Kaniela Goes Swimming

This happened to be the first Saturday in a few weeks that neither Cea or I worked.  We went and had my Sister-in-law Evelyn take pictures of Kaniela...they're coming soon and are beautiful.  After that we just ran some errands and went back home.  Kaniela was up and happy, the sun was shining, so we decided to take Kaniela swimming.  Here are some fun pictures of his experience.

Don't mind the creepy looking guy in the back...just another dude at the pool

Wii = Fun for all Ages

Cea and Kaniela got me a Wii for father's day.  I think that it is very much like when I got her computer...it was her birthday present, but I was going to have just as much fun with it.  We've been having so much fun together with the Wii...

One of the greatest things is that the Wii is for all ages.  Kaniela loves watching Daddy, and Cea's Dad and Nana even got in on some of the action.

We had a blast...Dad Shaffer and Nana both bowled over 100.  Nana was a little reluctant at first, but ended having a ton of fun.  She really was a great sport.

Update from the Week

What a week for our family.  Things at work have been so busy and our little Kaniela continues to grow and grow.  We're so thankful for our jobs, great friends and great help with Kaniela.  Life would be so difficult without all three.

Work this week included, a BBQ, group trainings and field trips, visitors from Texas, an evening at Miss Utah (we're sponsors... "The Official Home of Miss Utah"),  plus all the daily happenings of our community.

Kaniela continues to grow big and grow up.  Here are just a few fun pictures from this week.

Meet "PookaMan".  When we moved apartments, we went shopping at IKEA for a bunch of stuff and found this little hand puppet.  He has quickly become Kaniela's new best friend and Kani-boy will sit and talk with him forever.  As you can tell, he is very fond of the little guy.

We had a BBQ at work the other day for a student group we are hosting.  Kaniela came along and had his first real encounter with grass.  It'll have to grow on him.

Kaniela is getting stronger and stronger everyday.  He rolled over for the first time last week, and is able to hold his head up so well now.  We try to do tummy time with him everyday, and for the most part, this is what he looks like!

Thanks for always coming to visit our blog.

Kani's Smile

I came home the other day and Kaniela was sitting on Kevin's lap just laughing. Every time Kevin would go... "Blblablbla..." Kaniela would laugh so hard.. What amazing sound to hear and sight to see your baby smiling so big and laughing so hard. I don't know if there's anything better at this time!

Dearest Mommy!

Here is an email I wrote to my Mom this morning... at 6:30 am...

Dearest Mommy,
I am writing to apologize for all those years of early mornings! I'm sorry for waking you up so early, I just hope that I was as cute and cheerful as another sweet baby that wakes his mommy up! Thank you for getting up with me all those years and for as much as I can remember, not complaining about it! :)
love your Cea

Kaniela's has a doctor's appointment.

We took this picture at Kaniela's doctor's office today.  As you can see, he is getting so much stronger, and is really holding his head up.  We're glad to announce that he continues to grow.  He weighed in at just under 13lbs, and is about 25.25 inches long.  He's jumped to the 11th percentile in weight and 58th in height.  We're pretty proud of his growth.

He also got four shots, but took them like a pro.  He slept majority of the rest of the day, and is now in lala land lying on Mommy and Daddy's bed.

We are amazed at how much he grows.  We were looking at a bunch of his "younger" pictures and it's so fun to watch our little baby boy grow.

Up to this point...

It's been so much fun.  I can't believe that we have had Kaniela in our lives for the last four months.  It is amazing how fast time goes, and how much Kaniela grows.  When I look back, it has been a really eventful time.  It's hard to believe that the following has happened since the beginning of the year:

1. Little Kaniela Boy entered our life.
2. I graduated from College
3. I got my first full-time job and basically started a professional career.
4. Cea's grown to be the most amazing mother and wife that I could have ever asked for (well she's always been the most amazing wife, but you know what I mean).

Here's a fun little update about our little one:
1. Kaniela's next official doctor's appointment is on Thursday, but unofficially he weighs between 13 and 14 lbs, doubling his birth weight.
2. From our video we posted the other day, you can see that he is beginning to laugh hysterically.
3. Kaniela slept completely through the night twice in the last week.
4. If you haven't seen, he is growing to be so big and has developed such a fun and loving personality (there are some great pictures on our picture blog, "Wunders in Focus").

It has been such a great experience for our family.  Cea continues to work, and we have amazing friends who we now consider extended family to help and watch our little Kaniela while she and I are at work.  We are anxiously looking forward to the day that Cea gets to stay at home with her little "KanMan".

So I guess you can say that up to this point....we've been so blessed.  Excitement and anticipation for what lies ahead can be a little nerve wrecking sometimes, but we anxiously await what lies around each turn.

Thank you for always being supportive and we hope that you continue to enjoy our little blog.
