I was an experimental physicist until 1988. After that, I have been working in the ICT accessibility area, which focuses on both technology and humans. My friends and I developed Bilingual Emacspeak, which was a bilingual extension of T.V. Raman's Emacspeak, in 2001. After 2003, I have been interested in Web accessibility. I participated in the W3C WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) Working Group and was a chair of the Japanese WCAG, JIS X 8341-3, WG, as well as being a chair of SIG-UAI (Universal Access to the Internet) of ITRC (Internet Technology Research Committee) and a chair of WAIC (Web Accessibility Infrastructure Committee).

My goal is, as a researcher and university Professor, to use technology to enhance human life.
