I'm Going To Pixarland!!!!

After the call I went nutz and jumped off the fridge!!!

Pixar called and said Congratulations! AHHHHHHHHHH!!!They said they got together and were excited to choose me for their one year apprenticeship program! I'm going to be working on the 2009 animated film "UP"! I start in July after the beach! This is madness! Madness??? THIS IS PIXAR!!! I've been pretty stressed out the last few weeks but now I'm going crazy! Thanks for all your prayers and support, they've really helped. I can't stop smiling!

I was going to try for EA before I got this call. My friend Mark put my name in at EA headquaters and they called me up. They sent me a concept painting of one of the levels they're working on and said if I can recreate it in 3D I could be hired. Here's what they sent me, the upper part is their painting and down below is what I've made so far:

It's pretty rough right now I'm still blocking it out, but it's coming along. I know I have Pixar's offer right now but I'm still going to finish it. I want to see if I can do it, see if I have what it takes to make it at EA and get some critiques and feedback. It never hurts to establish good relations just in case Pixar doesn't work out, they are right across the street after all.

anyway, I gotta get back to work.

....

WOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Rajinikanth Kick!

Cue triumphant music!

Also if your interested here's the premiere trailer of the game I was going to work on, EA's new sci-fi thriller Dead Space (WARNING:The trailer is pretty intense, sci-fi exploding zombies ala Alien vs. Predator!)

Rumblings

Still waiting around but I heard some welcome news yesterday.

Some friends at Pixar said the recruiters we're asking about me recently. They wanted to know what they thought of me and if I would be a good fit there. They were cool and gave me good reviews! I thought Pixar had all but forgot about me, but maybe I still have a chance. We'll see.

I got an email last night from EA as well. They said they're looking for an Environment Artist and that I was referred to them. They asked if I would be willing to take an "art test" to see if I'm qualified. I'm not quite sure what that will entail but they said they'll give me 48 hours to complete it. Talk about a Final exam! It's kind of unusual but seems like a smart hiring practice especially for a new college student.

Maybe's are in the air, still nothing solid, but it's a whole lot better than the nothing of the last 3 weeks. Wish me luck! and watch out for zeppelins!

Unbelievable

After months of long waiting the day finally came. All my shoddy game equipment came back from repairs. My Xbox 360, my Rock Band guitar and drum set and my wireless Guitar Hero guitar. I even got my roommate to bring back the Flat screen tv and his stereo system he keeps at his fiancee's apartment. We got the band back together, had pizza and chips on hand, everything was in place for a night of extreme rocking! It was the perfect storm....

...except halfway through the first song, the screen froze and 3 familiar red lights started flashing... The brand new February 18, 2008 manufactered Xbox was dead. FOR THE LOVE!!!! I had it for less than 3 minutes!! and it bricks on me yet again! I'm sending it back this time with rabid angry weasels in the box. This is ridiculous! They really need to be sued. Hard.

yet another month before I get to relive this again...
