I’m 15 For A Moment

This has really been a hell of a month. If you don’t follow me on social media – My mom went into the hospital on the 6th. She’s still there. What’s wrong with her? Well heck, what’s NOT wrong at this point? We thought she’d be in there for a week, then move on to assisted living since she can no longer live by herself. But no. More and more keeps popping up that’s wrong. And it stinks. I go to the hospital every single day and stay 5 or 6 hours. I don’t eat while I’m up there usually because the hospital kills my appetite. I barely leave the room because she doesn’t like it when I do. I smile, I answer questions over and over, I talk to doctors and nurses, I make choices that I shouldn’t have to make. I’m tired down to my soul.

But I was looking at things from Anthology this round and I saw this shirt. And for the first time in 2 weeks, I genuinely laughed out loud. It’s silly. It’s kind of juvenile. And it’s exactly what I needed.

Don’t Hide Yourself In Regret

Happy Pride Month, y’all! I’ve been proud to be an ally since I was in high school and some of my friends felt comfortable coming out. I know it couldn’t have been easy for them. After all, we lived in a small Texas town and the possibility of not being accepted was pretty high. But they did it anyway. Surprisingly, no one seemed to care. I think for a lot of us, it just answered questions we had, like “Why doesn’t he like me?” Or for me, the question was usually “Why are we dating but he’s always more excited about going out with the guys?” 🤣

A few years ago, while chatting with people, the term “demisexual” came up. Demisexuals are people who don’t feel sexual attraction unless they’ve formed an emotional bond with someone. I laughed and said that was silly, everyone was like that, right? The response was “Oh. Oh, honey.” Well, heck. 😅 Upon researching it more, I checked a lot of the boxes and suddenly things made a LOT more sense. So, technically, since demisexuality is part of the asexuality spectrum, I guess I am also part of the rainbow, too.

But mostly, I’m going to be an ally. Because that’s what my buddies deserve.

I’ve been busy in SL lately setting up a new house. If you follow me on various social medias, you’ve been witness to how ridiculous this house thing has been for me. What was wrong with my last house? Nothing. It just didn’t feel like home. And I think for some people in SL, home is wherever they are. But I need the feeling.

Unfortunately, the feeling I’m searching for brings up old feelings. I had a very pathetic moment last night while decorating. Kind of wanted to kick my own ass. 😂 But it’s okay. It’s bound to happen from time to time. All I can do is keep breathing and moving forward.

All I Have To Do Is Dream

Back when I was a little baby blogger, we usually received review copies from designers who specifically reached out to us because they read our blogs and liked our work. Now admittedly, there were a LOT less of us back in 2007-2009. It was easier for designers to see who was out there and decide if they liked us enough to want to see if we wouldn’t mind blogging them. Sometimes that’s how we even first heard of a store. They didn’t expect us to have already blogged them 20 times, they just liked what we did. I know it’s different now. But the feeling of a designer reaching out? It was awesome!

I got to have that feeling today when the owner of Opeth reached out to me to ask if I would consider blogging their new Lana hair that will be out at Hair Fair on the 1st. Well, sure! And it came at a great time because the new Cosmos dress by Neve that is out at Uber right now? Perfect match!

I’m a girl on the internet. And as such, I get guys sliding into my DMs on occasion. Most of the time it’s okay and I enjoy the conversation a lot. Other times, they try too hard and it’s kind of gross to me. (I’m a demi. Chatting me up about sex immediately doesn’t get anyone anywhere.) Once in a great while, it just makes me angry. What makes someone think they can just speak to a literal stranger in a way that is very obviously for their benefit and not one ounce of consideration for what I might want? Gives me the ick. Then I have to be angry and mean and slash them with my vicious vicious words.

But hey. Try talking to me anyway. Let’s see which way it goes!

I have to admit, I’m not really much of a morning person. I never really have been, but I did fake it for a while. Now? It’s 50/50 on if you’re going to get a “slightly quiet, less cheerful” me if you talk to me right when I wake up, or if you’re going to get “Oh dear god, who let this demon arise from her slumber” me. 🤣

Coffee usually helps. I still wouldn’t advise talking to me for about an hour after I wake up, though. Just for safety.

I Feel A Sin Comin’ On

I’m a Texas girl. I think everyone knows that by now. So as a Texas girl, I am required by birth to love boots. I can’t help it, it’s simply in my blood. When I was younger, I used to have a pair of blue ropers. (Ropers are wider in the toe and have a shorter leg part as compared to a traditional cowboy boot.) Oh I loved my blue boots. They were kind of a dark slate blue. I’d pair them up with jeans and a cute tank top or t-shirt and hit up the country bars with friends. I was so wild in those boots. I had other boots. Brown, black, lace up, heeled. But those blue boots. Those were my “I’m gonna kiss boys and be a menace” boots.

I don’t really wear boots in my offline life anymore, and I certainly don’t go to country bars. But in SL, I appreciate gorgeous boots. And it’s 50/50 on the menace part.

The Strongest Part Of Me

Today is my dad’s birthday. He would have been 86. It’s the 3rd one without him. I wish I had gotten to spend his last one with him, but it was 2020, and we all know what a complete mess that year was. For the last 2 birthdays, I’ve drank a Coke (his beverage of choice) and watched an episode of an old western. Rawhide, Gunsmoke, Bonanza, he watched those all the time. My mom said he could find an episode of any of those shows any day, any time. I have a Coke. I just… Well, I hope he understands, but I probably will not watch an episode of Rawhide this year. 😂 (I watched Gunsmoke last year, and Bonanza the year before.) But maybe I can find an old western movie on one of the streaming services. I used to buy my dad DVDs for his birthday of old western movies, or war movies. My mom has them now. She uses them for doorstops. 🤣

I miss my dad. But it’s not the constant ache it was before. I’d say time heals all wounds, but mostly time makes it more tolerable.
