In the autumn, a young White-tailed buck with antlers and a dark coat stands proudly in the woods, ablaze with brilliant foliage and surrounded with a profusion of twigs and trees as well as dried up wildflowers like golden rods and cow parsley. Seated on the floor a couple of villagers are in a deep and earnest discussions in the district of Thanjavur in Tamilnadu, India, against a backdrop of rice (paddy) fields, coconut trees and a farmer’s hut. Two women in bright colored saris and men in striped colorful cotton lungis (with a slipper slightly hidden). Lungis are infinitely more suitable and versatile than trousers for high, humid heat and rainy weather of the region.
