Double Portugal podium for TGR-WRT after cruel late twist TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Rally Team secured a double podium finish at Rally de Portugal after being denied victory by a cruel twist of fate late in a thrilling and demanding event. Sébastien Ogier had appeared on course for a record-extending victory on the classic gravel contest after a strong performance in challenging wet weather on Saturday afternoon. His advantage stood at 17.3 seconds after Sunday’s first two stages on iconic sandy tracks north-east of Porto, but in the rutted and rocky conditions of the second pass of Vieira do Minho, he and co-driver Vincent Landais would be forced to stop to change a wheel and tyre, conceding around two minutes. This penultimate stage provided double trouble for the team, with third-placed Sami Pajari also having to stop in similar circumstances for over two minutes, denying he and co-driver Marko Salminen a fifth consecutive podium finish. Oliver Solberg and Elfyn Evans benefitted from their team-mates’ misfortunes to move up into the podium places and secure second and third overall respectively. They also finished first and second respectively in the Super Sunday classification to secure valuable extra championship points. Evans was the team’s fastest driver in the rally-ending Power Stage, setting the third-best time overall together with co-driver Scott Martin. Evans extends his lead in the drivers’ championship to 12 points over Takamoto Katsuta, who finished fifth overall together with his co-driver Aaron Johnston. Solberg and co-driver Elliott Edmondson were fourth in the Power Stage and climb to third in the championship, 31 points from the lead. Ogier and Pajari rounded out the top seven in the rally results. There was a one-two finish for the GR Yaris Rally2 car in the WRC2 category after a similarly close and eventful competition in the challenging conditions. Teemu Suninen and Janni Hussi prevailed to claim victory in their Delta Rally-prepared car, with fellow Finns Roope Korhonen and Anssi Viinikka finishing second in their Printsport-run, Rautio Motorsport-entered car. TGR WRC Challenge Program driver Yuki Yamamoto gained valuable experience through the demanding stages and overcame numerous challenges to finish ninth in the 43-car Rally2 field. #WRC #RallyPortugal #ToyotaGAZOORacing

Drama and double points for TOYOTA RACING  TOYOTA RACING challenged hard for a podium in the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps before securing a double points-scoring finish in a dramatic second round of the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season. A record weekend crowd of 101,606 fans witnessed an intense battle amongst a closely-matched Hypercar field. In the final race before the Le Mans 24 Hours, TOYOTA RACING used strategy and determined driving to recover from a difficult qualifying to fight at the front. Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Nyck de Vries finished fifth in their TR010 HYBRID, falling just short of the podium despite a late charge. The #8 TR010 HYBRID of Sébastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley and Ryō Hirakawa ran second for much of the race before a podium slipped away in the closing stages. The #7 TR010 HYBRID started the race from 12th and, despite the best efforts of Mike and Nyck, remained outside the top 10 during the opening stages. Incidents elsewhere and Kamui’s bold overtaking, moved the #7 into eighth. A safety car at the end of the fifth hour elevated the #7 into fourth and set up an exciting finale. Starting 16th, the #8 TR010 HYBRID deployed an alternative strategy early in the race. A short early first stop helped Brendon move into second, a position both Ryō and Sébastien held for long periods. However, Sébastien lost out late in the last hour when an issue around a pit stop meant the #8 was not fully refuelled. That required an additional stop, dropping the #8 out of the top 10 before the final safety car. When racing resumed with just over 20 minutes remaining, Kamui was part of a thrilling four-car battle for second place. An action-packed finale saw Kamui fight wheel-to-wheel with his rivals before ultimately crossing the line in fifth, just 6.015secs away from the race-winning BMW M Team WRT. Sébastien also had an eventful final few laps and earned a point for 10th.

Ogier wins after thrilling TGR-WRT intra-team contest Sébastien Ogier has won Rally Islas Canarias in a 1-2-3-4 finish for TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Rally Team after prevailing in a thrilling intra-team battle. The GR YARIS Rally1 car dominated from start to finish on the pure asphalt roads of the island of Gran Canaria for the second year running, winning all of the event’s 17 stages. There was little to separate the five TGR-WRT drivers, however, and they put on a exciting battle for the victory and the podium places. Ogier led the rally from the first proper mountain stage on Friday morning until the very end, but he was pushed hard by his team-mates and his lead was never greater than nine seconds across the first two full days of competition. It was Oliver Solberg who emerged as Ogier’s strongest competitor, and he had closed to within 2.2s with wins in the first two stages on Sunday. In the rally’s penultimate stage however he made contact with a barrier, damaging the front-left corner of his car and forcing him and co-driver Elliott Edmondson to retire. Ogier and his co-driver Vincent Landais won the same stage and went on to claim their first victory of the season. Elfyn Evans finished second overall with co-driver Scott Martin, having also been a factor in the win battle for much of the weekend. He won three stages on Saturday as changeable weather conditions blew in from the Atlantic Ocean, and remained close to the pace of Ogier and Solberg on the final day in pursuit of additional championship points. Evans ultimately won the Power Stage by 2.7s and the Super Sunday classification by 2s to reclaim the lead of the drivers’ championship. Sami Pajari continued his strong recent form to secure a fourth successive podium finish together with co-driver Marko Salminen in third place overall. Takamoto Katsuta came into the rally leading the drivers’ championship for the first time in his career, and improved his pace during the event to finish only 10.4s behind Pajari in fourth position together with co-driver Aaron Johnston. Katsuta is now second in the championship, two points behind Evans. Pajari is up to third, 29 points from the lead, with Solberg four further back in fourth. TGR-WRT scored 59 of the available 60 manufacturers’ points to increase its championship lead to 98. The team’s third podium lockout in five rounds so far this season takes Toyota past the 300-podium mark across its WRC participation, with 302 podium finishes now to its name. Spanish duo Alejandro Cachón and Borja Rozada finished 10th overall and second in the WRC2 class in their GR Yaris Rally2 car entered by Toyota Spain and run by MSi Racing Team.
