We are delighted to share that Dr. Jonas Haug will join Allianz Reinsurance as Global Head of Group Ceded Reinsurance, effective July 1, 2026, succeeding Sang Hun Park.   Jonas brings more than 15 years of international experience across the reinsurance and management consulting sectors. He has a proven record in structuring complex reinsurance programs, leading international teams, and driving strategic transformation. At Munich Re, Jonas was responsible for one of the company’s largest global client relationships and steered Business Development for Large Single Risk across London and Munich.   In his new role at Allianz, Jonas will lead the Group Ceded Reinsurance team and drive the development of our reinsurance strategy in line with the Group’s risk profile. Allianz Jio Re Limited Commences Underwriting Reinsurance Immediately in India We are pleased to share that Allianz Group and Jio Financial Services Limited (JFSL) have received regulatory approval from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India for our reinsurance joint venture, Allianz Jio Re. We are now able to underwrite reinsurance in India, effective immediately, across all lines of business, life and non-life, treaty and facultative. Headquartered in Mumbai, Allianz Jio Re aims to become a strategic long-term partner for the Indian market with a mission to fortify the resilience of the country’s insurance ecosystem and fuel its sustainable growth. The reinsurance JV will be led by Sonia Rawal as Chief Executive Officer of Allianz Jio Re, who will join from Allianz Reinsurance in Singapore, where she is currently responsible for India and ASEAN markets.  “With Sonia leading this business, joined by several other colleagues from Allianz, we will have a very strong team of experts with local market knowledge from day one. I am also very much looking forward to being part of this and working with the team under Sonia’s leadership, our joint venture partner and our Indian clients”, said Holger Tewes-Kampelmann, CEO of Allianz Re and member of the Board of Directors at Allianz Jio Re. Allianz Re’s clients in India will benefit from the combination of JFSL’s deep local expertise and robust digital footprint with Allianz’s strong underwriting and global reinsurance capabilities in the joint venture. We assure clients of uninterrupted service, continuity of coverage and consistent relationship management, as the existing facultative reinsurance portfolio from Allianz Commercial / Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) will be transitioned to Allianz Jio Re in a phased manner, ensuring a smooth experience for our customers. This will complement the offer with global underwriting expertise from Allianz Group for facultative reinsurance. 🌟 Insights from The Art and Practice of Catastrophe Modelling Seminar 🌟   On January 28th, industry professionals gathered for an insightful Nat Cat Modelling seminar, co-hosted by the Singapore Reinsurers’ Association (SRA) and Swiss Re.   The seminar featured a thought-provoking panel session moderated by Grace Lim, Head of Underwriting at Allianz Re, where experts shared their valuable perspectives on key topics shaping catastrophe modelling in the APAC region.   Reflecting on the seminar, Grace shared: "This session provided an excellent opportunity for underwriters to deepen their understanding of the available models in the APAC markets and the key underwriting considerations when utilizing catastrophe models. I look forward to continued discussions with the underwriting community to further enhance our practices."   Alongside Grace, two other distinguished speakers enriched the seminar with their insights, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing among industry peers.   A big thank you to SRA, Swiss Re, the speakers, panelists, and all participants for making this seminar a success. Leadership Transition at Allianz Reinsurance Branch Asia Pacific   We are pleased to announce a leadership change at Allianz Reinsurance Branch Asia Pacific (ARAP), effective 1st January 2026. After 12 years of dedicated service, Kenrick Law will be stepping down from his role as Regional CEO and Head of P&C Client Management. Kenrick's visionary leadership and commitment have been instrumental in driving the success and growth of our reinsurance business in Singapore and the broader Asia Pacific region. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Kenrick for his exceptional contributions and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.   Succeeding Kenrick, Anna Kohls has been appointed as the new Regional CEO and Head of P&C Client Management, subject to approval by the Monetary Authority of Singapore. Anna will oversee operations in Singapore and lead our Third-Party P&C business across the Asia Pacific region. We are confident that her expertise and leadership will continue to propel ARAP to new heights.
