When I was a little girl, my sisters (who were 12 and 15 years older than me) had a HUGE old record player/stereo. It was one of those that looked like a sideboard. You lifted the top and inside was the record player, radio, and if I’m remembering correctly, it even played 8 tracks! They kept it in their room until they both moved out when I was 6 or 7, and then my parents slid it into the living room to use as furniture. My sisters had tons of records and I loved playing them, even though the music was definitely not particularly child friendly. But when you grow up in a house with adults and people who were about to be, sometimes they don’t always remember that your ears are still little.
I have no idea what happened to that old record player. My mom was not one for sentimentality and when our house was remodeled when I was 16, she happily got rid of basically all of our furniture. But I have to wonder… Did she take the nickel off of the record player arm first??
