It’s definitely felt more warm and “summer is coming” around here lately. And for me, that means dresses! I’m a huge fan of pretty dresses in my offline world, and that definitely shows in my SLife, too. I wasn’t always a fan of dresses. I thought they required work. But then a few years ago, I bought one just to throw on, and I realized how EASY dresses are. You look instantly put together, no real work required. And that’s the kind of fashion fun I can get down with.

I asked my guy the other night if he would mind letting me be “brainless” for the evening since my brain had basically been on at 100 for the entire day. He’s pretty good at making sure I feel held, so even though it’s not something I would have asked anyone before because letting go of control for even a moment makes me feel like I’m getting hives, I felt like it was safe to do it with him. And I think that’s kind of a beautiful version of love in its own way, you know? Safety. Feeling safe with someone who doesn’t make you feel weird for needing things, even if you can’t really put into words what you need.
Now did I let go completely? No. I’m me and I’m kind of a control freak by nature because that’s how I’ve always protected myself. But I’m learning that it’s okay if I lean sometimes, too. It doesn’t make me less strong. In fact, it kind of makes me more.

Earlier this week, my guy and I watched the old Disney version of Alice In Wonderland. I hadn’t seen it in so many years! But I laughed during it because it is so Second Life coded. Everything was a little wild. Things and people were too huge or too small. Animals were talking. Someone was crying. All of it was just a little off.
But that’s kind of the beauty of SL, isn’t it? We’re all a little mad here.

I think it probably surprises some people that out of the thousands of photos I’ve done over the years for my blog, the ones I love best are the “darker” ones. I have tons of great, happy, bright and shiny pics. But my faves? Oh, just me being held by a werewolf in a graveyard. Me smoking while someone lays unalived behind me. Me holding a knife while someone walks down the stairs. You know, those kinds! But I haven’t done as many in the past year simply because … well, honestly, I don’t have a reason. I think I just haven’t been as creative. But I definitely would like to change that. I’m going to change that.
I think we all know about my pumpkin love. I’ve never hidden it. I love pumpkins so much! I’m actually slightly surprised that I haven’t overloaded my home with pumpkins so far this fall. I think it’s because my region has been getting a little bit of an update and I’m slowly decorating the house. But honestly? I’m not sure I like the house. 😂 It’s very pretty aesthetically. But I don’t know. I don’t feel connected to it.
And that’s really what it comes down to with our favorite things, right? I like feeling connected to the things I plan on using daily. I like that cozy feeling.

When I was younger, I used to love rocks. Rocks, crystals, etc. I loved them. I’d beg my parents to stop at this tiny rock shop that was on the way to my grandma’s house almost every single time we went to visit, which was usually twice a month for most of my childhood. I had a nice little collection. But as I grew older, and as my mom got more and more tired of my “treasures,” I slowly lost my collection. I remained crystal-less for most of my adulthood up until last month when my best friend Sophia decided it was time for me to have some again. I LOVE my new crystals. And honestly? Starting a new collection again has put me in a softer mood over the past month. Well, it’s one of many reasons.
Why do I bring this up? Because The Kiwi Co. came out with the most gorgeous set to end the summer season with, and it brings us right into a soft witch fall! And crystals just tie all into that.
Look, I have ADHD. It made sense in my head. Go shop!

Many many years ago, I hardly ever re-wore anything on my blog. (Except for the basics, like head/body/skin.) Every post was just full of new things. I don’t really do that anymore because 1, when I came back to blogging, I had very little “new” and quite a lot of old that no longer fit my new body properly. And 2, it’s actually more fun for me to feel at home in my SLife, and that includes using things often that make me happy. But back in 2016, I was challenged to reuse some of the items I loved and do posts without all new releases, but just things I already had. It was a fun challenge, because let’s be real. I think we ALL have things in our inventory that we haven’t even touched. We shop and shop, but when do we use those things? Or we use it once or twice, love it, but that’s it. And it’s not like anything actually deteriorates in our inventory. Maybe we can’t use something anymore because we’ve switched bodies, or it’s no longer our style, but most things can be used again and again.
I’ve worn this hair and these boots in my blog before. But they’re honestly two of my favorite things and I do actually wear them quite a bit. They feel like me. They pair well with other things, too.
So my unofficial challenge to all of you for November is to get some use again out of your favorite items. No one says you have to only wear something once and forget about it. Try again. Pair a loved skirt with a new top. Find your old favorite hair and see if now you have an outfit that works perfectly with it. Go shopping in your own inventory and appreciate what you have!

Happy November, friends! Yes, like a lot of you, I’m a little sad to see the Halloween season go. Do you ever see an item and you know *exactly* the photo you want to do? That was me and this sweater outfit from Sorumin for Satan Inc. Steel Magnolias is one of my favorite movies. I think it has so many quotable moments. But there is one quote that I think about a lot recently. “The only thing that separates us from the animals is our ability to accessorize.”
I was never quite an accessories person. I appreciate people who are. I love seeing people with lots of jewelry and hair ribbons and purses and other random things. I know that the difference between just wearing clothes and styling an outfit pretty much lies in the accessories. But for most of my life (well, lives) I just wear clothes. But recently in SL, I’ve gotten a lot more interested in accessories. If I’m going out shopping, I like holding a purse or a cup. I’m trying to buy more jewelry, although I do wear the same stuff often simply because I forget to take it off. I don’t want to just wear clothes. I want to lean into truly developing my style.
