An elderly Aymara woman with a weather beaten wrinkled face is walking down the streets of a small village on the outskirts of the dusty town of Uyuni in Bolivia. Uyuni is famous for the world’s largest salt flats with a great deal of wildlife. Grimacing in the bright hot sunlight she makes her way past a small school for children. Bolivia has authentic Andean culture but situated at elevation, the climate here is harsh, extreme, desolate, cold and hot – she is seen here hair braided, wearing sweaters and an apron with an old black bowling hat. Her wire and beads earrings are her only ornaments. From a photo taken in 2012. © 2019
