how long have you been a dog owner? have you always had dogs? a little background please…
My earliest memory of a dog is curling up with the family dacshund, Tina, in front of the hot air vent as a little boy. Dogs have been a part of my family since before I was born.
can you give us a little background about how you began poochEcards for dogs, why, inspiration, etc.
I have been designing greeting cards for about 30 years now and have developed an online card site called Spot Greetings. Despite the name, it’s not a site for dog lovers, but PoochEcards certainly is. The name of the game in online publishing is traffic. It seemed to me that people love their dogs and would enjoy sending cards with their dogs on the cover. PoochEcards is only online, so no dog bathrooms were destroyed making these cards.
also background about your dogs Luna and Sparky.
Sparky came into our lives as a puppy after our rescue dachshund, Woody, passed away at the ripe old age of 17.

Luna came into our lives this past summer as a rescue dog as well.
It’s hard for me to understand why either of these dogs ended up needing adoption but we’ve been blessed.
you are now going to make other lines for different animals? cattiecards? horsiecards? rabbitcards? birdiecards? when will you be rolling these out?
That’s certainly possible, we’ll see what the demand is.
any tips for pet owners to use when sending poochecards for their dogs? taking photos of dogs?
I think close-ups work best, getting the personality to show.
what is the most rewarding or surprising experience you’ve ever had with your dogs?
I had to think about this one. I think it is surprising how a new animal in the house can change the alignment of the family and that it really is an adoption.
do you travel often / frequently, or never with your dogs?

what is your favorite pet friendly place (city, state, country) and/or hotel, b&b?
I have a local dog park we go to often, called Egan Park, but really, when I think about it, the houseboat was a great experience for the dogs, running up and down the gang plank and exploring little islands on their own.
how can dog owners help dogs to communicate better?
I’m no expert in that, I just listen and watch.
how do people respond to poochecards?
They seem to enjoy them, although they generally don’t write to me about it like people do with the stories on Tiny Dog Tales.
any tips for pet owners traveling and taking photos of places with their dogs?
Go low, at dog level. If you are shooting with an automatic camera and it’s digital, put the camera down by your ankles and fire away, worry about whether you got a good shot later.
what are some of the benefits for dogs of poochecards? (raise their self esteem, calm them down, make doggie pals?)
My mind whirs at the possibilities, we shall see!
