I Am Light

I admit, I had a bit of a pity party for myself recently. I had an idea for a blog photo, one of the first real creative sparks I’ve had in a while. But before I could do it, I saw many blogger friends blog the same things, even in almost the same style of what I wanted to do. And I felt down. I don’t have the time (or energy) to blog the way I did years ago, where I could produce daily blogs with no issues. Life is life, you know? So now, by the time I am able to put something together, everyone I follow has basically already blogged the items. It does make you feel like you’re a lesser blogger sometimes when you don’t produce the same amount as others can, as quickly as they can.

But then I thought, okay, but does it really matter? I have always done photos because I genuinely love it. I love promoting stores and events that I enjoy. And I know that I’m not copying anyone’s photo, I have my own style. Even if a dozen other bloggers have blogged something I want to use, why shouldn’t I do it, too? All promotion is good promotion, isn’t it?

So basically, I told myself to quit crying and get back to doing what I love. And I think that’s about as good of a daily affirmation as I can do for myself today.

I’m Not Ready To Back Down

I think there comes a time in every blogger’s life where creativity takes a whole dip and the thought of putting together a photo at all is just draining more than it is fulfilling. I’ve been going through that this past year. Maybe even two years. My offline life is…well, sometimes it’s really draining itself. I’ve struggled hard to find creativity when my mind is constantly on practical matters. As a result, I’ve dropped the ball on a lot of things. And that really sucks, because doing SL photos is truly one of my biggest loves.

But you know what? I’m not ready to give up yet. And I have people in my life, my future partner especially, who push me to do more, be more creative, dream bigger, be whimsical and free. I’ve watched him recently as he’s been working on new music he’ll play at SL23B and it’s inspiring to me. So it’s time to get off my pixel ass and get to work.

So here’s the thing. I get it. The minute Halloween is done, some of you run screaming into Christmas like that annoying elf from … well, the movie Elf. But I’m not that kind of girl! See, where I live, “fall” doesn’t really start until Halloween. That’s almost always the first *real* cool night we have. So for me, it’s finally NOT summer. I need more time to enjoy fall!!

I love my Saturdays now. I have the whole day to basically do anything I want, which is usually a whole lot of nothing. It’s kind of beautiful. I think that’s really what I’ve needed for a long time. Time to do nothing. Saturdays are now just for whatever I want, and it’s peaceful knowing that.

She’s Gonna Keep On Making Wishes

It’s been a year since my mom had The Big Fall and landed in the hospital, then in the nursing home. As much as I didn’t think I could survive it at the time, I have survived. More than survived, if I’m being honest. Unfortunately, the return of my anxiety happened this last week. That chest crushing kind of anxiety. I have to say, that was a super unwelcome visitor! I can’t believe that used to be my daily life. Luckily, I’m a little more prepared for life these days, so I handled what I needed to handle.

But now I’m in “post-survival burnout” mode. My nervous system has to regulate and get out of fight or flight mode. Supposedly this is a good thing. But it’s making me unable to get into anything! Reading? Nah, not interested in new books. Watching shows or movies? No thanks. Gaming? I don’t know what that is. Be creative in SL? Hahaha! It’s really kind of a mess! But I’ll go through it if it gets me to the other side. And I’ll just keep making my wishes that everything settles back down soon enough.

You Liked Me Better In Your Head

I don’t like to change viewers too often in SL because, well, I’m kind of lazy when it comes to these things. I like what I like and setting up a new viewer is annoying to me. But after reading about William Weaver’s Aperture Viewer, I thought I’d give it a try. And honestly, I like it a lot. It runs smooth, pics are great, and lots of little things that are bothersome to me while doing photos in SL are almost eliminated with this viewer. But I think the BEST part is the poser. As you all know, I’m a faithful user of the AnyPose system in SL. I mod almost every pose I use. But this poser… WOW. Being able to do itsy bitsy little adjustments? Game changer.

Now I don’t really care for it for just walking around for one reason. When I’m out and about in SL, I like my lighting to be bright. Currently I use a bright shadeless sky that is slightly reminiscent of CalWL. But I find in Aperture, it’s not as bright. But you know what? That’s okay. I don’t mind pulling up Aperture just for photos. If you do a lot of photography in SL, I totally suggest giving it a try!

Be Whatever You Want To Be

A couple of days ago marked my 1 year return to SL. Tomorrow is actually 1 year since I decided to come back to blogging. Well, I say that like there was ever any choice for me. Blogging and doing photos were the main reasons I wanted to come back in the first place. I could have just done photos and not blogged. But let’s be real,though. That was honestly never an option for me.

The past year has been… Well, SL-wise, it’s been pretty decent! RL is a whole other story. 😂 But SL has been good. I set up a new home (well, several, before deciding on my current house), I fixed my land up, I dated a little bit, and I just reconnected with this world that I truly love.

What’s the plan for the next year? I really don’t know! I want to get better at my photos, make them more interesting, etc. I hope to get involved with blogging for at least a couple more events, since event blogging is my favorite. Maybe I’ll date again? Or just go out more in general? Or find a new house? Who knows! SL keeps moving, so I’ll just keep moving with it.

So I’m going to be honest. I had some issues with my dress today. It’s gorgeous, don’t get me wrong! I absolutely love it. But from the vendor ad, I had no idea my lady garden would be out! 😂 And I’m assuming for a lot of people, that’s not a concern. Maybe it’s even rigged a little differently for other bodies. But I put on the dress, no underpants, and laughed because, oh, HELLO. Luckily I have little “cups” that cover the goodies, and BOM underpants that match pretty well. But I still laughed because all I could think was “Well, that’s one way to celebrate the holidays.”

You Can’t Change The Way I Am

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m spoiled. I feel like people are a little put off when I say that. When you think “spoiled,” the phrase “spoiled brat” comes to mind. And I don’t believe that I am that. But I am spoiled, immensely so, by the people who love me. It’s not just with money. It’s time, it’s love, it’s energy. The people who love me want me to be happy and that is such a gift. These are not things that I really ask for. They know I generally ask for very little. But they are willing to spoil me in the ways that they feel suit me best. And honestly, I could not be more grateful for it. My wish is that all of you have at least one person who spoils you like that, too.

Speaking of spoiled, oh my gosh. We just got spoiled with the new collab from The Kiwi Co. and Truth!! I’m not even wearing all of what I could be wearing because there are so many options for the clothes, and the hair is so gorgeous, I don’t want to take it off! Even if this set wasn’t done by some of my very favorite people, I would be saying the same thing. Go get this nowwww!
