Celebrating The Resurrected King

“He’s indescribable! He’s incomprehensible. He’s invincible. He’s irresistible. You can’t get Him out of your mind. You can’t get Him off of your hand. You can’t outlive Him, and you can’t live without Him. Well, the Pharisees couldn’t stand Him, but they found out they couldn’t stop Him. Pilate couldn’t find any fault in Him. Herod couldn’t kill Him. Death couldn’t handle Him, and the grave couldn’t hold Him.

Yeah! That’s my King, that’s my King.”

My Christmas Tree

My Christmas Tree

Sorry I haven’t been posting recently, but life got a little, well, hectic.  You know what I mean, don’t you?  At work, there are deadlines to meet, Christmas gift lists to compose and order, clients to serve, and matters to address.  At home, there are toilets to scrub, tabletops to dust, strewn clothes to put away or wash, and Christmas decorations to drag upstairs.  Isn’t that the way in our Christian walk too?  Sometimes there is so much busy-ness and tradition that we act like drones putting one robotic foot in front of the other without taking time to worship and rest in the presence of the Lord.  We dull ourselves into being satisfied with mundane tasks of merriment and shallow interaction because the alternative takes deliberate effort and time both in and out of holidays.

When this busy-ness overtakes us and non-priority items rise to the top of the to-do list, we can choose to stop the carnival ride by remembering that we are on a relational journey with the Prince of Peace.  This season I am going to do my best to quit spinning and chasing shiny objects.  I am going to enjoy the festivities that celebrate our great hope.  Each gift delivered will be accompanied by a thought of thankfulness to the God who has provided for us and my prayer for blessings upon that person or entity.  I am going to engage with friends and family, savor our time together; and I am going to take pleasure in reading some real Christmas stories as told by Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John.

This Christmas, find reasons to smile, giggle and delight with your loved ones and the world “for to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.  And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6 NIV
