave me a welcome bottle of wine… no breakfast… nice touches, fresh flowers, cute signs, sign above the bed said smell the roses…

like the other Moonstone property we stayed in Cambria (Cambria Pines Lodge), there were gardens and fountains everywhere… very quiet, peaceful atmosphere…

the location is off of hwy 1 just past Carmel valley road, beyond Rio road, and just down the street from the Barnyard and Crossroads shopping centers, where there is a very pet friendly winery tasting room (A Taste of Morgan), several pet shops, a pet groomer, holistic vet with doggie daycare, SPCA thrift store and other shops…

The Visitor Center for A Taste of Morgan is open from 11-6, EVERYDAY at the Carmel Crossroads Shopping Village, at Rio Road and US 1.
204 Crossroads Blvd, Carmel, CA 93923
Tel: (831) 626-3700

Cici and I dared to go back to Carmel beach one afternoon/evening… She played with two labs chasing balls and pups for about 1-1/2 hours, great fun for her…

doggie etiquette tips at restaurants

leash your 4 legged friend and tie them to a chair not a table.. try to keep them out of walkways… bring your own water bowl, pets are not allowed to drink out of restaurant glasses or dishes, avoid allowing your pet to socialize with other patrons unless welcomed…

Carmel Cafe Dining

I was invited to a meal sans Cici at the Cafe Demetra in Carmel, off Ocean Avenue and Lincoln… Owners/partners Faisel and Bashard have known each other for a long time. They are from Jordan and Syria. I met Faisel at Whole Foods in the Del Monte Shopping Center and he invited me to come on down. The cafe has only been open for nine months and is packed almost every night, so go early. It is a very small place but don’t let that stop you, the atmosphere is warm, homey, friendly and the food is FABULOUS !!!

Mediterranean food, Italian and Greek… I had the huge Greek salad for an appetizer, it was a meal in itself with creamy feta cheese and olives, authentic and divine. Then I ordered the Pasta Demetra with chicken, think Greek pasta… luscious… bread came with the meal with olive oil and I had no room left for dessert. I was tempted to try the Lamb, spanokapita, and other Greek specialty foods (sandwiches), kabobs, and the Italian specialties, various kinds of raviolis, lasagne, pastas and pizza, all in all, there is a lot of delicious sounding food to choose from and I would definitely go back there for another taste sensation. If you go, be sure to let them know that CeliaSue sent you !

A Dog’s Life…

My blog got some more news coverage in the Salem News. Thanks, Tim…

http://www.salem-news.com/articles/october292007/chocolate_writer_102908.php

My dog has it really tough… she cannot find her kong toy. she just went outside and ate her lunch. But now she is miss growly bear because she has misplaced her toy. She also ate up another chew toy this morning. Increasingly, she is becoming bored with being restricted and barking at me while I am working. I called the vet to no avail. Just keep on keeping on.

I wish I had her problems. Yesterday, the phone and internet did not work for a few hours, leaving me without my tools for work. Not to mention that my car is a half hour away, and I cannot get to the store which is five miles away. Her food is being delivered to the house tomorrow, but can I find someone to deliver mine? No. Sure, I can call for pizza but what about eggs, chicken, and other necessities of life, like chocolate?

She does not have to concern herself with all the little minor things I am dealing with such as paying the vet bill, rent, food, supplements and other bills. Her biggest worry is when am I going to be able to go out and run and play again.

Sigh, sometimes, I wish I were a dog.
