❄️ The Green Cooling Summit 2026 is a space to move from “what’s missing” to “what’s already working, and how to scale it.” Cooling demand is rising rapidly, driven by global warming and growing incomes. But the shift to climate-friendly refrigerants like R290 is still not happening at the speed required. As many solutions already exist, the Summit will put them front and center. GIZ's managing director Ingrid-Gabriela Hoven and Umweltbundesamt - German Environment Agency 's president Dirk Messner, Prof. Dr. underline exactly this: the transition is possible now if proven solutions are accelerated and implemented globally. Join policymakers, industry and practitioners on this event, hosted by Umweltbundesamt - German Environment Agency and GIZ on behalf of Bundesministerium für Umwelt, Klimaschutz, Naturschutz und nukleare Sicherheit (BMUKN)) and Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ). Policy. Markets. Technology. What if the next global health tech giants are emerging not in Silicon Valley — but in Africa and other emerging markets? At re:publica #rp26, the panel “The next health tech giants won’t come from Silicon Valley” explores how digital health innovation is scaling where healthcare challenges are most urgent. Joining the conversation: • Anna Sophie Herken, Managing Director GIZ • Axel Deniz, CEO @Bosch Business Innovations • Abimbola Adebakin M.CIoD, Founder & CEO Advantage Health Africa (Aha!) Moderated by journalist and host Christine Mhundwa. Advantage Health Africa (Aha!) is building a digital healthcare ecosystem in Nigeria, connecting patients, pharmacies and healthcare providers through digital platforms to improve access to medicines and healthcare services, especially in underserved communities. 💵 🌍 The future of global finance is digital. New technologies are reshaping financial infrastructure, payments, and services. This transformation offers new pathways to global sustainable development and opportunities for sustainable economic growth. How may low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) benefit from this? How can digital innovation contribute to financial inclusion and economic resilience? 🤝 We have cooperated with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Laboratory for Economic Analysis and Design (MIT LEAD) and Maiden Labs to find out. Together with partner central banks, we have analysed and tested how digital financial infrastructure may support sustainable development and how LMICs can be part of the technological turn. Our report presents results from this practice-oriented work and shows that many LMICs are well positioned to shape digital financial solutions. What is needed to realise this potential and make them part of the technological change? Find out more in our study “Designing a Sustainable Future: LMIC Leadership in Digital Financial Development”.👇 #DigitalFinance #FinancialInclusion #DigitalDevelopment

Small businesses can achieve big impact – with the right support to grow sustainably. 🐑 In Kenya’s highlands, sheep farmers once struggled to earn money from wool. Today, the youth-led cooperative Njabini Wool Crafters turns wool into income, creating jobs and protecting grasslands at the same time. The project has already reached 1,800+ smallholder farmers and helped revitalise the wool value chain. 🤝 With the support from our Agri-Business Facility for Africa – co-funded by the European Union and Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ) – farmers improve sheep breeding, learn sustainable grazing and produce high-quality wool products. This creates income opportunities for women and youth alike. Find out how biodiversity is benefiting, too. 👇 https://lnkd.in/ejCVhquG GIZ Kenya #Sustainability

🛳️ When we talk about disruptions in global trade, we often think of wars or major crises. But many delays are caused by something less visible: paperwork. Before goods can move, documents must be completed, checked, approved, and shared – often still manually. The result: shipments can sit at borders for days, affecting spare parts, medicines, and food supplies. That’s why we work with governments and the private sector to cut red tape at borders – making procedures faster, more transparent, and more reliable. As an implementation partner of the Global Alliance for Trade Facilitation, co-funded by Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ), the European Union, Canada and Sweden, we help streamline trade processes and reduce complexity in customs procedures. As a consequence, ➡️ public authorities save time and resources while safeguarding borders, ➡️ businesses benefit from clearer, more predictable processes, and ➡️ consumers gain better availability of goods – often at lower costs. The Global Alliance marks its 10-year anniversary with its Annual Report, bringing together insights from across the world and showing how reforms and practical digital solutions can deliver real impact. Find out how we contribute to making cross-border trade not only more efficient and cost-effective but also safer and greener. 🌍 The dynamics are clear: while G20 countries account for the majority of today's transport-sector GHG emissions, Africa is the continent with the highest growth rates – making it a critical voice in the global conversation. That’s why, during South Africa’s G20 Presidency, we partnered with Agora Verkehrswende to bring Africa’s perspective more strongly into the G20 transport debate. Together, we aim to strengthen the role of sustainable, inclusive transport systems in African debates – and highlight the continent’s importance in the G20 discussion. Our study “Towards Decarbonising Transport 2026“ includes a dedicated spotlight on Africa. Find out how people-centred mobility solutions can drive sustainable development across the continent. 👇 Changing Transport Insights Daniel Bongardt Marion Vieweg Naville Geiriseb Linda Cáceres Leal Maria Belén Vásquez #SustainableMobility #ClimateAction

Join us at #GITEXAfrica to shape the future of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Africa! We together with Smart Africa, are launching a new phase of our partnership focused on advancing trustworthy AI - with a clear shift from ambition to implementation. This milestone will take place at the AI Stage during GITEX AFRICA Morocco in Marrakech, where our Managing Director Anna Sophie Herken and Smart Africa´s CEO Lacina Koné will talk about: “Shaping Global AI Governance: Africa’s Role in International Standards and Norms”. The conversation will explore how global AI frameworks can better reflect African realities, the role of African institutions in shaping international standards, and how to balance AI-driven innovation with economic growth. 💡 Want to do a deeper dive into the topic? Across the continent, momentum is building: more than 15 African countries have already adopted national AI strategies, with many more currently developing their own frameworks and beginning to shift toward implementation. At the same time, significant gaps remain. Africa still represents only a small share of the global AI research community. This underlines the urgency of strengthening local talent pipelines, infrastructure, and collaboration. Initiatives such as the Africa AI Declaration highlight a shared ambition to build sovereign AI capabilities, deepen public-private collaboration, and mobilize large-scale investment — including plans to unlock up to $60 billion to support AI development across the continent. Trustworthy AI won’t emerge in isolation. It will be shaped through partnerships, with Africa at the center.

Non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure are also rising sharply in Ghana, presenting the healthcare system with new challenges. The country is responding with the AYA platform: it rethinks healthcare – not as a single tool, but as an interplay of technology, system development, government support and local innovation. This transforms digital approaches into real, scalable healthcare. We’re delighted to support this. Take a look ⬇️
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐟 𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐨𝐧-𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐬 (𝐍𝐂𝐃𝐬) 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 – 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝, 𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦-𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧? That’s exactly what the AYA Integrated Healthcare Initiative is enabling. With the launch of our new website, it’s now easier to see how this works in practice. AYA is a multi-partner platform that brings together public, private, and philanthropic actors to strengthen prevention, early detection, and management of NCDs – moving beyond isolated interventions toward integrated, scalable solutions across the health system. Developed in partnership with the Ministry Of Health, Ghana and the Ghana Health Service, AYA’s modular approach allows partners to contribute to existing modules or co-develop new ones – fully aligned with national health priorities. 👉 Explore how the model works: https://lnkd.in/gbnDHp33 👉 Get involved: contact@ayahealthinitiative.com Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH GIZ Ghana Ministry Of Health, Ghana Ghana Health Service Bayer Panorama Global Sanofi Gates Foundation #HealthForAll #GlobalHealth #UniversalHealthCoverage #Ghana #NCDs Juliette Edzeame, PMP Fionn Harnischfeger Malin A.
