Turquoise Gorge

Looking down from above – A bridge runs across the milky turquoise water of the Kawarau river gorge in Central Otago, New Zealand. The vibrant, unbelievably blue water of this river can be attributed to the fine rock-flour (ground by near by glaciers) which is suspended in the water. A line of tall poplar trees are seen to the north and around the rocky gorge – dense greenery that includes trees, shrubs, and wildflowers like lupins, poppies, daisies and wild roses that grow in profusion.
