iMessage blocking not working on iPhone 15 Pro

I wanted to make a new post because I saw that my question was asked, but it was asked many years ago, but I have an iPhone 15 Pro and on iOS 26.3 and for some reason after I block people on iMessage, I’m still receiving messages on my iPhone even weeks later. I don’t know what’s going on cause they’re not starting new conversations and are still in the same conversation and it says blocked on the bottom so like I can’t text back, but their messages are still coming through so I don’t understand..
