Sisters

A young wife sat on a sofa on a hot humid day, drinking iced tea and visiting with her Mother. As they talked about life, about marriage, about the responsibilities of life and the obligations of adulthood, the mother clinked the ice cubes in her glass thoughtfully and turned a clear, sober glance upon her daughter. 'Don't forget your Sisters,' she advised, swirling the tea leaves to the bottom of her glass. 'They'll be more important as you get older. No matter how much you love your husband, no matter how much you love the children you may have, you are still going to need Sisters. Remember to go places with them now and then; do things with them. 'Remember that 'Sisters' means ALL the women... your girlfriends, your daughters, and all your other women relatives too. You'll need other women. Women always do.' 'What a funny piece of advice!' the young woman thought. 'Haven't I just gotten married? Haven't I just joined the couple-world? I'm now a married woman, for goodness sake! A grownup! Surely my husband and the family we may start will be all I need to make my life worthwhile!' But she listened to her Mother. She kept contact with her Sisters and made more women friends each year. As the years tumbled by, one after another, she gradually came to understand that her Mom really knew what she was talking about. As time and nature work their changes and their mysteries upon a woman, Sisters are the mainstays of her life. After many years of living in this world, here is what I've learned:

THIS SAYS IT ALL:

Time passes.

Life happens.

Distance separates.

Children grow up.

Jobs come and go.

Love waxes and wanes.

Men don't do what they're supposed to do.

Hearts break.

Parents die.

Colleagues forget favors.

Careers end.

BUT.........

Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between you. A girl friend is never farther away than needing her can reach. When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on, praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the valley's end. Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you. Or come in and carry you out. Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters, daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, mothers, grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended family, all bless our life! The world wouldn't be the same without women, and neither would I. When we began this adventure called womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we would need each other. Every day, we need each other still.

I got this in an email and thought I would share it

half baby half monkey

I'm not really sure what to do about this. Right now I have all the chairs pushed away from the table, but it won't be long until she will figure out how to push them back. She can do this very quietly so I turn my back and go upstairs and she climbs on the table!

What a difference a year makes

I am pretty sure this is overboard, but today is Camdyn's first birthday (we just had the party on Saturday). I wanted to post some pictures of her one year ago today. I can't believe it has gone by so fast. She is such a busy little girl now, not my little, tiny, immobile, baby. :(
These pictures are from her first day. She was born 9:21 am. weighed, 7 lbs 15 oz. 19 inches.

more pictures from the weekend

Camdyn got so dirty in the backyard while we were cleaning up the concrete. I had to drain the bath water twice just to get her clean (she hasn't gone in the backyard since).

1st birthday

We had such a fun and busy day yesterday. Camdyn was completely spoiled by all her aunts and Grandparents. She wasn't too sure about just diving right into the cake but she did make a pretty good mess.

The night before the party Aunt Linde woke up in the middle of the night thinking about how she wanted to do Camdyn's hair for the party. So she got her all fixed up in pigtails! It was so cute.

Happy Birthday Racer!

I thought I would post this before the day got too crazy. We had cement come at 7:00am for our backyard. The boys are working away as we speak. And we have Camdyn's Birthday Party this evening.

Happy Birthday Race. I can't believe you are 18. That's how old I thought I was! Have a good day. We Love you!

I've been feeling lately like I am so busy during the day, but doing what? At the end of the day I don't feel like I have gotten one chore completely done. Example: started laundry today but at 9:30pm I can still hear the washer whirling away:(
Anyway, I was hoping I could post this tonight and in the morning I would magically have the answer to dilemma. So how do you stay on top of things? I need to try some new methods because I feel way too unorganized! I'm thinking job chart like when I was 10 (I'll have to ask my mom, but I don't think I followed through then either).
At least I am blessed with work to do. I have a sweet little girl and a great husband, I can clean up after them any day. ;)

Hungry?

Camdyn made up a Delicious bowl of dog food soup! She really likes to help me stir when I am cooking. Today she took a fork out of the dishwasher outside and started stirring dog food into Duke's water. YUCK!

(sorry the video is so bad, I'm not sure what's up)

My litte sick ones

Camdyn and Daniel have both been feeling sick today. That means a lot sleeping, watching TV and reading books. Camdyn slept from 4 to 7 this evening so she probably won't be going to bed anytime soon:(

I thought these were funny...

Daniel got home at 8:00 Saturday night after being gone the night before. When Camdyn saw him she got a "second wind" and she didn't stop moving until probably 9:30(which is really late for her). So we decided to pull the mattress out into the living room and watch a little TV and hopefully all 3 of us could crash.

I was trying to get a good picture of all of us in bed together but as you can tell Camdyn had other things in mind!

At least you can see all of our faces in this one

Friday, March 7, 2008

I gave Camdyn a chocolate cookie on the way home from the store. When we got home I went to get her out of her seat and this is how I found her, sound asleep with cookie all over her face...life doesn't get much better.

She was filthy after an evening of playing in our backyard (which is just dirt). I was trying to wash her hands in the sink but she wanted to get in, so I stripped her down and put her in. She thought it was funny that she was in there. She even used the dish scrubber on her belly.

morning at the park

We went to the park today with Linde, Kenzi and Kooper. We had so much fun, including me, I went down the BIG slides with Kenzi! Camdyn and Kooper LOVED feeding the ducks. They both tried to get into the water with them.

The weather has been so nice we had dinner outside tonight. Here are a few pictures of Camdyn enjoying her pizza and kickin' back!

chick flick weekend

Since Daniel had to work out of town this weekend I loaded up on the chick flicks. First I watched Chocolat, It was on TV and I missed the first 30 minutes but I stilled loved it! Johnny Depp is way to cute!

Then I watched A Raisin In The Sun, the new one with Sean Combs, I wasn't sure I would like him in it but he did a really good job. I had never heard the story before but it was excellent, something everybody should watch.
And lastly I watched Becoming Jane, which by far was the most chick flicky but I LOVED every second of it! I didn't know much about Jane Austen before the movie and now I think I might be hooked. All in all it was a good girlie weekend!
