To facilitate the energy transition in Germany, we need to expand and upgrade our grid infrastructure as the backbone of our energy system. Hence, Transmission System Operators like Amprion GmbH are planning significant investments to provide a future-proofed system.   As a shareholder in Amprion, one of the four TSOs in Germany, we fully support that. To secure the future funding of our 25.1% stake in Amprion, we’ve teamed up with Apollo Global Management, Inc., a global asset manager with significant experience in infrastructure investments.   Apollo will provide €3.2 billion in equity to a new joint venture that will hold our stake in Amprion. Together, we will gradually put these funds into Amprion to support its extensive investment programme. We are very excited to welcome Apollo as our new partner. This interesting article reports on a meeting earlier this month where four Chinese regulators (MIIT, NDRC, SAMR, NEA) called in all of the major Chinese battery manufacturers and integrators. The topic was "below-cost" pricing and industrial overcapacity. This is worth watching closely for anyone forecasting storage costs. This is particularly interesting in the context of the recent announcement that Beijing is cancelling the generous export rebates for solar panels, perhaps signaling a broader policy shift around industrial capacity in clean energy manufacturing in China. The 30%+ annual price drops we've seen recently may not continue if Beijing enforces this. Last week at Handelsblatt Energie-Gipfel 2026 in Berlin, one thing felt different: the conversation has clearly shifted from national energy debates to thinking and acting as Europe. A few take-aways that stuck with me: ⚡ Europe is aligning around electrification We won't explore new oil & gas resources and if want to be less dependent on imports, electrification isn’t optional. It’s foundational to European resilience. 🏭 Deindustrialisation is a real concern There’s growing urgency around keeping European industry competitive. That puts energy costs and cost-effective electrification front and centre of the debate. 🔄 More electrification means more flexibility The system we’re building needs to behave differently. Discussions ranged from adding backup gas capacity in Germany to the rapid acceleration of large-scale batteries, complemented by flexibility from industry and consumers. 🌍 Renewables: Europe is not leading (yet) The share of renewables in Europe is still around ~20%, compared to ~33% in countries like China, Korea and Japan. A sobering reminder that ambition alone isn’t enough: speed and execution matter. 🧠 Grids and digitisation remain the backbone Power grids are the critical enabler of the energy transition and accelerating it means accelerating digitisation just as much. Data, software and intelligence are no longer “nice to have”; they are system-critical. The encouraging part? There is momentum. And increasingly, a shared understanding that Europe’s energy future is something we need to design together: across borders, sectors and technologies. Now it’s about turning alignment into execution. Let’s keep pushing. ⚡🚀

✅ Here comes Intertek! 🏃 TIC giants, Intertek, have announced they have acquired Aerial PV Inspection GmbH, "a leading provider of high-speed, drone-based inspection and diagnostic solutions for solar photovoltaic (PV) systems." Interestingly, Intertek highlights that solar photovoltaics is the fastest-growing form of renewable energy. Rapid global investment is increasing demand for effective, quick quality assurance. Through advanced drone and digital solutions, Aerial PV Inspection GmbH delivers high-precision inspection that detects defects across the solar lifecycle, improving reliability and boosting long-term energy output. On the acquisition, Intertek CEO André Lacroix stated: "Solar is a vital pillar of the global energy transition, and demand for fast-paced Risk‑based Quality Assurance is intensifying. We welcome the AePVI team and look forward to seizing the exciting growth opportunities that come from combining Intertek’s industry-leading portfolio of ATIC solutions and global network with AePVI’s advanced technologies."
