    What an inspiring start to ICORS 2026 in Istanbul yesterday! 🇹🇷 From the opening plan from the origins of TERS 20 years ago to the discussions outside the lecture hall at the mixer, the energy around the latest ideas in Raman spectroscopy is definitely resonating with me. I’m excited to share what we’ve been working on during today’s poster session. If you’re at the venue today, drop by my poster #537 this afternoon.     The hardest part of presenting at ICORS isn't the research—it's navigating Schiphol without knocking anyone over with my poster tube. 🏹 Currently refueling at AMS before taking off for Istanbul. I will be showing Coher Sense‘s latest RnD results of ultra-high resolution Raman spectroscopy using our KISA optics concepts to enable ultra-precise, accurate and fast insights into matter interactions.     Always a pleasure to host fellow scientists from Coher Sense who share a genuine passion for pushing the boundaries of optical measurement. Having Oliver Lischtschenko and our own Dominik S. in the lab last week was a brilliant reminder of why open collaboration is so vital to the photonics sector. OpTecBB here in the Berlin capitol region is a true testament to that approach. When ambitious start-ups approach us with challenges that push the absolute limits of current sensor capabilities, we are only too happy to open our doors and make high-resolution spectrometers like our DEMON 2 available. It is inspiring to see brave early-stage companies testing bold concepts and doing the deep technical work required to bring next-generation instruments to market. True innovation in precision engineering rarely happens in isolation, and supporting the broader community ultimately advances the entire field.     Last week Oliver traded the boss hat for the lab rat outfit. 🐀🧑🔬🌈 Sometimes the best place for a founder isn't behind a desk, but in front of an optical setup, spending the entire day measuring, questioning, and learning. A huge thank you to Dominik S. and Christian Scholz at LTB Lasertechnik Berlin GmbH for opening their facility to us and making one of their DEMON 2 Double Echelle ultra-high-resolution spectrometers available for testing our latest optical concepts. Our current KISA sensors already achieve around 1 pm (≈1 GHz) wavelength resolution. But one customer challenge pushed us far beyond the capabilities of our own measurement infrastructure. That was the moment we knew it was time to ask for help. The question was ambitious: Can we improve by another three orders of magnitude while preserving everything that makes KISA... KISA? Compact. Low power. Low cost. Environmentally stable. We often say that measuring lasers should become simpler. Ironically, making it simpler requires understanding them at an entirely new level first. As engineers, we're trained to solve problems ourselves. But sometimes the smartest engineering decision is knowing when someone else has exactly the tool you need. Luckily, our friends at LTB said yes. Last Thursday wasn't just another measurement day. It reminded us why we enjoy working in photonics so much. People share ideas. People share equipment. People genuinely want each other to succeed. One lesson worth remembering: Build your network before you need it. Be kind. Help others. And never be afraid to ask. The photonics community continues to amaze us with its openness, expertise, and collaborative spirit, and we are incredibly grateful to be part of it. Our latest concept is still just that—a concept. But thanks to days like last Thursday, it's one step closer to becoming a product. Science advances through measurements. Innovation advances through people. Thank you, LTB.     What a day at Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt, PTB Berlin! 🚀 When you get the chance to test your hardware at Germany’s national metrology institute, you don't hesitate. To be honest, we were absolutely thrilled to just be considered for this—and incredibly excited to "mess with the best." (And let’s be real, we stood our ground... barely! 😉) A massive thank you to Anne and Victor for opening up your labs today and putting our KISA sensors to the ultimate test. Your hospitality, expertise, and unmatched testing environment made for an unforgettable visit. While we are still diving deep into the data, the initial results have left us incredibly proud: - Exceeding Expectations: The electronics designed by our student, Till Jensen , performed phenomenally. It looks like our official specs might actually be quite conservative! - The Core Focus: While we didn't test every single feature KISA has to offer, we thoroughly vetted our most sought-after capability—and the potential is thrilling. - Keeping Us Grounded: The extensive testing also highlighted areas where we still have work to do. We welcome these insights; they are exactly what we need to keep pushing the boundaries of our technology. A quick visit turned into an afternoon marathon... 🕒 Word apparently spread fast that the AMA Association for Sensors and Measurement Innovation Award and Hamamatsu Photonics Europe Photonics Innovation Award winner was in the house! What was meant to be a standard demo turned into a fantastic four-hour extension as curious minds from around other departments stopped by to talk shop, ask questions, and share ideas. It’s safe to say we left feeling incredibly inspired. 📸 Take a look at the photos below to see: Our KISA sensor installed and working hard in PTB's optical setups (configurable for both fiber-coupled as in the image or free-space use).     Kicking off sensor and test day 2. Following day 1 with winning the AMA innovation award, this show started with a bang for us.
