Rishi meditating on a hill

The Rishis of India were the ancient pathmakers. They were the revered pioneers of the Hindu religion, and pre-eminent among them are Vishvamitra and Vasistha. The great Rishis of the Vedic age composed the hymns, fought their wars, and ploughed their fields; but they were neither Brahmins, nor Kshatriyas nor Vaisyas. From the Book, Surya’s Tapestry: Ancient Rishis’ Pathways to Hinduism – By Sushama Londhe. http://www.suryastapestry.com/  © 2017.

The Bhagavad Gita

Lord Krishna expounds the unique philosophy of the Bhagavad Gita. The Bhagavad Gita has influenced great Americans from Thoreau to Oppenheimer. Its message of letting go of the fruits of one’s actions is just as relevant today as it was when it was first written more than two millennia ago. Maharishi Ved Vyas

Rishi (Sage) Ved Vyasa, chronicler seated in a pristine and peaceful landscape. Tradition has it that Vyasa, gave to the world the Epic of Mahabharata (part of ithasa). Vyasa (ancestor of the Kauravas and Pandavas) requested Lord Ganesha to write it down. Ganesha is agreed to write it only if Vyasa never paused in his recitation. Vyasa agrees on condition that Ganesha takes the time to understand what was said before writing it down. A Symbolic appreciation: Lord Vishnu on Seshnag

Lord Vishnu, lies on the infinite ocean from which the world emerges. The blue body of the Lord signifies that He has infinite (as the universe) attributes. The Lord is shown standing or lying down on a thousand-headed snake (named Shesha or Ananta Nag – timeless or ageless snake). The snake stands with its hoods open over the head of the Lord.
