It's 7:05pm and Lilly wants to go see her pumpkins that she carved this morning. So I open the door and I see that two of the five pumpkins have their lids off. So I tell Lilly to stay inside and I go out to exam the pumpkins......YEP.... somebody smashed the pumpkins faces. Right then I was so angry! I went back inside to tell Lilly that someone ruined her pumpkins. All she could say was "Why?" I don't think she understood what I meant by ruin. So after I calm down a bit, I look out my window and notice that their are only 4 pumpkins on our porch. At this point I am MAD! I call Clint at work (which I never call Clint at work) he is surprised to hear that it is me. I tell him what has happened, and he tells me to go get the rest of the pumpkins and put them in the garage. At this point, the boys are tried, they want their bottles, Lilly keeps asking me "Who smashed my pumpkin?" So I tell Lilly to stay inside the house and "watch" her brothers. Instead of going through the front door, I use our side door that leads into our garage. I open the garage door that leads out into the driveway, and start walking out. Across the street, I see two young boys, without shirts on, crawling across the neighbors lawn. By this time it 7:30
ish and is dark outside.
All this rage comes out and I yell, "
Are you the two(the word _ _ _ _ head comes to mind but I didn't use it)
boys that smashed my pumpkins! Their reply,
no...we saw some people.....I said,
I think it was you two who smashed themone boy said, "
well we just wanted to roll them", then that is when I notice the smashed pumpkin on the street.
the other boy said "
we are playing army"
I said."
My little girl is inside crying because you two smashed her pumpkins!! (Lilly wasn't really crying) Then I go on to say "
I know where you live, GO home, stay off my property Or I will call the cops".
That's when they ran away.
I turned around to go put my pumpkins inside and I see my neighbor that lives on the east side of our house. He looks at me and Gives me the thumps up.
I am really glad that I didn't use any foul words, because my neighbor heard everything!
So I tell this story because I learned two lessons:
Number 1
Don't leave pumpkins out, UNLESS you want them destroyed
Number 2
Watch what you say you never know who is listening
