Last weekend we were also able to make it to the Museum of National History, and these are just a few pictures from my favorite exhibit there. If you can't read the sign that I'm pointing at, it says, "Hall of Pacific Peoples". It was a rather small exhibit, top floor, back corner and next to the Neanderthals exhibit (Cea jokingly said that they were keeping similar cultures close together), but one that had a lot of history in it. It was especially nice because I understood a lot of the history, so many of the pieces there had a lot more meaning. One of the really cool pieces was a cloak that the Ali'i used to wear. Anyways, hope that you enjoy our pictures.

Fun in NYC!
This is the "Big Piano" that Tom Hanks played "Chopsticks" and "Heart and Soul" on in "Big". The keys are about 12 inches thick each, and they are played by stepping on them. On the weekends every half-hour, they do a show. They started off in honor of Tom Hanks by playing his two songs, then they got a little more creative and entertaining. They started off by playing "Fur Elise" by Beethoven, and that was pretty cool, but then they ended by playing two songs that are hard enough to play with 10 fingers, and they did it with four feet (and an occasional hand). They played J.S. Bach's "Toccata and Fugue in D minor" and also "The Hungarian Rhapsody" by Frank Liszt. If you want to see them, you can find them on youtube. It was pretty darn amazing!
It probably suits Becky and Tim more than me because of the size, and well the name...SMART... I should probably drive one of those HEAVY duty trucks! Too bad there's not a car that's called the "chubby and awkward" it'd be very fitting (I guess you have to be in the family to understand that joke)!
Thanks for Wundering with us!

Lesson learned from youth...
I saw something pretty awesome the other day. I think that everyone has a "those disrespectful kids" story... and I think that there has been a lot of conversation in society about the "loss of chivalry" I guess would be the way that I would word it. Well the other day, Cea and I were on the subway, and there was a group of about 15 teenagers. When you get teenagers together, we all know how obnoxious they can be (probably because we were once like that and sometimes still are when we're with our friends), without even thinking about it. To them, they were having a ton of fun, and everyone on the bus around them didn't mind and were minding their own business. Well what impressed me, was that they all would have been labeled pretty quickly by most as "thugs" or "ghetto" or whatever else (I think you know what I mean).
There was one of them, just minding his own business, had his iPod on, designer sunglasses, wife beater, pants sagged to his thighs, throwback Nike shoes, just chilling on the bench. An older couple walked on the bus and most of the seats were taken. This young guy, looking like the thugs we'd all see on movies, took one look at the couple, grabbed all his stuff, and gestured for the women to sit in his seat. I sat there for a second and just watched. She walked over and thanked him. He courteously nodded back to her and stood for a good amount of his ride.
It was really cool for me to see. I ride the subway every morning for about 30 minutes, and I don't think I've seen anyone give up their seat for someone else. I don't think that it's because we're all punks, but probably because we're just busy minding our own business, reading our books or newspapers, doing our own thing and not paying attention to those around us. It was a good lesson learned from a youth, a reminder to pay a little more attention to those around you, and not to quickly label someone. This "thug" or "kid from the ghetto" as most would label him had more kindness than most others.

Wundering LIVE!
Wrtten by Cea:So last week, on Wednesday, I was lucky enough to go see a LIVE taping of the Regis and Kelly show. It was so fun. For those of you dont' know, I love Regis and Kelly and when I am home at that time of the day, I always watch it.I am thankful to my friend Malia for getting the tickets. It was really different and really fun. I got to sit on the front row. During one of the commercial breaks, Kelly came over and was talking to a guy next to me, and then came over and shook my hand. I didn't have my camera... Blast... but that's ok! The guest that day were Molly Sims, from the TV show Las Vegas, Harvey Fierstein from the Broadway A Catered Affair (for those of you who have seen Mrs. Doubtfire... Harvey is the brother of Robin Williams that changes him into a Woman), and Michael Strahan from the NY Giants.
After the show was over they did some other taping for shows in the summer. It took us about two hours to film everything, but it was worth it because one of the other guests was Oscar De La Hoya, the Boxer. So needless to say it was a fun NY experience, and Malia and I are trying to get back.... As for now, that was me Wundering LIVE!

Enjoying the big apple...
Cea and I have been here for a week, and I'm happy to report that we're both still alive and kicking. The internship is treating me great. I love the culture and approach that Lowe has as an agency, and am already beginning to learn a great amount. My supervisor is very helpful and great and helping me stay in the loop with what is going on. The position that I'm interning in works on various different accounts, and it has been fun looking at the work that has already been done and that I'm going to hopefully help out with. I am interning with a great group of interns and am excited to work with all of them this summer. As a welcome activity, Lowe took all of us on a sailboat ride on the Hudson. We got to see the Statue of Liberty, and it was good to be on the water again. Granted, the Hudson is nothing like the Pacific Ocean and I'm more used to straddling a board than riding a boat, but floating on water none-the-less is a great feeling.
Cea has been enjoying her time here as well. She has been trying to apply for jobs, but it's difficult since we are only going to be here for two months. So we think she may just end up having a fun vacation (which she really deserves after finishing school). She's been spending much of her time seeing the sites and walking around New York. She is finding amazing deals on clothes and shoes (does that surprise any of you who really know C?) and is on the quest to crown the best cheesecake in the city. That means that I get to go with her and try cheesecake at every place we can find (I'll be sure to keep you all up to date on her findings). She's so excited because tomorrow she is goingto the filming of a Regis and Kelly Show... she's always wanted to do that.
So needless to say she is playing as hard as I'm working. It's been fun for both of us, and I'm glad that she doesn't have to worry about working and can enjoy the city. She also has time to clean the house, do the dishes, and dinner is always ready by the time I get home...lucky me :)!!!! With both of us being at school for the last two years, our house has never been consistently this clean (ask my sister Becky she knows). She's done a great job at making the apartment really feel like a home, which is a great break from the busy city outside....Thanks Honey!
We'll continue to update if you keep on wundering back!

First Days...
So the long awaited day of the summer has come....Cea finally got to New York! Man, that was a horrible week without her. The first thing she told me when she got off the plane was, "I'm never doing that again!" It's been so good to have her here, and we've been able to have a ton of fun already.
Her first day, we took a walk around central park. We took some pictures and they are in the right side bar (by the way, if you click on the slideshow, it should take you to a link to view the pictures bigger). It was relaxing for both of us, and good for me to have someone to talk to while walking around... my conversations with myself got too predictable and a little scary :). Last night we went to the Museum Mile. They closed off a good portion of 5th avenue and access to all the museums in that strip were free. We got to see some pretty great pieces of work. I wish I would have paid more attention in my history classes, because many of the artists were ones that I had to study about. Anyways...
My first day at Lowe was on Monday. It was a lot of fun, and I'm excited for what lies ahead this summer. They're already keeping me busy catching myself up on the progress of various accounts. All the interns are going on a sailing cruise for a couple of hours on Thursday, so I'm pretty stoked about that.
Hope you enjoy the pictures. If you can't access the link, let me know, and I'll post the pictures manually. It just makes it easier to have them running on a slide show instead. Come back soon.
