Lotte Korean brand Spam copy is locally 1.31usd a can delivered to the door. Spam is now 2x that cost.
I have been eating from the last batch of Lotte spam copy for the last few months. It is not spam flavor exactly, bit less oily and the chicken texture shows thru. But it is still pretty good. It comes with a plastic lid so you can peel the top metal lid, use half and cap it again. I guess you could use the cans after for storage too,

Sugar is rationed at the supermarket, limited stocks. Still available in the convenience stores. Remember I was snatching up all the sugar in the convenience store recently at nearly half of todays cost just a few months ago.
Brown and washed sugar is more readily available, but it will need to be frozen to keep it from clumping up and becoming hard to use, or converted to a syrup.
Huge demand for recycled plastic now. 65cents USD per kilo. Trying to scratch up funds to build a big consolidation facility. But every time an American investor hears "Philippines" they think call centers, or Duterte, or sex tours. Never mind the thousands of USA brands that are very successful here. It is just "oh I knew a guy who lost his ass there"
Most of the failures show up here with a "oh ill show them how it is done" and have so little knowledge of this place that they could not even tell you how to register a business, or buy nuts and bolts. Then they hire some flunky that puts on a good show, and get hosed.
Philippines is a hard education and only the stubborn survive. Filipinos say amongst themselves that they are hard headed. Something that moderately cute girl on that online chat talking to you from her tin roof hovel shanty will not tell you.
Trust me, I have the hard education to know these things first hand, and hundreds of thousands of dollars spent on my hard education. Which for even the locals this is their entry barrier too, so we are on a even playing field there. Especially the overseas Filipinos who return here, start something and lose their ass, because they got all westernized. It is as much as looking in the mirror to analyze your failures as it is looking outward. Not to mention a healthy dash of luck.
It is not a failure of the Filipino in that respect, it is the failure of the Westerner to discern whom is the trailer trash and who is not. Subtle cultural clues, that white boy will miss when fresh off jumbo jet.
Much as Filipino's see every white guy as rich. When that Louisiana bricklayer shows up here, fresh off the jet, in their Walmart best clothes. They are assumed to be rich and rich people throw their money away, because that is what TV has taught them. So naturally, things happen.
Also not every place here is poor, not everyone lives in a shanty. A trip to Bonifacio Global city will dispel that notion real fast. Yes there are a hell of a lot of poor and low IQ here, but not everyone is. However the brain drain over the decades has sent a lot of the smart abroad, and left the idiot family members living fat off the overseas cash. Which as we see with the USA hood rats sucking up to the food stamp programs, has gotten us generations of hood rats, doin hood rat things. It is a universal human thing.
The great reset seeks to kill off the dumb. It fails to realize that you can not destroy and build back better, you can not eliminate the stupid, or poor because new generations will replace them. the supply of poor and stupid is limitless.
This is because nothing creates poverty. Poverty is the beginning state. It takes zero effort to be poor. It does take a lot of work not to be poor.
