So last Friday, (today is now Tuesday), I went out on a job and ended up coming home with severe heat exhaustion. My second heat exhaustion incident last week.
It is the hottest time of the year here, and drinking lots of water, I still over did it.
So that kicked off the mother of all infections.
A small scrape on my leg turned infected. Likely because I was just so so run down.
Saturday night was high fever, nausea, sweats, the whole thing. But the thing is, the skin infected scrape is small, and did not really hurt much.
By Sunday morning I was in really really bad shape. Initially thinking COVID or stomach virus. However not going to go to doc for that circus unless absolutely sure it was the Wuhan Flu and something felt like it was a infection, not viral. There is somehow a different feeling between the two. At least to my perception. Plus no respiratory symptoms.
So I put some antibiotic on the wound and felt a little better.
I took some antibiotic tabs from the vet store emergency supply and felt even better.
So I suffered but less Sunday night. However was sweating so much I think I need a new mattress.
Monday I was able to get a appointment to the dermatologist, and lo and behold, culprit was the skin infection.
However I do not think I would be here today if I did not have those antibiotics to take before I could get into a doctor. It was that bad and that sudden. Saturday I was actually wondering If I was going to wake up the next morning
Point being, something so minor like a a scrape can turn to life threatening in a day. Still not out of the woods, but on the heavy duty meds and the wound has not gotten worse, so there is that. Not feeling bad anymore.
Might be time for you to get your emergency stash as well or updated with some fresh stuff.
Not to substitute for proper med care, rather as something top bridge the gap between getting sick and able to see a doctor.

Glad you were prepped, and glad it's under control.

added- I had a pretty severe heat injury and it took several years to fully recover. This is the first summer I feel "normal" in the everyday heat since the incident.
I found that a cooling vest works well (within limits) to make working in the heat tolerable.
I have both evaporative vests like the Techniche Cool Vest, and a gel pack based one like the Ergodyne Chill-Its® 6260 Lightweight Phase Change Cooling Vest. The TechNiche needs to have airflow, and works best without an overshirt, while the Ergodyne will work under a jacket if that's what you want to wear.
Both have their place and both work.

(you need to be careful, once you have a heat injury, you are more susceptible to re-injury)
