Everyone wants to be "the next #Estonia." Most of them can't even explain what that means. There's now a whole book about it. A German #govtech advisor spent his career studying #digital government and landed on the same example: Estonia, a country that had basically nothing after regaining independence, out-executed nations with 100x the budget. Not magic or luck. We made a decision, started and built the thing while everyone else was still forming committees about it. 🇪🇪 Find your #opportunity in Estonia's digital success story: https://lnkd.in/eX6cweQW Full article: https://lnkd.in/emxqyMhf

Estonian students understood the assignment 😌📚 The latest #PISA results put #Estonia at the #top in Europe and third among OECD countries overall, behind only Japan and South Korea. So, if you’re thinking about moving to Estonia with your family, the quality of #education is one less thing to worry about. Homework, unfortunately, may still be involved. A stat worth knowing before you need it: new parents in #Estonia get up to 605 paid days of leave to share between them — close to 20 months, all compensated based on actual average earnings, not some flat minimum. 🐣☝🏽 That breaks down to: 👩🏽 100 days of paid #maternityleave, at full pay 🙆🏽♂️ 30 days of paid paternity leave, usable any time before the child turns three 👪 475 more paid days, split between both parents however works best for you Nobody picks a country based on parental leave policy. Until they've got a reason to. 😉 🇪🇪 More about working and living in Estonia: https://lnkd.in/duHEECQe

One of the sharpest exports from #Estonia isn't tech, it's how to do digital right ☝🏽😙 Estonia just helped open an EdTech Centre of Excellence in #Kyiv. The centre gives Ukrainian teachers, schools and #edtech founders a real place to test digital learning tools. Estonia's bringing its own e-governance experience to the table (we've been doing digital-first since before it was cool), and backing it with €425,000 to make it happen. War has upended a generation of Ukrainian classrooms. This is a concrete answer to a very big problem by training teachers, testing new tools and building policy. All to help rebuild a stronger, more resilient education system for the long run. 🇪🇪 Want to know why Estonia keeps showing up in stories like this? You don’t need to #work at a #unicorn to work with people who built one. 🦄 Estonia’s tech scene is pretty well connected. The people who helped build companies like Skype, Wise, Bolt and Pipedrive didn’t exactly disappear after their first big thing. They went on to start new companies, invest in others, mentor founders and bring what they learned into the next generation of #Estoniantech. Which means experience travels fast here. 🚗💨 Your next founder, investor, colleague or coffee meeting might have a few very familiar names on their CV. That’s probably one of the nicest things about working in Estonian tech. Yes, you may be joining a company here. But you’re also joining an ecosystem that has been building, learning and starting again for quite a while. ☝🏽 See what’s happening in Estonia’s tech scene and where you could fit in: https://lnkd.in/eHW_AxV2

School is starting, and Estonia’s AI Leap is growing with it. 🤖📚 The programme helps teachers and schools use #AI in ways that actually support learning. This year, it’s expanding into vocational education and reaching around 14 000 more teachers with training, learning materials and access to AI tools. Their students are heading into a world where AI is already part of the job, so it makes sense to start here. Curious about everyday life in #Estonia? Estonians have been practising it for a while now 🇪🇪🫶🏽 Ask someone here to work through their lunch break and you'll get the kind of look usually reserved for people who wear socks with sandals. Annual leave isn't negotiated down out of guilt. It's taken, in full, without a farewell tour beforehand. Work is one part of the picture here, never the whole frame. Explore what that actually looks like: https://lnkd.in/dmf-Zz3D And to Dolly, who said it best — may she fly high. 🕊️

🤝🏽💬 You've probably heard Estonians are reserved. That's kind of true, and kind of the point. Small talk is rare here, people don't enjoy fake enthusiasm. The first few conversations usually feel more polite than warm, which can catch you off guard if you're coming from a "how are you?"-heavy culture. 😅 But when someone here decides they like you, they mean it and they open up fast. Estonian #friendships often stay for years and are sincere. 😚 Also, the #expat scene in Tallinn is very active with sauna groups, hikes, book clubs, run clubs, meetups. You won't be alone while the local friendships are quietly forming in the background. The upside of a country that takes friendship seriously: once you're in, you're in.
