Don’t Waste The Time I Don’t Have

Do you have goals for your SLife? When I came back, I didn’t. I just wanted to be here without fear. I think that was probably my only goal. But as soon as I got in and started finding my way again, I’ve made a few. I have some “holy grail” events that I truly want to blog for. I am keeping my eyes WIDE open to see if they ever ask for bloggers!

And I want to get off of my platform and redo my region. I think it came as a surprise to some people that it wasn’t the first thing I wanted to do, since I’d talked about it quite a bit. But I know that once I start, it will be a huge undertaking, and I still have other things I do, like my Twitch streaming. Part of me thinks I’ll just ask someone to do it for me. Or at least help me. But we’ll see.

But for now, I’ll keep working on getting better at photos again, and getting better at blogging. I’m happy enough in my little sky world at the moment.

I’m My Type

So I decided to venture out into Second Life last night. Sometimes I get a little…not lonely, but I want to see other people. Last night, I went to a club that I’ve been to before. The music is good, and now that I have gestures turned off, the people are tolerable. Typically, no one bothers me while I dance and listen to music, so I spend my time people watching and checking profiles. Well, that came to an end last night.

This guy IMed me, said hi, asked if I wanted to dance with him, and told me I was beautiful. Well heck, sure, let’s dance. He spent quite a bit of time complimenting my avatar, even down to my size and skin, which I felt was odd but I haven’t been hit on in SL in forever, so I figured maybe that’s what guys do now. His profile was bland, just a lot of picks for clubs and beaches, so I didn’t really look at them. Our conversation was also rather bland, despite my best efforts. He gave me a landmark of somewhere he said I might like to explore. I remembered the name from his profile picks, so I went to look and see if he’d written anything about the place.

The place is a RP domination region where women can be kidnapped and forced into slavery.

So I thanked him for the dance and said I had to go, which he seemed slightly annoyed about, and got my rear end out of there!

If I’m going to get kidnapped, it’s not going to be by a guy wearing a cheap suit.

I realized a couple of days ago that since coming back, I’ve done 2 photos now where I’m holding a cigarette. Now this makes 3. I don’t even smoke! 😅 I like props, though, and sometimes a cigarette is just the easiest prop. Plus… It looks cool? I hate smoking, I hate the smell and everything. But the aesthetic? Kind of hot.

Blame It On The Dopamine

Right before I took my break from SL, I was diagnosed with ADHD. ADHD-Primarily Inattentive, if you want to get more specific. Did it matter much to get diagnosed as an adult? Well, yes and no. I can’t go back and make school better for me, or tell the teacher who said I’d never amount to more than a cashier at Walmart that I simply learn differently than the others, or tell the guidance counselor who said I wouldn’t even make it in fast food that I need a different kind of help. (Which…wtf? Who tells children that kind of stuff?) I can’t go back and tell former friends why I reacted the way I did to certain things when a neurotypical wouldn’t react the same way. But I *can* move forward now. There was a certain kind of freedom in getting diagnosed. Knowing really is half the battle. 🤣

But being someone with ADHD means I’m always seeking dopamine. ADHDers are typically deficient in the dopamine department. Second Life, right now, is giving me SO much dopamine. Who knew?

I Know I Always Come And Go

About 2 or 3 years ago, I started collecting bee stuff. I have hair clips and earrings and necklaces with bees/beehives/honey on them. I love the little (and actually false) saying about bumblebees that because of their wings being small and their bodies being chubby, they shouldn’t be able to fly. But they don’t know that, so they fly anyway. And there’s something just kind of adorable and inspiring about that.

So while yes, I will impulsively buy just about anything for 50L, apparently if there are bees, I will also impulsively buy it.

I have problems.

I spent most of Tuesday night sorting through my incredibly massive inventory. No, I will not give a number. Let’s just say it’s bad. Very very bad.

I’m quite sentimental in a lot of ways. There are things I have from creators who have passed. There are things that sparked beautiful memories. There are things that were quickly boxed up into a special box that will never be opened again, but yet I didn’t want to just delete it all quite yet. Memories and lessons, you know?

Of course, the biggest lesson I learned is that old me LOVED bling and almost every prim marked as “Object” in my inventory is just exploding with bling. 😂

You Can’t Blame A Girl For Trying

So I had a question, and maybe some of you can actually help me out. But are there any good casual clubs in SL these days? Like, just chill places where you don’t have to dress up, but can just go in jeans and listen to some music? I don’t really want to go out out, but I used to go to casual places and just dance and listen to music and people watch. I don’t particularly want to be social, but once in a while, I also don’t want to be just dancing on my platform alone either.

But, I am actually enjoying the solitude a lot, too. My real world is often quite stressful. It’s been a breath of fresh air coming back to SL and just hermiting up on my platform. In fact, it’s the first time in over 3 years where I have a few moments that I feel like I can actually breathe again.

There Never Really Was A You And Me

I’ve been giving a lot of thought lately to blogging. I mean, obviously, since I seem to be doing it daily. But more like, what KIND of blogger do I want to be? Everyone finds their way. Casual fashion, editorial, home and garden, mainstores, events, etc. Before I left, I was primarily an event blogger. Oh I LOVED blogging events! I think at my peak, I blogged for some of the best events on the grid. But when I came back, I thought, “Maybe I won’t officially blog for anyone or anything. Maybe that’s how to do it.”

But the truth is, I want to still be an event blogger. Along with doing cute photos and writing about my life in here, I want to blog events because I adore them. I’m SO incredibly lucky and grateful that I’ve been accepted to (and back to) some stores already. I love them so much and I want to do a good job for them. And I actually got accepted to 2 events this weekend!! I’m so thrilled, you don’t even know! I know that they’re taking a chance on someone who might have a history in SL, but is basically just starting out again, and they don’t have to do that. So I’m going to do my best for them.

I do still want to write about things in here, though. I know that’s not as common in fashion blogs anymore, but I’m old school! I have my personal SL blog still. Maybe I should also resurrect it. Who knows. 🙂

How Could I Possibly Be Inconspicuous

When I was younger, I used to go to the mall a lot. I grew up in a town where most people were the paycheck to paycheck type, and where tax season was huge. You always knew who had gotten their tax returns back because the kids would have brand new shoes and be talking about a new tv or something. But the one thing that every family did, regardless of financial status, was go to the mall. Especially on weekends. The mall was beautiful at that time. It had good restaurants and live shows or bands would perform. Lots of good stores to window shop at, too, if you couldn’t afford to buy anything. Sometimes my parents would drive us out to another town to go to the mall there. Mall culture was huge and it was amazing.

But most of the malls here started dying off in the mid-2000s. The one closest to where I grew up is a shadow of its former self. I don’t know if I would go even if it weren’t, though. I love my online shopping, and I love not having to be around people much. But I’ll tell you this much. If Tiktok had been around when I was a teen, I would have been THAT girl making videos in the middle of the mall.
