This month has brought quite a few changes to our little home. Two of the biggest changes are: Hannalyn sleeping in her own room and Hannalyn being somewhat mobile. At the beginning of the month, we moved Hannalyn into her crib. The first couple nights she woke up once in the night, but went right back to sleep after being resettled and now she is back to sleeping through the night. She is a champ. I'm curious if she can crawl better than she realizes because I start her on the 'bottom' of her crib and she wakes up at the 'top' of her crib. Hmmm. Fun stuff, right? Also, she rolls all over the place. She does an amazing job. It is so much fun to see. For example, in the photo below, I'd been teaching a lesson and sitting on the piano bench. She was under her toy (left in the photo) and when I turned to check on her, she was right behind the bench. At first I thought I'd lost her until I looked down. Love it!
Hannalyn has been a champ and so patient with her parents being involved in Les Mis. We are at the Western Park five nights a week and she has gotten so good at sleeping in the pack-n-play during the show. I love that she is such a good baby and will go with us and behave.
This year, Hannalyn watched part of the world cup (Brazil vs whoever they were playing) with her uncle Taylor. She is wearing a Brazil flag and got to fly around the house with the flag acting as her cape. She loved it. I have been informed that she also loves to watch Pokemon movies online. I guess now I know what she & her uncle do when they hang out.
This month brought about the introduction of real people food to our little girl. We are doing a mix of "traditional" weaning and "baby-led" weaning. I think that I am too controlling to do only baby-led weaning. I worry about her not getting enough, if any, blah blah blah. Which I know that I shouldn't worry about, but there you are. So I give Hannalyn a little bit of food from off my plate, but I've also blended up some foods for her and spoon-fed. She enjoys both, so I don't feel bad about doing a mix-approach. Hannalyn is a great eater. She especially loves peas, sweet potatoes, & squash. We haven't done fruits really - she has sucked on a piece of peach, but I don't think she actually ingested it. Hannalyn really loves to sit in the high chair and be with the rest of us during meals. She gets the biggest grin on her face and looks so proud of herself. It's great.
The above picture shows how we spend most mornings - sleeping in until ridiculous hours after being up so late with the show every night. But hey, it's fun stuff.
Hannalyn is sitting! She is very very sturdy and can push herself in a little circle so she can face all different directions. She tries so so so hard to crawl, but isn't there yet. Mostly she scoots backward or sideways. She either gets up on her hands or on her knees, but never both together. She can stand with some assistance - meaning hanging on with both hands - for about 20 seconds. Her legs & arms have gotten stronger by leaps and bounds over the last couple of weeks. I have been so impressed with her and what she can do.
At her six month check-up, Hannalyn weighed in at 14 pounds 10 ounces (she was 15 pounds when I weighed her on our scale at home yesterday) and she is 26 and 3/4 inches long. The pediatrician has been so impressed with her - especially concerning the scare she gave us back at the beginning. He says that if he didn't know her, and even knowing her, he would never suspect that she had surgery. Hannalyn is growing right on track and doing all the things that she is supposed to and the pediatrician never has anything but good things to say about her. It makes my mommy heart feel so good.
Hannalyn is full of giggles and smiles and words. She talks to anyone and everyone. She has realized that she can get my attention when I'm walking away by shouting at me. Hannalyn loves being tickled and played with. She frequently blows raspberries and sings along with the students that I teach at home. She plays the piano, claps everything together except her own hands (food, toys, etc), and has started to wave!!! It's wonderful.
I am so grateful to be a mom to this fantastic girl. She has been the most amazing blessing in our lives.
Happy 7 months to our sweet sweet girl. Mommy & Daddy love you SO much.
