Message from Rebecca Corry:

We made history and gave Pibbles a giant voice !!! Long overdue and just the beginning of much needed change. Abuse and discrimination will no longer be tolerated. We want our communities back, safe and humane for humans and pets. We are the majority and we are only getting louder. It was an honor to share that day with you all. Whether you watched through Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or you were there, you were all a part of something amazing. Our hope is that the PIBBLE MARCH inspires each of you to DO SOMETHING. Start petitions, create programs in your communities to end dog fighting, contact you law makers, organize rallies, marches, meet ups, foster, adopt, volunteer, create Facebook pages with information about how people can help. Get spay/neuter vouchers out to your communities. If you suspect someone is abusing a dog or fighting dogs, REPORT THEM. You have the power to educate, inspire and accomplish change. #‎endabuse #‎standupforpits#‎endbsl #‎betheirvoice #‎angel

We had a wonderful time at the One Million Pibble March on Washington DC yesterday. What a great group of people rallying together for their beloved pets and all the animals who need a voice. Roo and I spent some time walking around the capitol Friday night and reminiscing about Wallace and all the places and experiences he brought to us. I think I spy a Wallace sign in this photo! And I saw a few Wallace t-shirts, too! I was glad to meet so many people and I wish we could have met everyone. For those of you who couldn’t make it to the march, we know you were there in spirit. We returned home this afternoon to hug Hector the Pit Bull, Mindy, Scooby, and Angus ! –Clara Yori

Note:   There were also events in Canada and Salt Lake City for pit bulls, to end BSL on Saturday, too.

Sweet Doggie Reunion

boy, the dogs are having a Grand Reunion in Heaven… Sweet Georgia, Wallace, Frankie, Viva, are just a few of the doggies who have passed on recently…

I Imagine Georgia greeted by Lucas, Wallace, Leo, Red, and a long line of humans and canines who knew her…

She was a Vicktory dog, Handsome Dan’s mama and he got to visit with her one more time before she left this earth.

Now she is :

Running Free

Evolving

Goodbyes from those who knew her well:

Dearest Georgia,

I am forever grateful to the one who brought Dan to me. I love you old girl. You have endured so much, more than I can imagine. Through rape stands, the fighting pit and having your teeth barbarically removed, you never tried to harm the humans who tortured you. You have made more of an impact than any other dog and saved thousands of victims with your strength and stoic beauty. You are a hero, a martyr, a mother and best friend. I am humbled in your presence.

Please know that I will always take care of your son, that he means the world to me. There is an entire team of people working to bring other victims to safety in his name. Your legacy will live on through every victim of dog fighting who finds their happy ending.

GG, your body is hurting and it is time to leave this world. You will never understand the impact you have made. If I could trade some of the pain your body is feeling right now I would in a heartbeat. Please go softly, wrapped in love and warmth. You are home, you are loved, you are my hero.

With all my heart,

Dan’s Second Mama

Healing paws and K9 angels

it’s been a very difficult and challenging week, to say the least… what with events in Boston and Texas and the Senate…we are glad that the lockdown of Boston is over.

now, a dear dog that we all love and his family also had a very tough week… Hector the pit bull… his brother Wallace, if you recall, was diagnosed with cancer and given a few months to live awhile ago. Wallace has now lived seven months beyond the diagnosis and the cancer is in remission. That is the good news. However, Hector, struggles with babesia, an illness several of the former Vick dogs are dealing with. He just overcame a bout of it but now he has a swollen mass on his spleen which could be cancerous or benign. It’s complicated…

Here’s the update. “We postponed surgery. This is not a simple decision at all. My vet has been working tirelessly to come up with the best solution, but it’s pretty complicated. Yes, I have a mass on my spleen. It could be hemangiosarcoma or some other cancer; It could be a hematoma. If they remove my spleen and it’s cancer, I probably won’t have long to live. If they remove my spleen and it’s not cancer, I will have a very difficult battle against my babesia which could also take my life. Usually dogs can live fine without a spleen, but I really need mine. There’s a chance they could save some of the spleen, but that is unknown. Without a spleen, I could stay on a babesia treatment for the rest of my life, but that could give me bad side effects. There is the option of not doing surgery, treat the babesia, and hope that the mass is related to the babesia and it will heal on its own, but without knowing what the mass is we risk it rupturing again. There aren’t a lot of cases like mine.”

The Yoris and the vet decided not to do surgery to take out his spleen at this time. He has gone home with meds.

We pray that Hector’s spleen is healed and his health improves miraculously. We send his family lots of love and light.  Paws and fingers crossed for canine angels.

Please keep Hector and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Wallace and Hector’s cross country trip

Wallace is checking off his bucket list…and more !!!!

Wallace met Betty White

She was so nice and so sweet! She loved on both me and my bro Hector the Pit Bull! She met us on a break during rehearsal, and when it was mentioned that she really needed to get some lunch before she was due back on stage, her response was “I can eat lunch anytime”, and stayed just a bit longer to give us some more love! Thanks Betty for being so gracious with your time, and for loving dogs of all shapes and sizes!

Here’s a disc used by me and signed by the beautiful Wendie Malick from Hot In Cleveland. She thought I was so gorgeous, she even put it in writing!

BadRap Reunion

Roo and Clara drove 35 hours from Minnesota with Hector and Wallace.  Seven of the V-dogs who touched down in California five years ago were reunited for this photo at the recent Hoedown.

It looks easy – but check out the video of photographer Mark wrangling these squirmy dogs and giggling cowboys and cowgirls to get this fantastic shot:

Wallace was kind enough to grant a photo session with his new book when he was here for the big hoedown slumber party. Although what he REALLY wants in this moment is a break so he can “Please pretty please get back to that awesome toy box pleeease?”

One of the greatest pleasures we’ve had this year was to see Hector the Pit Bull again at our reunion. It’s been over four years since we put him on a plane to his wonderful new life with Roo and Clara. He’s still the same floppy guy, only with a little gray now around his muzzle. And those EYES!

and that Hector famous flop…

weird…
