I Didn’t Know I’d Need My Coat

I’ll be honest with you all. I don’t know how to dress for the weather in the winter. I am a Texas girl, and our winters are almost always fairly mild. But our weather really can go from freezing at 6am to 75 degrees by noon. I typically just put something on and hope for the best. Some days, I’m dying of heatstroke because I chose to wear a sweater over a long sleeved tee. Other days, I’m freezing because I figured a dress and sandals would be good. Over the years, it’s made me very much a weather nerd and I check the weather constantly. But still, no matter how much I check, I’m almost always dressed not quite right for whatever the temperature is. Oh well. I always look cute, and that really is the most important part.

I keep thinking I’m about ready for summer to be over. I love fall, and pumpkins, and sweaters, and all that good fall stuff. But… I’ll miss the summer, too. Like A Girl

I don’t regret a whole lot of things about my life, but one thing that I’m slightly regretful for is not being a “girl’s girl” earlier in my life. I fell into the trap that a lot of young women fall into. Guys are “less drama.” Guy friends are better. I don’t get along with other girls. I’m a cool girl. I’m just one of the guys. Blah blah blah.

I cherish my friendships with women now. I am absolutely not one of the guys and I don’t want to be. Men aren’t less drama. A dramatic person is a dramatic person regardless of gender identity. I like to think of myself as a girl’s girl. I am a lot more selective of the men I choose as friends now, and I don’t hold back who I am as a woman just to prove that I can hang.

But I think that’s just growing up.

I Kinda Like It In My Brand New Place

Anyone who knows me knows my love for coffee. My parents started letting me have coffee when I was about 3. Of course, it was mostly milk with a bit of coffee, but if they were having coffee after dinner, then I *better* be getting my cup, too! It’s very common in Latin families, so it always made me laugh that some of my friends had never tasted coffee until high school. It doesn’t really make me hyper or anything. In fact, in ADHD people, caffeine often gives us a bit of focus, but sometimes makes us sleepy. Isn’t that funny?

But I still need my morning coffee to wake up. I think it’s more of a ritual for me at this point. I get up and have my coffee, and that signals to my brain “Okay, it’s time to wake up now.” Or I just like starting off my morning with a delicious cup of something sweet. That could be it, too.

I really think that I’m going to have to start posting in my personal SL blog again. I’m fighting myself from writing loads and loads about my thoughts and stuff in here! And most people just really want a picture and credits.

But you know what? I’m not that kind of blogger! Woo! 🤣 But, I probably should keep it more to the style part of things, huh? We’ll see how that goes.

You know, one thing that kind of surprised me coming back is how most of my faves are still in business. I know it was “only” 3 years, but we all know how fast SL moves. I was almost sure that a lot of them would have dwindled off, or completely left. Or some new stores would rise up and be big powerhouses in the world of SL fashion. And while I have found a lot of new stores, for the most part, it’s about the same. It’s comforting, but also strange at the same time. But hey, as long as there’s always new pretty things to buy, I guess it doesn’t really matter in the end.

You Can’t Blame A Girl For Trying

So I had a question, and maybe some of you can actually help me out. But are there any good casual clubs in SL these days? Like, just chill places where you don’t have to dress up, but can just go in jeans and listen to some music? I don’t really want to go out out, but I used to go to casual places and just dance and listen to music and people watch. I don’t particularly want to be social, but once in a while, I also don’t want to be just dancing on my platform alone either.

But, I am actually enjoying the solitude a lot, too. My real world is often quite stressful. It’s been a breath of fresh air coming back to SL and just hermiting up on my platform. In fact, it’s the first time in over 3 years where I have a few moments that I feel like I can actually breathe again.

Hello, lovely people! I hope you all are staying warm! I know so many of you are just buried under the snow right now! It has been the perfect weather for curling up on the couch with a good book and a cup of hot chocolate! (Or tea. Or coffee. Hey, I don’t know your life.)
