Cows grazing in a forest near a farm in Karjat, India. Under an overcast rain soaked Monson morning – four cows walking in a row are seen wandering through brambles and lush greenery. Cows are venerated in India as a symbol of Mother Earth. In the West, the cow is widely considered as walking hamburgers but in ancient India making one’s abdomen a graveyard for beef was disrespectful and displayed a lack of gratitude. Like Hindus, Native Americans and Pagans of Europe also had respect for Mother Nature. From photo taken in Summer of 2013. © 2013

Dhobiwala boy
A young boy clad in shorts, t-shirt and flip flop slippers delivers freshly washed and ironed clothes on his bike in Vashi, Navi Mumbai. Cars are parked behind him of the apartment complex. Intrigued by how a digital camera works – he was eager to pose. Sketch done with watercolor pencils. Photo taken in Summer of 2013. © 2013
