Natural disasters create complex crises that deeply affect people's lives. The post-disaster process is of critical importance for people to return to normal living conditions. In this context, when states alone are not sufficient, the active participation of local government actors in the process is necessary. Local governments undertake tasks such as emergency aid coordination, damage assessment, rescue operations and managing the recovery process of the society. The devastating earthquakes that affected southeastern Turkey and occurred on February 6, 2023 have once again demonstrated the vital importance of solidarity and cooperation in disaster management. In this process, Pendik Municipality's work in Antakya district of Hatay includes basic humanitarian aid activities such as search and rescue, cleaning, spraying, food support and psychosocial support. This study examines the solidarity and disaster management activities carried out by Pendik Municipality after these earthquakes. The aim of the study is to evaluate the role of a local government in the post-disaster process and the effectiveness of this role. The study used data obtained from primary and secondary sources such as reports on the post-disaster activities of Pendik Municipality, media content and interviews with relevant unit managers. The study consists of three main sections. The first section provides a general introduction to the concept of disaster, and the second section provides concrete examples of Pendik Municipality's practices. The conclusion section provides a general assessment and emphasizes the importance of post-disaster solidarity. This review aims to provide important conclusions regarding the critical role of local governments in disaster management.
