More than ten years ago, a project began that today forms part of the foundation for a new generation of European aerogel technology. Together with former partners, we developed and successfully commissioned a drying system for aerogel production as part of the SLENTITE project — focused on polyurethane aerogels. Since then, the #Aerogel technology has been continuously advanced by aerogel-it. Their team emerged from these activities and continues to build on this foundation to this day. At the end of April, we had the opportunity to welcome the team from Aerogel-it to our headquarters in Hagen. It was a special and valuable moment to reconnect with the #partners who helped shape the project and to reflect on its development over the years. In particular, Dirk Weinrich, Marc Fricke, and Andre Mohs (pictured from left to right), along with many other colleagues, made significant contributions to this journey. Projects evolve and #technologies advance — but equally important are the long-term connections and shared experiences that remain long after the #project itself has ended.

Two days of hands-on learning and great exchange at our #UHPT Maintenance Workshop 2026 in Houston, Texas. At the end of April, we welcomed customers and partners to our Service Center for practical training sessions and technical discussions. This year’s focus included pump training including hydraulics, #highpressure flange connections, and LVDT calibration at the valve test station. The second day featured high pressure #pump training, as well as an HP cylinder lubrication session by Matthew Koshinski and team (Burckhardt Compression US Inc.). Christopher Willy (ECI Group) also led an interesting discussion on maintenance intervals. A big thank you to everyone involved for making this #workshop a success. We are already looking forward to the next #Maintenance Workshop in 2027. Further information on registration and the program will follow — stay tuned for updates.

The development of SCF technology from the 1980s to the 2000s. A review of our activities in the field of #supercriticalfluids shows how the technology has evolved from early applications into established industrial processes: Since the 1980s, #Uhde High Pressure Technologies has been involved in the first industrial SCF plants for the #extraction of coffee and hops. Building on these early applications, process #engineering expertise has been continuously expanded—particularly with regard to material properties, selectivity, and process control under supercritical conditions. In the following years, the combination of robust plant design, pilot facilities, and application-specific know-how enabled the transfer of SCF technology to more complex products such as spices, tobacco, and #pharmaceutical raw materials. From the 2000s onward, modular plant concepts and specialized processes—such as the targeted use of co-solvents—became a key focus. Over several decades, this led to the establishment of a broad and reliable global #SCF reference base, reflecting the transition from a pioneering phase to a fully industrialized technology. Join us for the next chapter and discover SCF from the 2000s to today.

We were in China, one of the largest and fastest growing potential markets for High Pressure Processing (#HPP), driven by rising demand for safe, fresh and high-quality food and beverage products. From April 9 to 11, we attended the CBST – China International Beverage Industry Exhibition on Science & Technology in Shenzhen. Together with colleagues from #thyssenkrupp China, Hmayon Salim and Linda Hou, as well as Yasemin Sen and Jasna Ivanovic from #UHPT, the team gained first-hand insights into the Chinese #beveragemarket. Key takeaway: There is a strong shift toward advanced processing technologies that deliver higher product quality, longer shelf life and safe production without additives. In this context, High Pressure Processing (HPP) is gaining significant traction in #China and is increasingly seen as a key enabler for clean label, fresh and premium beverage products. CBST provided a platform to engage with potential customers and partners and to better understand local requirements for future activities. We look forward to building on these insights. Curious to hear your view: How do you see the role of HPP in fast-growing #beverage markets like China?
