Only one Apple Pencil can be paired with its host iPad at a time.
However, if using either a second generation Apple Pencil or an Apple Pencil Pro, both of which pair simply by docking the Pencil with the iPad's inductive charging dock, switching between Apple Pencils is as simple and seamless as briefly docking the Pencil to charge.
The first generation Apple Pencil and USB-C Pencil can only (re)pair by connecting the Pencil to the host iPad with its charging cable. This isn't particularly onerous, but is less convenient.
