He is awake sometimes.
He is wondering what I am doing.
Brooklyn loves her baby brother we always have to stop her from attacking him.
Abigail loves him too.
Wide awake again.
I couldn't get one with his eyes open today.

Past two weeks

The past two weeks have gone fast. Xavier fits right into our family. We have had little jealousy issues from Brooklyn. She only acts up when she wants to be held when I am taking care of Xavier. Or when she wants to go to preschool with Abigail.

The girls wake up every morning and run up to Xavier to make sure that he is still around. They also give him kisses good night. They will help me change diapers, by throwing them away. They actually fight over who gets to throw the diapers away.

Xavier is very very cuddly. If he had his way he would be held all day. The bad thing is, he only usually wants to be held by me. But he cries less when Mike changes his diaper. He still doesn't like his own bed. So I let him sleep with me. I just get to tired in the middle of the night to fight it.

I have lost some weight so far, I hope to lose more. My legs and ankles and feet are back to the normal size. I can't remember the last time that I saw that. I can't wait until I can exercise again. They told me I needed to wait for the whole six weeks before I start doing more than walking. I am slowly getting the house clean again. I will do as much as I can until I hurt and then I will relax. It is so nice getting back into routine. It also passes up time and is less depressing.

Life is good right now.

Maybe that is why it is called labor

Tuesday I went to the doctor and he told me he was going to induce me the next day. He checked my cervix and I was dilated to a 2. So I thought he would come fast boy was I wrong...

We got to the hospital about 7 in the morning. The hooked the monitor up to me right away, when one of the machines she needed to use wasn't working so she had to switch it. By this time Xavier had moved and the monitor wasn't picking him up anymore. She finally gets the right part and another nurse came in to start the iv. The first hole that she poked in me didn't work so she had to poke another hole. Which it finally worked. They tried to start the pitosin but the machine wouldn't work. So she had to go find another one of those. She finally got be set up and we thought we were well on our way. The contractions were coming so it was good.

About 11 and when they had turned the pitosin all the way up the contractions had started to die down. But I was having lower back pain so I decided to get the epidural. They give me the epidural and had me sitting up a little. That is when the nurse noticed my iv wasn't working right. I was glad she was still in the room, because I started to get light headed everything was turning black and I just wanted to fall over. She had me lay completely down, they said my bp was 88/50 so they kept adding this medicine to the iv. My bp finally went up but I still laid there for awhile. We then noticed why my iv wasn't working it was leaking really bad by my hand. So she had to fix that. She checked me again and I was still at a 2 maybe a 3 by this time.

I rested on and off through out the day. My doctor came and broke my water about 3 or 4 in the afternoon I can't remember. About 5 they came and checked me again I was still a 3 so I was not progressing. That is when my head started to pound really bad and I became very nauseated. The next thing I knew I was throwing up. I had only ice chips and a little bit of juice in my system at them time. So needless to say it was not a fun experience. Mike was a good guy and stood by me and held my hair out of the way. He then helped my clean up.

At 6 I got a new nurse. She checked me and I was still at a 4. So it was just a waiting game. I just kept trying to relax and contract. I met the on call doctor after that and he said we were going really slow and we agreed. He said we would see how things go, the baby was healthy so they upped the pitosin to see if we could get the contractions going. About 9 they checked me again and I was still only at a 4 I was getting so tired and frustrated. The on call Dr came in at that time and said we might have to go another direction and talked to us about doing a c-section. I said lets give it one hour and we will see how I am doing.

An hour went by slowly my head had started to pound again and the contractions were slowing down again. They came in about 10 and I still hadn't dilated much more so we decided to go with the c-section. I was just so worn out by this time. They came in and prepped me, and gave Mike a suit to wear. The anesthesiologist came in and since it had been forever since my epidural told me that we would have to do a spinal tap. I said that would be fine. I had to sign papers and then we were off.

When I got into the room I was able to climb on the bed on my own. They all said it is good I was going to do the spinal tap. They put that in and by time it was time to lay down I couldn't move or fell my lower body. They all got set up and had Mike come in. All I felt was people touching me even though they were using sharp tools. The nurse behind my head said when they pull the baby out that it will feel like an elephant sitting on my chest and sure enough that is what it felt like. They said what a great looking boy. They also said the cord was wrapped around his shoulder. I couldn't see him or hear him and they said he was crying. Mike went and took pictures of him. He weight 7.8 pounds and was 19 inches long. When he was cleaned up they brought him over so I could see him and as soon as he was by me he calmed down and was just looking at me. He was so precious. They then took him down for his bath, while I got stitched and cleaned up. Mike went with him. The doctors told me it was good we did the c-section.

It felt like forever being stitched and cleaned up. They had to move me over to my new bed and that felt weird. I got to the labor room and Mike came back and told me Xavier was breathing on his own, but they had to put him in a machine to open his lungs. Plus his bp was low and blood sugar was low. We waited in the labor room for about an hour before they took us to the recovery room. After we got settled down her they gave me some pain pills. Then Xavier came in. I fed him a little bit and then he was done. He fell asleep on my chest for 3 hours. They then had to take them nico because his bp was low and blood sugar level was low. I had to go down every 3 hours to feed him. Luckily he is out now and sleeping in my arms.

We will probably go home Sunday.

December Activities

December was a busy month. Well as busy as it can be when the mom is taking it easy. Abigail was so excited for Christmas since we put the tree up. We made cookies this year, and let Abigail help decorate them. She either put on tons of frosting on them or hardly any. So we just pushed them together to eat them.
The cookies we made.
Frosting the cookies
I cleaned out the closet and got rid of shoes. Brooklyn decided to dress up. (this was the day before I got told to take it easy. So I still have tons more organizing to do.)
One day Abigail started yelling I am stuck. So I went into her room and this is what I found. She thought that she was funny. It was hard to get her out though.
Girls getting ready to go to Grandma's house. Brooklyn wanted to sit in her high chair.
Hanging out with their uncle Curtis (who is my twin) They really liked him. My grandma is sitting in the background.
We got snow and a lot of it. Mike was nice enough to take the girls outside. He taught Abigail how to throw snow balls. Which she calls "snowing balls"
Brooklyn only likes walking on the sidewalk.
She only went in the snow when Mike made her and then went to him and didn't want him to put her down.
Abigail got her first hair cut. She had a mullet and no longer does it turned out really cute.
The front.
The back.
The girls went to the dentist and got sunglasses.
Abigail doesn't smile with them on.
Girls opening their pajamas on Christmas eve.
Brooklyn was so excited for hers.
Abigail wearing her new pajamas.
Abigail in her pajamas. Sorry about it being blurry. ( I didn't take it)
Both girls showing off pajama's right before bedtime.
Brooklyn's new phone. Which Abigail plays with it more.
Abigail's new pot and pans. The number one of the things she asked for.
Brooklyn's new doll came with a cow that moos.
Abigail's food that she wanted. Christmas was overall good. We opened our presents and ate breakfast. After that we went to my parents house for the day and ate lunch and opened more presents which I forgot my camera. The girls were spoiled. That night we just came home and relaxed. Which was nice because I was really tired by then.
Abigail wanted to help Mike with the laundry so she climbed in to empty the dryer.
Update on me. I am still being told to take it easy. It has made it so my bp stays under control. I had blood taken twice and the platelets are still going down, but still not in a danger zone. My feet are now swollen all the time. They got down a little when I sleep at night. Doctor said that it is good that I am taking it easy because that means the baby will be healthier when he comes. I am hoping that I will be able to have him soon though. Mike starts school again this week and will be gone about 13 hours a day. So it will be harder to take it easy. But we will see.
