Be Whatever You Want To Be

A couple of days ago marked my 1 year return to SL. Tomorrow is actually 1 year since I decided to come back to blogging. Well, I say that like there was ever any choice for me. Blogging and doing photos were the main reasons I wanted to come back in the first place. I could have just done photos and not blogged. But let’s be real,though. That was honestly never an option for me.

The past year has been… Well, SL-wise, it’s been pretty decent! RL is a whole other story. 😂 But SL has been good. I set up a new home (well, several, before deciding on my current house), I fixed my land up, I dated a little bit, and I just reconnected with this world that I truly love.

What’s the plan for the next year? I really don’t know! I want to get better at my photos, make them more interesting, etc. I hope to get involved with blogging for at least a couple more events, since event blogging is my favorite. Maybe I’ll date again? Or just go out more in general? Or find a new house? Who knows! SL keeps moving, so I’ll just keep moving with it.

If you don’t follow me on Facebook, you haven’t seen this outfit. But if you do, you’ve already seen it and my request that people tell me I’m pretty because I thought I looked cute and I sure wasn’t going to leave my house to see people.

I don’t know when I got to be such a homebody in SL. When I came back, I was happy to explore. But now? I want to stay in my private little space where I feel safe. The downside of this is that sometimes I really do look cute and no one tells me.

It Could Bend or It Could Break

Do you ever just not know how to pose a photo? Like, you know the outfit you want to wear. You know where you want to take the photo. But you just CANNOT figure out a pose? That was me today. So I’ve done this pose before in another photo, but I’m doing it again, with a minor change to my head. Thank goodness for gadgets that let us adjust certain things, am I right?

But I Still Need Love

I’m tired as heck these days. I hate it. I want to be doing more things and I can’t and it’s really quite annoying. And I do sleep. I’m getting 9-10 hours a night, most nights. And I have a lot of “down time” during the day because I go sit with my mom for usually 4-5 hours a day. (I call it down time, but it’s really not since I’m there to visit and help. But I do get a lot of time to scroll on my phone, too.)

I think I’m just exhausted from not doing much that has brought my heart joy lately. I really gotta do more of that. One day. 😅

Guess what? Summerfest 2024 starts tomorrowwww!! Yes! June 22 at 12noon SLT, one of my most favorite events of the year starts! I was absolutely THRILLED to be invited to be one of their bloggers this year. Between you and me, this was *the* event I was working towards when I came back to SL this year. Well, the seasonal event, I should say. I have a couple of other monthly events that I truly hope to be invited to one day. But for the seasonal events, Summerfest was IT. And now it’s here!!

Summerfest lasts until July 12th, so if you don’t get in on opening day, don’t worry. You have some time, but you probably want to go ASAP!

I’m 15 For A Moment

This has really been a hell of a month. If you don’t follow me on social media – My mom went into the hospital on the 6th. She’s still there. What’s wrong with her? Well heck, what’s NOT wrong at this point? We thought she’d be in there for a week, then move on to assisted living since she can no longer live by herself. But no. More and more keeps popping up that’s wrong. And it stinks. I go to the hospital every single day and stay 5 or 6 hours. I don’t eat while I’m up there usually because the hospital kills my appetite. I barely leave the room because she doesn’t like it when I do. I smile, I answer questions over and over, I talk to doctors and nurses, I make choices that I shouldn’t have to make. I’m tired down to my soul.

But I was looking at things from Anthology this round and I saw this shirt. And for the first time in 2 weeks, I genuinely laughed out loud. It’s silly. It’s kind of juvenile. And it’s exactly what I needed.

Don’t Hide Yourself In Regret

Happy Pride Month, y’all! I’ve been proud to be an ally since I was in high school and some of my friends felt comfortable coming out. I know it couldn’t have been easy for them. After all, we lived in a small Texas town and the possibility of not being accepted was pretty high. But they did it anyway. Surprisingly, no one seemed to care. I think for a lot of us, it just answered questions we had, like “Why doesn’t he like me?” Or for me, the question was usually “Why are we dating but he’s always more excited about going out with the guys?” 🤣

A few years ago, while chatting with people, the term “demisexual” came up. Demisexuals are people who don’t feel sexual attraction unless they’ve formed an emotional bond with someone. I laughed and said that was silly, everyone was like that, right? The response was “Oh. Oh, honey.” Well, heck. 😅 Upon researching it more, I checked a lot of the boxes and suddenly things made a LOT more sense. So, technically, since demisexuality is part of the asexuality spectrum, I guess I am also part of the rainbow, too.

But mostly, I’m going to be an ally. Because that’s what my buddies deserve.

I have to admit, I’m not really much of a morning person. I never really have been, but I did fake it for a while. Now? It’s 50/50 on if you’re going to get a “slightly quiet, less cheerful” me if you talk to me right when I wake up, or if you’re going to get “Oh dear god, who let this demon arise from her slumber” me. 🤣

Coffee usually helps. I still wouldn’t advise talking to me for about an hour after I wake up, though. Just for safety.

I Feel A Sin Comin’ On

I’m a Texas girl. I think everyone knows that by now. So as a Texas girl, I am required by birth to love boots. I can’t help it, it’s simply in my blood. When I was younger, I used to have a pair of blue ropers. (Ropers are wider in the toe and have a shorter leg part as compared to a traditional cowboy boot.) Oh I loved my blue boots. They were kind of a dark slate blue. I’d pair them up with jeans and a cute tank top or t-shirt and hit up the country bars with friends. I was so wild in those boots. I had other boots. Brown, black, lace up, heeled. But those blue boots. Those were my “I’m gonna kiss boys and be a menace” boots.

I don’t really wear boots in my offline life anymore, and I certainly don’t go to country bars. But in SL, I appreciate gorgeous boots. And it’s 50/50 on the menace part.

The Strongest Part Of Me

Today is my dad’s birthday. He would have been 86. It’s the 3rd one without him. I wish I had gotten to spend his last one with him, but it was 2020, and we all know what a complete mess that year was. For the last 2 birthdays, I’ve drank a Coke (his beverage of choice) and watched an episode of an old western. Rawhide, Gunsmoke, Bonanza, he watched those all the time. My mom said he could find an episode of any of those shows any day, any time. I have a Coke. I just… Well, I hope he understands, but I probably will not watch an episode of Rawhide this year. 😂 (I watched Gunsmoke last year, and Bonanza the year before.) But maybe I can find an old western movie on one of the streaming services. I used to buy my dad DVDs for his birthday of old western movies, or war movies. My mom has them now. She uses them for doorstops. 🤣

I miss my dad. But it’s not the constant ache it was before. I’d say time heals all wounds, but mostly time makes it more tolerable.
