A resilient and independent energy supply is more important than ever for Europe and hydrogen plays a key role in enabling flexibility, decarbonization and system stability. Our EVP Customer Operations Dr. Nima Pegemanyfar shared his perspective on what it takes to unlock the full potential of hydrogen in this after-work read. 👇 #greenhydrogen #questone #energysecurity
The current situation on the global energy markets shows how important a robust, independent and resilient energy supply is for Germany and Europe. This is precisely why it is worth taking a look at technologies that can ensure resilience, predictability and innovative strength. One central building block is the consistent development of a domestic hydrogen economy. Hydrogen is the flexibility platform between electricity, heat and industry. Electrolysers couple electricity markets with molecular requirements and enable load shifting and grid-friendly operation with high proportions of renewables, the storage of surplus electricity as H₂ for later use, and the decarbonisation of processes that are difficult to electrify. In an expert interview with EEHH, Dr. Nima Pegemanyfar, Executive Vice President Customer Operations at Quest One, shares his opinion on what is now needed to activate the full potential of hydrogen. https://lnkd.in/dXpbEg2n 📸Quest One

𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗳𝗮𝗻: 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗲𝗴𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘁𝘁-𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗶𝘀 When Stefan Marquardt first encountered PEM electrolysis, it wasn’t a buzzword yet. Back in 2019, the energy transition was clearly underway, but large-scale electrolysis was still an emerging field. Recognizing early on that PEM electrolysis would become a cornerstone for long-term energy storage, he decided to help shape this technology from the inside. Today, as Team Lead Power Electronics, he is responsible for one of the most critical aspects of PEM electrolyzers: ensuring that massive amounts of electrical energy are delivered safely, efficiently, and reliably to the stack. His work spans the full spectrum from electrical system architecture and grid integration to megawatt-scale rectifier technology. But the real impact lies in connecting the dots by aligning internal interfaces, anticipating market and certification requirements, qualifying engineers for future challenges, and working closely with suppliers. By contributing his expertise to the founding and ongoing work of the electrical safety standards committee for water electrolyzers, he helps shape national norms with a clear path toward international standards. What drives him most is finding solutions that have no blueprint yet, technologies where rules are still being written and infrastructure that doesn’t exist - until teams like his make it real. You can find more information on his white paper about grid-oriented operation here: https://lnkd.in/d7Sixszf #Workculture #PowerElectronics #QuestOne

𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 ‘𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗲’: 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹𝘆𝘇𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 With Helene, we are taking an important step forward in scaling our serial production of electrolysis stacks. The new system enables the conditioning of up to twenty stacks simultaneously and is fully integrated into our production workflow. All water connections are made automatically, and comprehensive process data is collected throughout the multi‑day conditioning cycle. This significantly reduces manual handling by around 80% and improves overall ergonomics for the team. The new system represents a key technological development in our manufacturing landscape and helps us further industrialize the production of high‑performance electrolyser stacks in Europe. Helene continues our naming tradition, taking inspiration from Saturn’s moons. #Hydrogen #Innovation #CleanTech

𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 Since June 2024, our new stacking system 𝘎𝘦𝘳𝘥 has been supporting one of our key production steps and elevating it to a new level. What was once a manual task is now performed by two perfectly synchronized KUKA robots — precise, repeatable, and highly reliable. With camera‑guided positioning and vacuum‑based handling, the robots move material with a level of accuracy that is difficult to achieve manually, resulting in consistently high product quality and a clear technological advancement in our production process. The name 𝘎𝘦𝘳𝘥 was chosen by our team, inspired by one of Saturn’s many moons, and is a playful nod to the fact that the planet itself consists of roughly 95% hydrogen. The introduction of 𝘎𝘦𝘳𝘥 in 2024 marks an important innovation within the PEM electrolysis production landscape, further strengthening the efficiency and consistency of our manufacturing processes. #robotics #hydrogen #productiontechnology

𝗛𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗲 – 𝗠𝗘𝟰𝟱𝟬 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗩𝗶𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗯𝘆 With the delivery of our ME450 to Euromekanik AB in Vimmerby, we are launching our new series ‘Hydrogen on the Move.’ In this series, we showcase how our systems make their way into real world application. Starting with a distinct project in Sweden, where neither temperatures around –7 °C, 30 cm of fresh snow overnight, nor a demanding transport route including a ferry crossing, hindered the safe and precise set up of the ME450 at its new location. With the installation complete, another important step has been taken toward making green hydrogen available exactly where it’s needed. The system is powered by a dedicated solar power plant, ensuring that the hydrogen is generated from renewable electricity. In addition, the setup allows us to capture and repurpose the waste heat generated during hydrogen production — enabling its integration into the brewery’s processes and supporting more efficient and sustainable beer production. Stay tuned for the next stop in our ‘Hydrogen on the Move’ series. #hydrogenonthemove #greenenergy #electrolyzer

𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹𝘆𝘇𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗼 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁 The construction of our Modular Hydrogen Platform (MHP) demo plant continues to move forward — offering a rare chance to experience the build-up of a large-scale electrolyzer up close. Since mid‑2025, visitors gain an impression of the scale, internal structure, and infrastructure of the system. This transparency is unusual in the hydrogen industry, where large electrolyzers are typically built on customer sites and not accessible. More than half of the key components have already been installed. The next phases include the ventilation and gas exhaust systems, the operator platform and the PEM stack module. The demo plant in Augsburg serves as a crucial platform to further refine performance and operating parameters of the large-scale electrolyzer using in-operation data. By running the system under realistic conditions, we gain insights which directly lead to an optimization of efficiency, reliability, and overall system behavior in industrial environments.
