Sometimes the strongest Davids aren’t people at all, but engines taking on the giants of the sea. In the toughest port environments our mtu tug engines have the ability to deliver instant power, high efficiency and long service life. More than 500 of our mtu engines are in service on tugs worldwide, providing around 1,000 megawatts of power and setting a benchmark for performance. Our Series 4000 M65L engines deliver up to 3,200 kilowatts and reach full power within seconds, enabling rapid acceleration and precise manoeuvring with up to 90 tonnes of bollard pull. With a service life of up to 25 years without major overhaul these powerhouses help operators reduce lifecycle costs and maximise vessel availability. "Thanks to their high performance, efficiency and reliability, mtu engines support the productivity of shipping companies that are grappling with rising cost pressures, stricter emissions and efficiency regulations, and high demands on availability and operational reliability,” explained Andreas Görtz, our President of the Mobile & Sustainable Business Unit. With approvals for HVO, e diesel and ongoing work on green methanol, we are shaping the future of sustainable tug propulsion from hybrid systems in Shanghai to leading fleets in Turkey, Europe and beyond. • 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗮! Last month, we broke ground on yet another expansion of our Aiken campus in South Carolina! Continuing with our growth plan, we will soon see a new 60,000 sq ft. high-tech machining center emerge where there is currently a blank slate of land.   With this latest addition, we are bringing crankcase machining for our 𝙢𝙩𝙪 Series 4000 engines to the U.S. for the first time. Beginning next year, we’ll be able to significantly reduce finished crankcase imports, even as we ramp up production to serve the rapidly growing U.S. data center market.  • $75M investment  • 60 new jobs   It’s not just a sign of growth, it’s a sign of pride and commitment to building local-for-local, investing in people, products and capabilities that secure critical infrastructure. This is how we are strengthening the long term future of our Friedrichshafen development hub: With a major investment in three new state of the art single cylinder test benches, we are expanding our capabilities and creating the foundation for tomorrow’s propulsion technologies. This project is a clear commitment to Friedrichshafen and to our ambition to drive innovation forward. The new systems bring together high automation, precise measurement technology, integrated safety features and energy recovering electric machines that help us reduce CO2 emissions at the site by around five percent. Even more importantly, the test benches are designed to be technology neutral from the start, enabling us to work on everything from advanced diesel concepts to future fuels such as methanol. Single cylinder test benches are essential tools in engine development, supporting us from the first idea to series production in both civil and defense applications. This investment strengthens our role as an innovation center and makes our Friedrichshafen site even more future ready. • This time the story starts not with a mtu engine, but with an aircraft turbine - the Trent 1000 TEN - and with the energy that comes from teams stepping across technologies when it matters. When Civil Aerospace needed short‑term leadership for the Trent 1000 TEN MRO line in Dahlewitz, we moved fast and with purpose. With Joern Lindstaedt, our Head of Global Service, bringing ten years of Dahlewitz experience and strong aircraft engine MRO expertise, we covered the leadership gap through February and March, keeping momentum high on Q1 engine deliveries and capability development. It’s a powerful example of cross‑divisional support: Power Systems mobilising for Civil Aerospace and showing what it means to act as OneRolls‑Royce. And every time we do, both sides come back stronger.

  • We are pleased to strengthen our long-standing partnership with Alpha Trains through a new framework agreement covering around 700 overhauls of mtu PowerPacks. Together, we are ensuring high availability, planning reliability and cost‑efficient operation of their Coradia Lint, Talent and Desiro fleets over their entire service life. We are tailoring maintenance schedules to the needs of Alpha Trains Group and its operators, securing long-term component availability and developing technical solutions that prevent premature obsolescence. With the introduction of EU ECM 4 certification at our Magdeburg site and ECM 2 to follow by 2026, we are reinforcing our commitment to quality, efficiency and continuous improvement. As Andreas Görtz, President of our Mobile & Sustainable Business Unit, puts it, “Being a long-term and reliable partner for Alpha Trains is essential to us.” And Jörg Hagemeyer, Engineering Director of the Passenger division at Alpha Trains, adds, “Together, we are creating a comprehensive, worry-free package for our customers.” With powerful, compact mtu solutions PowerPacks and a strong service ecosystem, we are jointly enhancing fleet performance and contributing to a more efficient and sustainable rail future in Europe. • Our Rolls‑Royce orchestra and choir transformed the Graf‑Zeppelin-Haus in Friedrichshafen, Germany, into a stage for a “Musical World Tour,” celebrating their anniversary with a benefit concert that blended artistic passion and community spirit. Colleagues who have made music together for decades showcased how deeply culture is rooted in our company. With free admission and strong support for Häfler helfen, the evening highlighted the power of collective engagement. The company contributed an additional 2,000 euros to the local initiative. Under the direction of Reiner Hobe, the ensembles presented a rich, diverse program that resonated with the audience.

  • Great enthusiasm at this year’s Girls’ Day: 40 girls from school years 5 to 9 took the opportunity at our headquarters in Friedrichshafen to experience technical training professions up close. The demand was enormous and all spots were filled within just a few days. Our apprentices guided the participants through the world of electronics, mechatronics, and computer science. The 3D printer and VR headset were particular highlights, giving the girls a hands‑on way to experience technology. As a personal keepsake, they built an illuminated picture frame, complete with a Polaroid photo from the day. A special highlight: our trainer Katharina Kramer, who herself joined the company 24 years ago after participating in Girls’ Day. A powerful example of how lasting early insights into STEM careers can be.
