the meg

No, no. Not the shark movie. My littlest youngest sister.

Today she turns 17. SEVENTEEN. Either way you say it, it makes me feel old. I won't tell you how much older I am than she is, but I never feel my age so much as when it is her birthday.

This youngest sister of mine (she's no longer the littlest) is quite a thing to behold. She is a firecracker through and through with a scary calm that encases the exploding interior. She is brave and bold. She is a rare talent and beauty. She has grown up a lot in the last 5 years - heck, looking at our wedding pictures 7 years ago, you can hardly recognize her! But not only has she grown up physically, but spiritually and mentally. It's an incredible transformation.

This girl. She's going to change the world. <3

Happy birthday!

catch up

Since apparently I let June go by without posting anything yet (though I have had SO many moments where I sincerely wanted to, and even thought out what I would say), here is a quick catch-up post to get us back on the same page:

-my dad had a birthday. yay!
-we went & saw Avengers (was that really not forever ago? that feels like forever ago)
-the VT:L had its first Master Class which was a huge success! two of my teachers from high school came and shared their brilliance. it was magnificent.
-we got flooring installed on our stairs, in the guest room, and in the hallway downstairs.
-before and after which flooring installation we have been working hard to get the basement (mostly) finished. the guest room is done. the bathroom needs to be finished painted and the entryway is still exposed 2x4s BUT we've made lots of progress and so i feel good about that. we just need to finish the bathroom by Thursday evening before we go on our trip, so prayers for motivation would be helpful. ;)
-we went to SLC for a half-day to see my sister L be amazing in 'Crazy for You' at Centerpoint Theatre. Seriously, so much fun!
-we had our summer workshop at the theatre that lasted all day, every day for a week. loved that - the kids were great. and i was pooped at the end of the week.
-we dug a hole for the tramp in our backyard, which also discovering that somewhere lurking in the weeds in a rattlesnake. so we haven't played on the tramp, but there is a hole now. ... yup.
-this week started TaVaci's summer clinic for two days this week and two next with a performance in the parade on the 4th of July. always a fun time (if people would be responsible and take care of getting registered on time! bah). it'll be fun.

and, yes, this weekend, Daniel, Hannalyn & I are going to be leaving Vernal for more than 24 hours for the first time since his grandma's funeral (3.5 years ago for a 48-hour trip) and since we last went to Texas (4 years ago for a week). Other than these two trips, we have not left Vernal for more than a whole day since we moved back in 2013 right before Hannalyn was born. We're only going to St. George and we're only going for 3 days and 2 nights but we are ECSTATIC.

as part of that trip, we plan to see two shows at Tuacahn (Matilda & Cinderella), after we see two shows this week at the Outlaw Trail (which we didn't participate in this year). So 4 shows in one week plus one a week and half ago - we're still getting our theatre in! Haha.

That's it! That's June. I'll probably be back in July. ;)
