Strong Is What We Are

I asked my guy the other night if he would mind letting me be “brainless” for the evening since my brain had basically been on at 100 for the entire day. He’s pretty good at making sure I feel held, so even though it’s not something I would have asked anyone before because letting go of control for even a moment makes me feel like I’m getting hives, I felt like it was safe to do it with him. And I think that’s kind of a beautiful version of love in its own way, you know? Safety. Feeling safe with someone who doesn’t make you feel weird for needing things, even if you can’t really put into words what you need.

Now did I let go completely? No. I’m me and I’m kind of a control freak by nature because that’s how I’ve always protected myself. But I’m learning that it’s okay if I lean sometimes, too. It doesn’t make me less strong. In fact, it kind of makes me more.

Velvet Boheme is still going strong, so make sure you get out there!

That’s Some Kind Of Wonderful

I know very little about landscaping in SL. Yes, even after a babillion years here, my style of “landscaping” is to just throw a lot of trees and flowers on the ground and run. But now I have a partner who is very good at it, so I don’t have to be good at it. Last night we were just chatting and before I knew it, he’d created a new shoreline near the cliffs where our house is. I absolutely love it! And him, too, of course.

If you haven’t been out to Velvet Boheme yet, you really MUST go. It’s the most beautiful event! So so so many gorgeous items out there!

Spring is such a “boho” time of the year for me. Well…autumn is, too. And sometimes summer. Okay, listen, I love the boho chic aesthetic. It speaks to me in the best ways!

So of course I’m thrilled that Velvet Boheme is coming back for another round! If there was ever an “Ali, this event is for you” out there, this is IT. It opens tomorrow, April 4th, and I cannot WAIT!!

I Am Light

I love my Saturdays now. I have the whole day to basically do anything I want, which is usually a whole lot of nothing. It’s kind of beautiful. I think that’s really what I’ve needed for a long time. Time to do nothing. Saturdays are now just for whatever I want, and it’s peaceful knowing that.

Decide What To Be And Go Be It

Is it pumpkin season? Oh, YES. It absolutely is!! I’m not quite sure where my love for pumpkins came from. Or even when it started. If I had to guess, it was when I was very small. We had this ceramic jack o’lantern that my mom only brought out for October. It wasn’t a scary one. It actually had quite a sweet face for a jack o’lantern. It had a little lightbulb inside, and I just remember it smelled amazing. Not like pumpkin spice or anything. I don’t even think it was supposed to smell at all. But I thought it did, and I loved the smell. We’d set it up in October, I’d beg my mom to buy those teeny tiny pumpkins at the grocery store, and there would just be little pumpkins everywhere.

Am I basic in my fall love? Or my love for pumpkins? Maybe. But you know what? In this crazy world, you have to love something. Otherwise, what’s the point?

Speaking of love, have you been out to Velvet Boheme yet?? It’s SO good! I love it!

Happy September, everyone! I hope that your summer was great, and that your fall is even better!

There is a GREAT new event happening right now, and I feel like it was made just for me! (It wasn’t, but let’s pretend that my being a nepo baby carries me just that far.) Velvet Boheme is a two week festival of fashion, decor, art, and music! All boho inspired, which you KNOW is completely my style. And there will be performers out there! In fact, you’ll probably see me out there a few times over the next couple of weeks because some of my favorites are performing!
