“Remember me as one of many who woke up.”
A Contemporary Mystic of the 21st Century
Marc teaches contemplative meditation in the context of contemporary mysticism. His understanding of the mystical life is rooted in years of study, practice, unfoldment, realization, and experience. In the course thereof, he has received the spiritual gifts of discernment and transmission.
His spiritual teaching ministry shifts consciousness meaningfully in a Truth student through the alchemical process of mystical transformation. His work facilitates and synthesizes the mysticism found in the highly respected teachings of Joel S. Goldsmith (The Infinite Way), Abbot Thomas Keating, OCSO, Sri Eknath Easwaran (The Eight Point Program), Sri Ramakrishna (Vedanta), Sri Ramana Maharshi, the Zen Buddhist masters, and the Fillmores (Charles and Myrtle) of Unity, among others.
The Making of a Mystic
Unhappy and unfortunate home life circumstances, an early disillusionment with his Roman Catholic faith and
upbringing, and the gnawing inconsistencies between religious teachings and the harsh realities of human life, drove Marc to embark on a personal search for truth and meaning in life at an early age. He felt his religious beliefs failed him during times of dire spiritual need as a young boy. By the time he was in high school, he had become a hardened skeptic. In his college years, he resolved to find the answers to life’s most profound and perplexing questions.
Graduating with A.B. and Ll.B. degrees, he pursued his search for truth with vigor and determination. His search brought him to many far-ranging areas of philosophical, psychological and esoteric study that included the pursuit of the occult sciences and arts, psychodynamics, teachings of the metaphysical and New Thought movements, theosophy and other so-called wisdom or mystery school teachings, the human potential movement, transactional analysis, motivational success, prosperity and mind control programs, various New Age teachings, ESP, hypnosis, past life regressions, explorations into psychic phenomena, alchemy, etc. He moved from one spiritual teaching to another, but they somehow failed to provide the complete and satisfactory answers to the truly important questions he was asking life.
- It was in The Infinite Way that he eventually found the answers.
Planting the Seeds of Mysticism
In the course of his search, Marc was introduced to the mystical path of life in the 1970s: He was divinely led to The Infinite Way message and teachings of Joel S. Goldsmith, a modern-day mystic from the last century. It was in The Infinite Way that he eventually found the answers, and he quickly immersed himself in its mysticism and its Truth teachings.
Over the following years he developed and nurtured a contemplative practice based on its principles. After several years of serious, deep study and intense practice, much to his wonder and amazement he began to have the mystical experiences anticipated in The Infinite Way message, during the early 1980s. His mystical experiences validated its teachings and opened up the dormant soul faculties of discernment and prophecy in him.
The Road Not Taken
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
— Robert Frost —
From then on, he knew that his search for truth and meaning had reached its end, but his inward spiritual journey had just begun. He became convinced that the mystical life is true spirituality and the inner journey along the mystical path is the way to live that spirituality.
Flowering of the Mystical Life
He persisted with his mystical studies and meditation practice. He branched out to the mysticism of other spiritual systems and explored various religious cultures so that he could discover for himself the universality, commonality and validity of the Truth teaching in all of them. Since then, he has undergone a series of major shifts in consciousness resulting in his profound spiritual understanding of the unitive, healing message common to all true mystical teachings.
His goal is to present contemporary mysticism
as the necessary next step in the evolution or unfoldment of consciousness . . . as the true spirituality of the 21st century.
as the necessary next step in the evolution or unfoldment of consciousness . . . as the true spirituality of the 21st century.
Responding to the inner calling of the Spirit, Marc began his spiritual teaching activities in the later part of the 1980s largely with the formation of study-meditation groups.

The momentous crossroad signs at
the defining point along life’s journey.
The human world of material sense is the easy way
where most people come from and keep returning to.
The Mystical Path is the road less traveled in life.
Few there be who take the road less traveled.
When teaching the mystical life and the spiritual journey, Marc taps into the richness of the Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim (Sufi), Jewish, and other mystical traditions. He fully integrates into his teaching his synthesis of the spiritual systems of the major world religions, the perennial philosophy of the mystery schools, the metaphysics and the metapsychology underlying both the human condition and the mystical life, and the corroborative findings of modern science. His goal is to present contemporary mysticism as the necessary next step in the evolution or unfoldment of consciousness, independent of any religious setting or affiliation, and as the only true and final solution/healing to the ills that plague humanity in a global postmodern world — in other words, to present contemporary mysticism as the true spirituality of the 21st century.
The Vision Unfolding
Today, Marc facilitates the mystical teachings under the style of Contemplative Pathways, enabling others to embark on the spiritual journey by learning the Truth teaching and by living the contemplative life. He conducted regular classes and talks on contemporary mysticism and the mystical life and facilitated weekly spiritual contemplation meetings for over fifteen (15) years at the Unity Spiritual Center of San Francisco previously, including less structured S.F. Bay Area venues in a classroom, lecture, workshop, mentoring or other instructional setting. At present, he holds a class on Contemporary Mysticism & The Art of Spiritual Contemplation at Tacoma, Washington for Unity of South Sound.
His methodology . . . is divinely inspired . . . firmly rooted in pure, authentic mysticism.
His methodology of instruction is divinely inspired and firmly rooted in pure, authentic mysticism. His approach to the mystical life is essentially nondenominational, nonsectarian, culturally interfaith, spiritually transreligious, and definitively unitive and nondualistic. His other contributions to worldwide spiritual awakening and the global contemplative movement include spiritual mentoring and spiritual healing practice.
Within the context of the great shift in consciousness now occurring all over the planet, Marc’s work focuses on individual and collective spiritual transformation and healing through the practice of contemplation or meditation, as the vehicle for transcendence and ascension to the higher dimensions of the Spirit. He remains firmly committed to the vision of a global spiritual awakening and the divine promise of humanity’s mystical illumination.

There is a story of a Brahmin who one day found the Buddha under a tree, calmly meditating. The Buddha’s mind was still. He radiated such power and strength that the Brahmin was reminded of a tusker elephant. The Brahmin asked him who he was. The Buddha replied: “Imagine a red lotus that had begun life underwater but grew and rose above the surface until it stood free. So I too have transcended the world, and attained the supreme enlightenment.” “Who are you, then?” the Brahmin wondered. The Buddha said: “Remember me as the one who woke up.”
